This Korean Simple Suite is consist of 5 movements. 1.Prologue-Greeting 2.Oriental Flute 3.Cheerfulness 4.Sorrow 5.Finale-Festival. All piece's main theme is generally based on Oriental pentatonic tone, And for 2nd movement, there is especially natural harmonics is used for special tone effect, to express oriental flute sound. and for 3rd movement, adapted Korean Traditional rhythm, for example, such as Kutkuri Jajinmori. 4th movement is Major key, but has deep sorrow. For Finale, Rondo form is used, and Korean Traditional Children's song is adapted as main Theme. Kim has formerly been concertmaster of Daegu City Sym. Orchestra as well as for the Michigan State University Orchestra. Since 2004, his compositions have been periodically performed by I Musici. His compositions have also been performed and recorded by the Vienna Waltz Orchestra, in Austria, the French Chamber Orchestra in France, and the Sophia Chamber Orchestra in Russia. Mr. Kim is a former Dean of Changwon National University’s College of Performing Arts. Currently he teaches student as Emeritus professor of Changwon National University.

Arirang for Piano Trio Op.154EThis music is based on a string ensemble composed for Italian ensemble I Musici, they asked me to write a music to commemorate their 60th anniversary (2012). The conclusion of the idea that a music to celebrate their founding should be special was to write a music based on our folk song. Since the folk song “Arirangâ€, which contains the soul of our ancestors, is unique to Korea, it has great meaning in celebrating their anniversary with our own, and especially these days, when the desire to find ours is strong, our melody is performed on the world stage. I wanted to give a second meaning to what I left behind. I want both the performer and the audience to feel “musical sympathy†with this “Arirang,†which is an effort to give value as an artistic document to a folk song that is familiar to everyone. Following the short and fast introduction in 3/4 time, it is connected in the form of 5 variations in 6/8 time. Each variation expresses a different musical atmosphere, performance speed, or change in composition. In general, the main melody is mainly played by the first violin, but as far as the main melody is concerned, in this music, high-pitched instruments and low-pitched instruments intersect and cycle in equal positions, not in a melodicline relationship. After the fourth variation, a virtuosic solo of the movement alone is connected, and after the finale with a broad and majestic atmosphere, it ends with a short and lively coda with the same character as the beginning. Bird, Bird, Blue Bird Op.152 Traditional songs can be said to be music that contains the life and soul of a country. Along with Korea’s representative folk song “Arirang,†“Bird, Bird, Bluebird†is also music that contains the life and soul of ancestors, and is a valuable cultural heritage of Korea. A quiet and lyrical theme gradually escalates and repeats itself. Subsequently, the theme is played alternately for each part with the tonal change of the circle of perfect fifths descending for each part. At the end of the cadenza, the theme is played with harmonics that give an oriental feel. The bass and treble parts alternately play the main theme, and in the finale, the majestic chords and tense notes create a sense of musical height and end in a passionate atmosphere.
