Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - SKU: A0.931212 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Classical. Score and parts. 13 pages. Music Macri Editions #3687655. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.931212).

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - SKU: A0.533499 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 28 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3000445. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533499). Meyerbeer’s Opera Le Prophète was one of the most influential works of the 19th century, inspiring Verdi, Wagner, Liszt and others with its dramatic score. Caprice sur Le Prophète de Meyerbeer begins with an extended Aria with several cadenzas. The work ends with a Polka in Rondo form which has a brillant variation. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of Wind Music, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that he converted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collectionknown as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution.Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. On March 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.1201703). [originally commissioned for contralto flute, this can be performed on any member of the flute family]In celebration of what are perhaps among the greatest gifts to the human palate, I composed this set of characteristic etudes based on several distinguished wines of France. Wine is beyond simply a beverage—it is a form of art in itself, elevated by centuries of refinement, and those of France in particular have been recognized by many as some of the finest specimens crafted.“Set One†is devoted to red wines. Merlot, with scents of black cherry and plum, is a soft, well-rounded wine that makes an excellent introduction for those new to red wines (and an old favorite for the initiated). The essence of Pinot Noir is delicate and fresh. These grapes are difficult to grow, rarely blended, yet yield no roughness. The grande dame of French reds, Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied, firm, and gripping. The second set illustrates white wines. One of the most popular wines in the word, Chardonnay is velvety and voluptuous, with bold citrus notes.Sauvignon Blanc reveals a wide palate of subtle flavors, granting the sensitive imbiber delicate hints of bell pepper, sour green fruits, apples, pears, and even tropical fruits. We finish with Semillon. Noted for its great strength of berry flavoring, it is often blended to delimit its strong character.

Voice and piano (2 songs with violoncello; 1 vocal duet) - Medium - SKU: MQ.8491-36E Composed by MeeAe Cecilia Nam and Theodore Gouvy. 5 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8491-36E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8491-36E). French.A French composer, Théodore Gouvy (1819-1898) was one of the most significant composers of 19th Century in Europe. The movement of rediscovering his instrumental music has been increasingly successful in Europe since the 1990s, especially following the birth of L’Institut Gouvy in France. However, his solo vocal music has been waiting to be unveiled to the public. Volume One includes 52 songs of Gouvy.Gouvy traveled widely throughout Europe. He was also a lover of nature. Generally, he spent his winters in Leipzig, but in the summertime, he always returned to Hombourg-Haut, France, to stroll through the woods, to hunt, and to relax. Gouvy was fluent in several languages and had a great appreciation of the Renaissance French Poetry of Pierre de Ronsard whose poetry he had set to music. The fifty-two songs in this volume are largely by Ronsard and other Renaissance poets of La Pléiade.Although Ronsard is approximately 300 years older than Gouvy, they both seem to have the same interest in classical literature, though, admittedly, for different reasons. Celebrated by the French and English courts, Ronsard (1525-1585) was the leader of La Pléiade: a group of seven poets (Joachim Du Bellay (1522-1560), Rémy Belleau (1528-1577), Étienne Jodelle (1532-1573), Pontus de Tyard (1521-1603), Jean–Antoine Baïf (1532-1589), and Jean Daurat (1508-1588), who dedicated their efforts to writing poetry in French rather than in Latin (or Greek) as most of the Romantic poets did. They wished to enrich the French language, and establish a new literature which would be the equal of the other literature of their period, and the equal to poets of the past. French Romantic poetry featured the closeness of the poet to nature, and his ability to communicate with nature by personifying (anthropomorphizing) all of nature’s elements: flowers, the planets, the moon, the breeze, and even the sand upon the shore. As a significant melodist, Gouvy’s treatment of the vocal solo line and his treatment and development of the piano accompaniment places him in the upper echelons as a composer of songs. His diverse cultural life led a rich and significant musical life, interacting with his contemporaries who admired his work, and whom Gouvy knew well, such as Liszt, Brahms, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Gounod.

Noah Bromberg #883053. Published by Noah Bromberg (A0.1292501). Le Bourgeois gentilhomme (French pronunciation: [lÉ™ buÊÊ’wa ʒɑ̃tijÉ”m], translated as The Bourgeois Gentleman, The Middle-Class Aristocrat, or The Would-Be Noble) is a five-act comédie-ballet – a play intermingled with music, dance and singing – written by Molière, first presented on 14 October 1670 before the court of Louis XIV at the Château of Chambord by Molière's troupe of actors. Subsequent public performances were given at the theatre of the Palais-Royal beginning on 23 November 1670.[1] The music was composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully, the choreography was by Pierre Beauchamp, the sets were by Carlo Vigarani and the costumes were done by the chevalier d’Arvieux.Le Bourgeois gentilhomme satirizes attempts at social climbing and the bourgeois personality, poking fun both at the vulgar, pretentious middle-class and the vain, snobbish aristocracy. The title is meant as an oxymoron: in Molière's France, a gentleman was by definition nobly born, and thus there could be no such thing as a bourgeois gentleman. This orchestration for brass quintet has been adapted to accomodate modern instrumentation, while preserving the original intent of the composer. the piece has been transposed down a whole step from the original key, and slight modifications to the individual parts have been adjusted. No modifications to the voicings have been made to preserve the composers intent.
