Guitar - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

The chorus has no lyrics.

Guitar quintet - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4320 Composed by Claudio Camisassa. Score and parts. 48 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4320. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4320). This piece was composed for the 2024 summer course Guitar Encounters at Six Fours. The trainees (aged 11 to 16) are students from the Toulon-Provence-Méditerranée conservatory with an instrumental practice of 3 to 9 years. The writing addresses specific subjects for each of them. Example: for guitar 5 (end of cycle 1 students): learning notes in 6th string in D and rhythms in 7/8. For guitar 4 arpeggio work and thumb technique, for guitar 1... in short, tailor-made composition!!. As every year, the pieces are worked on intensively for 8 days (in addition to a trio and a solo) and the creation takes place at the end of the course. From a writing point of view, the piece mixes Eastern European rhythms and a central part with a strong scent of urban music from Argentina.

Eve’s Diary

Guitar and voice - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1538 Composed by David Leisner. Score. 23 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1538. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1538). When guitarist John Olson and soprano Gioia De Cari commissioned me to write a piece for them, I envi- sioned writing something theatrical that might especially suit Gioia, who is both a singer and an actress. Eventually, I thought of Mark Twain. The great American writer and humorist of substance wrote a short, little-known book called The Diary of Adam and Eve, which is, of course, about the first days of human life on this earth, in Twain’s witty, but touching take on the Bible story. Adam and Eve each write diary entries. I chose several passages from Eve’s diary that convey the sense of constant wonder that she felt because absolutely everything in her world was new.Setting prose, rather than poetry, is a challenge for a composer because it has neither the innate rhythm nor the lyricism of poetry. On some intuitive level, this challenge led me to a process that allowed the music to evolve mostly from the guitar part. Whereas normally the vocal melody might emerge first, motivated by the text and with the accompaniment then added for support, here the guitar part was the prime mover. An example of this is the last song, which is a passacaglia played by the guitar, providing the ground over which the vocal line can soar.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4088 Composed by Louis Trépanier. Score. 9 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4088. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4088). ISBN 9782898522055.August nights can be tinged with a bit of melancholy because the end of the summer approaches. The moon softly glows with nostalgia for a season passing us by. This mood seems to me folded into the Brazilian Bossa Nova, and the Brazilians? term ?saudade?; in this piece I offer up my tribute to one of my favourite composers, Radamés Gnattali (1906-1988), who wrote for every musical situation in his era in Brazil ? from the concert stage to the back alley, and everything in between. Lua para Epilogo de Verão, is dedicated to the Brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon, who is both a great friend and a tremendous inspiration. This étude tackles solid chords and contrary motion in the left hand, and, like all the études in this collection, voice separation and phrasing. In measure 24 the guitarist must execute a diagonal barré, where the first finger covers position IV at the first string, and position V at the fifth string, hence the V/IV indication after the barré symbol. The practicalities of navigating through the different chord shapes and rhythms in the piece mean that not all notes can be held for their full, written value. Such discrepancies between the text and the playing are common in this style of music.

Guitar - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4280 Composed by Francis Kleynjans. Score. 12 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4280. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4280). Francis KleynjansIt’s a beautiful journey through the tones that I offer you with these two pieces. The first The Stations of the Cross express the 14 scenes of the Passion of Christ through a simple arpeggio and 14 different tones. The 12 minor keys which begin the work in a perfectly natural way (D, A, E, B, F#, C#, G#, D#, Bb, F, C, G) are followed by two major keys (D and the) who come conclude the work as a triumphant deliverance. The second piece Labyrinthe uses the same principle, but in a different way. With another arpeggio and major and minor tones which follow one another alternating in a natural way through a slight mutation, leading us astray in the meanders of the tones, to finally find ourselves in the original tone, we thus delivering from this great labyrinth (do, lam, re, sim, mi, do#m, fa#, re#m, ab, fam and do).I hope that the discoverers of these pieces will have the same pleasure that I had in composing them for them.Francis Kleynjans.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4287 Composed by Francisco Braga. Arranged by Luciano Lima. Score. 13 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4287. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4287). ISBN 9782898522048.Antônio Francisco Braga (1868-1945) belongs to the generation of Brazilian composers of the first republican period, aesthetically tied to romanticism, alongside Henrique Oswald (1852-1931), Leopoldo Miguez (1850-1902), Glauco Velásquez (1884-1914), and Barrozo Neto (1881-1941). Born in Rio de Janeiro, on April 15th, 1868, he began his musical studies at the Asilo dos Meninos Desvalidos, in 1876. In 1883, he enrolled at the Imperial Conservatório de Música where he studied harmony and counterpoint with Carlos de Mesquita – a former student of César Franck, Durand, and Massenet – and clarinet with Antônio Luís de Moura. Braga's first compositions date from this period: Sonho de Dante (1885), Dolce far niente (1886), the first Valse Romantique for piano (1886), among others. In 1887, he premiered his first symphonic work, Fantasia-Abertura. In 1890, being one of the finalists in a competition to choose the new Brazilian national anthem, Braga was awarded a scholarship to study in Europe, where he took classes with Jules Massenet at the Paris Conservatory. During this period, he wrote some of his most important symphonic works, Paysage, Cauchemar, Episódio Sinfônico, and Marabá (which was performed by Richard Strauss and the Vienna Philharmonic in 1920, in Brazil). His opera Jupyra is considered one of the greatest Brazilian compositions of that genre.Back in Brazil, he was appointed professor of counterpoint, fugue, and composition at the Instituto Nacional de Música, in 1902. There, some of the finest Brazilian composers studied with him, like Glauco Velásquez and Lorenzo Fernândez.Braga wrote operas, symphonic works, songs, sacred music, two Masses, music for piano, different chamber formations, band, and choir. He is the author of many patriotic hymns, the most popular of which is Hino à Bandeira (with lyrics by Olavo Bilac). He explored Brazilian nationalist elements in some of his works, as in Variações sobre um Tema Brasileiro and in the Trio for violin, cello and piano, whose third movement is based on a lundu (a musical genre and dance of Afro-Brazilian origin). In addition to being a composer, Braga was one of the most active conductors of his time, having been ahead of three orchestras in Rio de Janeiro: Instituto Nacional de Música, Sociedade de Concertos Sinfônicos, and Theatro Municipal. Braga conducted the Brazilian premiere of major symphonic works such as La Mer (Debussy), Pacific 231 (Honegger) besides other numerous Brazilian compositions. In 1938, he retired from Instituto Nacional de Música. He passed away on March 14th, 1945, in Rio de Janeiro.Unfortunately, Francisco Braga never wrote for the guitar. However, over a century ago his music had already been incorporated to its repertoire. According to information found in newspapers of the time, Spanish guitarist Josefina Robledo included transcriptions of pieces by Braga in her programs when she performed in Brazil: Gavota e Minuete (from the melodrama Contratador de Diamantes), in 1919, in São Paulo, and the waltz-caprice Corrupio, in 1921, in Rio de Janeiro. The piano score of Madrigal Pavane was dedicated to Alexina Leitão and published by Casa Vieira Machado, in 1901. According to the composer’s catalogue, there are two other versions of this piece: strings orchestra (1901) and quartet (which is still in manuscript). Dedicated to Braga’s childhood friend José de Souza Rocha, Timburibá (the name of a Brazilian tree) is a tango for piano from 1886, published by Narciso & Arthur Napoleão.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.517906 Composed by Jolea Jensen. Arranged by Arr. Jolea Jensen. Children,Folk,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 106 pages. Jolea Jensen #128632. Published by Jolea Jensen (A0.517906). Learn folk songs and singing games from around the world in this early elementary book. This series features a solo melody line accompanied by I, IV, and V7 chords, making it perfect for a general classroom setting or for private lessons. Level One (Book 1, Part 1) begins with basic rhythms (quarter, half, dotted half, and whole) in the keys of C, G, D. Each key begins with several songs in the basic five-finger position, then adds either one note above or one note below, then adds 3/4 time, then adds songs in which the hand is not in the basic five-finger position for that key. Level One (Book 1, Part 2) continues with the keys of A, E, B. Eighth notes are introduced in the key of E. Level One (Book 1, Part 3) contains the keys of F#, Db, and Ab. Level One (Book 1, Part 4) contains the keys of Eb, Bb, and F. I have been teaching several of my students with this book, and they are often eager to begin their lessons by playing their assignment out of this book. The feedback I've received from parents is that their child loves the songs because they are fun and easy to understand. Children often love coloring in the black and white pictures on each page. I hope your students also enjoy these songs. Small Ensemble Cello,Flute,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532769 Composed by Paul Wehage. Contemporary. Score and parts. 75 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #6131. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532769). This quartet for flute and string trio was commissioned by and dedicated to the Hélios Ensemble of Paris. Freely inspired by the poem of the same name by Charles Baudelaire, this quartet in three movements is derived essentially from the slow motif which begins the works, which generates most of the musical material which follows. The style is more linear than harmonic. The four-part invention which opens the work is followed by the second section (played without interruption) which is a kind of long suspended melody. The third movement is a quick scherzo with a final evocation of the opening motif before a brief coda.
