Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1349823 By Rachel Zegler And The Covey Band. By Dave Cobb and Suzanne Collins. Arranged by Javier Soria Laso. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 57 pages. Javier Soria Laso #934588. Published by Javier Soria Laso (A0.1349823). You've heard Nothing You Can Take From Me from the film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes (sung by Rachel Zegler) many times, but you'll be gladly astounded to hear this big band chart that puts a spin into it with great measure! After a maestoso rendition of the first verse by the brass section, the drums set up the tempo into a tour de force medium fast tempo tune influenced by Duke Jordan's Jordu (recorded by the Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet) & Bobby Timmons's Moanin' (recorded by Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers) that while retaining much of the original tune (verse, refrain & bridge) brings out a distinctive hard bop-influenced twist coupled with solos by tenor sax & drums as well as a powerful soli by the trumpet section and a shout chorus moment by the full band. This chart is perfect as a concert opener, anchorer or closer, and it's another good twist of the saying something old, something new in a refreshing way. Enjoy! This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.About Digital DownloadsDigital Downloads are downloadable sheet music files that can be viewed directly on your computer, tablet or mobile device. Accordion,Double Bass,Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.1068894 Composed by Lars Ek. Folk,World. Full Performance. Duration 225. Lars Ek Cosmos Music c/o Musik & Underhållningsskrädderiet AB #1921499. Published by Lars Ek Cosmos Music c/o Musik & Underhållningsskrädderiet AB (A0.1068894). Something quite astonishing has happened in the Swedish accordion world during the last couple of years, we´ve got a new idol. It´s astonishing in two different ways: for us who know the accordion world it´s a fact that Lars Ek has been around as a professional accordionist for almost 20 years, since he finished school, second: he has become an idol playing music and in a style that has it´s roots 50 years back in the accordion music history. One could say that Lars Ek, today 35 years old, should have been 85, active in the 30´s. Himself, he confess that he feels kind of secret longing back to a time when accordionists were equilibrists, when accordionists played in a brilliant way, the golden age it was for all accordion music all over the world, an age that we will never meet again. It´s a type of music which is historical but not belonging to the museums, not dead, it´s a typical of music filled with life. Very much so thanks to Lars Ek. It´s a quite notable situation. Lars Ek has been playing the accordion for a long time, he has been playing all types of music that can be played on an accordion. Just some few years ago he met, via phonograph records, the music of Nils Lind and Ragge Sundquist (two legendary Swedish performers from the 30´s and the 40´s, both dead since long ago - they both founded a school and a style) and, of course, also Frosini. And then, finally, Lars Ek felt that it was exactly here, in this style where he belonged. Lars Ek finally came home. Some sloppy listeners say that Lars Ek is copying the music of Nils Lind. Those are listeners who don´t listen. Others say that Lars is a maniac - he plays on an accordion of the Raggie Sundquist brand from 1937 and since a couple of years he also owns and plays an accordion once owned by Pietro Frosini, manufactured in 1927. That´s not mania. The style asks for such instruments. It´s most correct that way. Lars Ek has become incredibly popular. There are many reasons. He has lots of personality, he is a stage personality, he shows enthusiasm and joy while performing, he knows how to attract an audience (and the girls say he´s very handsome). One other reason is that the music Lars performs finds lots of response from the audience. And, please, don´t think it´s only those old ones who were around in the 30´s who love the music - so do even the young ones! Lars Ek x 2 is the name of the record. The explanation is simple. Lars wasn´t able to find a second accordionist to assist him. So, thanks to the technique he is his own second accordionist himself in five of the tunes performed. There is one more explanation. Lars performs melodies linked to the names of Nils Lind, Ragge Sundquist and Frosini, but he also plays five compositions of hes own. Just to show how he wants accordion music to be composed. Lars Ek does not need any recommendation, his records sell anyway. But you´re going to get some final words. This records is, regarding style, very rare to be recorded in 1982, it´s a matter of looking back and to do so with lots of skill, a look back that golden age of the accordion. It´s also a very personal record. The inspiration may very well be Nils Lind, Ragge Sundquist and Pietro Frosini. But it´s Lars Ek who plays. In his personal way. Which means that this is a record played in a very personal way.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836708 Composed by Brian Joyce. 20th Century,Contemporary. 24 pages. Brian Joyce #3022299. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836708). Full disclosure: This work is frankly atonal. Rhythms are tricky. Harmonies are unconventional to say the least. And even the form is nicely aberrant.Yet something magical happens when writing for winds: because of the weak timbre contact between the different instruments, one can write complex textures without losing clarity. One can write dissonant harmonies without having them sound harsh and grating. In fact, there are moments of surprising beauty here. Take for instance the color canons, passages combining all instruments in clusters whose harmonic and rhythmic motion is essentially static, but which shimmer with ever-changing timbres. The title translates - inexactly - to Keeper of Heaven, or Starry Watchman, or Celestial Caretaker, and refers to an imaginary character whose task it is to walk about the heavens at sunset and turn on the stars. He is the galactic equivalent of the old gentlemen who once went about Victorian streets, lighting the gas lamps and generally keeping an eye on things, making sure that all is well. I do not claim that this character is God the Father Almighty, only that he is an old gentleman. But there might very well be something wizard-ish about him!Performance time is approximately seven and a half minutes. The audio excerpt included here is of the last two minutes, where the music comes the closest to being tonal.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1167528 Composed by Larry Williams. Contemporary,Folk,Jazz. Individual part. 80 pages. Larry Andrew Williams #767908. Published by Larry Andrew Williams (A0.1167528). A WORD FROM THE COMPOSER Is anyone interested in new reading material anymore? I know that when I was a kid in nineteen hundred and something, the quest for new musical pieces was always one of the funnest aspects of the whole musical journey. Of course I did learn that it would take a long time to  nd those few that would resonate with me for a lifetime, but it was always fun trying them all out. It still is, in fact. Well, times change and people change, but I’d still like to believe that same factor carries on. You know, the one about trying out all that music to get to the few you keep. And what about the few we do keep? For guitar players, was it always a classic from the usual suspects, like Albeniz, Sor, Tarrega,, Granados, Rodrigo, Brouwer, Barrios, Villa-Lobos, or anything by Bach? Was it something our band director or private instructor, one of our friends, or our parents wrote? Or – Heaven forbid- something that maybe we ourselves wrote? Or some “unknown guy.â€Â Consider this.Just how often did some unknown composer's piece greatly affect us as we waded through a daunting pile of the familiar from the known masters? And since some, if not most of these classics are required reading, how often did we even get around to giving this unknown guy's piece a try?And furthermore, was this unknown guy - shudder...alive? Let’s face it. In the composer arena, we the living, stand no chance against the deceased (God rest their souls) But by saying “they don’t write ‘em like that anymore,†are we denying ourselves new ground to be broken, doors to be opened, frontiers to be discovered? And isn’t that pioneering spirit just plain ol’ curiosity when it comes right down to it? Well I believe the key lies within the carrying out of these notions that curiosity places in us. It’s climbing the mountain simply because it is there. So, for right now, I’m that unknown guy and I would only urge you to break new ground every day. Lots of trends, ideas, and interests will come and go in your life, but always hang on to that curiosity. It’s what makes the world a smaller neighborhood. Larry Williams.

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.507484 By Alan Wagstaff. By Alan Wagstaff. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Christmas,Country,Praise & Worship. 26 pages. Alan Wagstaff #118734. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.507484). This is a country-style waltz, arranged for choir (SAB) and fiddle, harp and piano, which searches for the true meaning of Christmas. here is the lyric: Crossed Out of ChristmasA Good Man was framed, on a bare, rocky hill; it happened somewhere in the distance. Though He paid a high cost, He was not double-crossed, till the day He was crossed out of Christmas. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas. The shops and the super-stores tell us the news; the signs. say that X-mas is here. And the message is hurled, right around the whole world –but something seems missing this year. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas. I want to re-write, on this parcel tonight, a word that somehow came adrift. Christmas! Christmas! Christmas! Lord God! ‘cos that is the true Christmas gift. Christmas and X-mas ain’t one and the same, and I guess there is only one reason. So let’s do it right, and by starlight tonight, we’ll unwrap the power of the season. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas.

He is not only the most significant and popular composer ever to come out of Latvia; he always speaks to his listeners with a fervent intensity that seems to point to something higher. This higher aspect is without a doubt something that stands above the world of humanity but is also present within each person: divine nature. “I am deeply rooted in nature, in the nature of the North. For his friend, Talivaldis Deksnis, he composed in 1980 Balta ainava - White Landscape (Winter), in 1981 Rudens muzika - Autumn Music, and in 1995 the Pavasara muzika - Spring Music. Our summer is very brief and offers a respite after the battles. And it is so beautiful! The music reflects joy and contentment.
