Small Ensemble Drum Set,Euphonium,Horn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.802654 By Bee Gees. By Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, and Robin Gibb. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Dance,Disco. Score and parts. 12 pages. Peet du Toit #6200345. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802654). First of May is a song by the Bee Gees with lead vocals by Barry Gibb, released as a single from their 1969 double album Odessa. The song was first recorded in Atlantic Studios in New York and was continued in IBC Studios, London. Barry said in the booklet with Tales from the Brothers Gibb that the title of the song came from the birthday of his dog, Barnaby. Maurice recalled the session in which that song came about. Barry and I were sitting at the piano, he said, And I started playing the chords, and Barry started singing, 'When I was small and Christmas trees were tall' and I started singing along with it. We put a demo down with a vocal and we kept the piano track. Went back to England, and went into IBC Studios in London, added onto that piano track and Barry's vocal stayed on as well. We had a choir and an orchestra all on this one piano. This song was initially taped in demo form in New York City on 16 August 1968.The orchestral arrangement from maestro Bill Shepherd was featured on the second chorus. The song starts with a piano on the first verse and chorus. Shepherd's orchestra was featured in second verse and second chorus. After singing the second chorus, the singer repeated the first verse. The music was stopped when he sings don't ask me why, but time has passed us by, Someone else moved in from far away.It was quite a challenge to arrange such subtle music for a brass quintet. I am very pleased with the result though. Enjoy!

Use it for family singing, dinner party, holiday gathering, etc. It's only one verse long (everyone knows the words for at least the first verse of the tune) so no lyric sheet is needed. The singing range is easy - no straining for high notes! Piano plays the last four measures of the song as an intro, then once through the tune, followed by 5 seconds of silence giving you time to stop the playback before beginning the next song. Available songs include: - Joy to the World - The First Noel - Silent Night These sound files were created at the request of a dear friend who needed something simple to use at a holiday gathering. I hope you find them useful as well. The price is the minimum allowed by ArrangeMe _______________________________________________________________.

Choral Choir (SAA) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1133340 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Alexandra L. Uitdenbogerd. A Cappella,Multicultural,New Age,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,World. Octavo. 5 pages. Alexandra L. Uitdenbogerd #733473. Published by Alexandra L. Uitdenbogerd (A0.1133340). SAA arrangement of Across the Universe by the Beatles with melody shared by the upper two parts until the third verse, when the lowest part takes the melody with homophonic harmonies above it. Ranges Soprano: Middle C (C4) to D5 Alto 1: G3 to C5 Alto 2: G3 to A4 Program Notes Across the Universe was a song written by John Lennon and performed by the Beatles. Lennon turned a negative reaction to Cynthia Lennon’s chatter into an inspired, positive, transcendental meditation-influenced song. It was first released on a charity album and included female backing vocals and a children’s choir. A pared back version was then released on the Beatles Let It Be album. I was inspired by but too late for the Space and Time themed RMIT Music concert, which happened to be on John Lennon’s birthday, and arranged the song for SAA voices, with the melody in an alto-friendly key, matching the CORP attendees at the time. The melody is faithful to the original recording, adds an accompanying “wah-wah†in the second verse, suggestive of the trippy guitar effect, and reinstates the female backing vocals in the third verse.

Piano,Viola - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548507 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christian,Christmas. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3387407. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548507). The First Noel arranged for Viola & Piano with new harmony for the final verse.Origins The First Noel is an English Christmas carol. Even more, it was probably written in the late Cornish Renaissance period. While other versions spell the title as Nowell, this is just a colloquial variation. Furthermore, Noel is an older word meaning Christmas. Therefore the First Noel translates as the First Christmas. First of all, Gilbert and Sandy published the earliest version. As a result, this version appears in the Carols Ancient and Modern songbook of 1823. William Sandy edited and arranged the book. Similarly, his partner Davies Gilbert edited and added the familiar extra verses. The First Noel: Viola Version comes with new harmony in final verse for more energy and drive. Stainer Organist and composer Sir John Stainer published the most noteworthy customary arrangement in the 1870’s. Stainer is above all famous for his songbook entitled: Christmas Carols New and Old (1871). This volume served as an important catalyst for reviving the English Christmas carol. Other famous Stainer arrangements from this book are such titles as What Child Is This, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, and I Saw Three Ships. Diatonic Function The melodic structure in the First Noel is uncommon among English folk tunes. It simply repeats one phrase twice then follows a variation refrain. All three phrases of the song end on the mediant scale degree. This is unusual because the diatonic function of the mediant is non-final compared to the more usual tonic or even dominant degrees. Consequently, this gives the song as kind of open-ended feeling – like maybe it never really ends. Political Context The Catholic clergy sang carols outside of the church in Latin. After the Protestant Reformation, the reformers thought it would be better for everyone to sing carols. They decided to bring music back to the common folk. So, they translated the lyrics from Latin into common language. Moreover, the Protestants wanted more control over the music in church than what the Vatican allowed. Protestant composers such as William Byrd composed complex polyphonic Christmas music that they called carols. Nonetheless, some famous folk carols were composed in this era. Eminent composers in the nineteenth century began to revise and adapt them. Consequently, they revived the English carol. Register for free lifetime updates and revisions at www.jamesguthrie.com

Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548502). The First Noel arranged for Trumpet in Bb & Piano with new harmony for the final verse.Origins The First Noel is an English Christmas carol. The First Noel: Trumpet Version comes with new harmony in final verse for more energy and drive.

Four ForcesReviewsScherzohttps://scherzo.es/badajoz-vanguardias-lugarenas/Periodico Extremadurahttps://www.elperiodicoextremadura.com/noticias/badajoz/fuerzas_1214372.html NotesThis work was commissioned by Extremadura Orchestra for Percussion and Chamber orchestra. It has two movements. The first one has been done for mallets and the second one was built on a base of a drums work (GEA).The duration of those movements is 26 minutes, being around 11 minutes the first and 15 minutes the second one.The chamber music is formed by:Woodwind quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn & Bassoon)Brasswind quintet (Trumpet 1, Trumpet 2, Horn, Trombone & Tuba)Strings orchestraThree firsts violinsThree seconds violinsThree violasTwo cellosFor the second movement is high recommendable to enlarge the strings, a good number of musician could be doubling.I. Strong ForcesThe work is inspired by the four fundamental forces of nature. These forces explain any phenomena which can be produced in the universe.Throughout all composition, it is latent the mathematic construction based in the series Fibonacci. In the first of the movements, Fibonacci's series is present in the notes' sequence that forms the series of 16 sounds and it is going to be present throughout the whole work. This series is taking form along the movement and it is getting melody and harmony.Although it is far away from the sonata form, as we know it in its period of highest glory, it takes elements of it and updates to our days. In this movement, we can find sonata form elements as the exposition, development, transitions or coda. The central part of the first movement becomes in the slow movement, being more intimate and lyrical, free of the serials ties although it uses resources before cited -now called common practice-.The movement finish with a short re-exposition that concludes with the virtuosic of the soloist doubling the series and adding more tension until conforming the series in its full whole.II. Weak ForcesIt is the most tribal of both movements. Its structure is more complex and in it, we also can find clear reminiscences to the sonata form.We can divide the movement into two big blocks. The first one is formed for the introduction and sections one and two.IntroducciónIt is based in one ostinato of three notes where the accent is changing provoking unsymmetric, this ostinato represents the nucleus of our existence. The piccolo and the trombone introduce us to the human element representing the two elements that form the development of the whole movement. The two elements of thematics are taken from the series, the first one is easily recognizable because it appears in his primary form.First section & cadenzaIn this movement, the rhythm, the melody, and the harmony are based on the sequence of Fibonacci. As the theme ostinato of the soloist as the melody is formed under the rhythm of 1, 2, 3 and 5. This section leads us to the second section with a clear mode of cadence. In the cadenza, the elements of the rhythm are varied freely with an accompaniment of the Spring Drum.DevelopmentIt is formed by two Rondo sub-sections in which the solo part has been created through the mirror technique. Both sections have the next form:Intro-A-B-A-B-(B(minor)+A)Intro-A-B-A-B-(B(major)+A)First section & CodaThe movement ends with the repetition of the first section and the final code.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.877669 Composed by Samuel Micah Hunter. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Folk,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Samuel Hunter #3417659. Published by Samuel Hunter (A0.877669). A small, simple, and sensitive work for a capella SATB choir, The First Witnesses explores the birth of Jesus from the perspective of the animals present in the stable in Bethlehem. Each verse presents Jesus as both newborn baby and Lord of all creation, including the very animals who were the first witnesses to his birth. This piece was premiered by the Chamber Choir of Stillwater Christian School in December of 2016, a mere three weeks after its composition. Hunter says of the piece: It was presented to the choir as a 'read through' piece in rehearsal, but instantly became a favorite and was added to our concert program at the last minute. It has since become a staple of our Christmas literature, and has consistently been a Christmas favorite for both our choirs and our audiences. Easy to learn, fun to sing, and celebrating a childlike imagination of the first Christmas, The First Witnesses is a true singer's song, which makes it enjoyable to rehearse and perform. The simple, pentatonic melody lends the piece a folk flavor, and the men and women both get chances to shine in their respective soli sections. A beautiful ooh refrain ends each verse, including the last.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Clarinet,Flute - Level 2 - SKU: A0.763312 Composed by Trad. English. Arranged by Nigel Williams. Christmas,Instructional. 8 pages. Nigel Williams #4729043. Published by Nigel Williams (A0.763312). This well known Christmas carol is arranged for two flutes and a clarinet. Each flute has an opportunity to play the verse while the clarinet leads the refrain. At the conclusion of the second verse, a chromatic shift in measure 51 signifies a change in style as the final extended cadence approaches. I have chosen not to add slurring to the first flute from measure 51 to the end, it can work nicely detached, or slurred to match the rhythm of the other parts. This arrangement is ideal Christmas season repertoire. The full score comes with three separate parts attached and has a performance duration approaching two and a half minutes. See also my growing selection of Christmas carols and other arrangements for various combinations of wind instruments, all available on SMP. .
