Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1025435 Composed by Samuel Warren Hatch. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz. Score. 9 pages. Samuel Warren Hatch #4764165. Published by Samuel Warren Hatch (A0.1025435). Piano Sonata No. 1 in E Major is the first series of concert piano works by S. Warren Hatch, written during his undergraduate study at Campbell University. Each movement is distinct, in that each of them is composed in a different form, utilizes different key changes and scales, and takes influence from a different period in classical music. While there is no theme that connects them to one another, they are all in the key of E Major and consist mostly of a waltz-like feeling. III. A Reflection of Passing depicts the shifting aspects about death as a person matures. It’s a piece that came from a time of great loss and much grieving. It begins with an innocent, hopeful understanding of death, followed by a major tone shift, where there is an odd utilization of the piano: the performer sings into the piano while holding down the sustain pedal, which vibrates certain overtones, producing what sounds like a distant choir. The piece closes with a triumphant, hopeful melody, borrowed from a song written by S. Warren Hatch when he was in high school.Composer Notes- Be sure to ensure that the stage hands lift the piano lid before the sonata’s start, as the strings will need to be exposed in order for you to sing into the piano’s body during A Reflection of Passing. For that section (page 22) you will need to face and sing directly into the strings while holding down the sustain pedal for the entire page. If you are playing with the sheet music (don’t worry, I’m not shaming you) simply slide the music holder in order to expose the part of the strings that are closest to you. For this sonata, I encourage you to find your own voice in these pieces. Your own interpretation should align with how you most relate to the message/story they’re telling. This could be using the una corda (leftmost) pedal during lighter sections to further differentiate them, or having a heavier rubato to strengthen the impact of certain phrases. As long as you bring these pieces to life, then it has my stamp of approval.

Small Ensemble Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.811697 Composed by MICHEL BLAVET 1700 - 1768. Arranged by Edited by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Instructional. Score and parts. 28 pages. Piper Publications #4282981. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811697). *The second of a set of 6 sonatas published in Paris by Boivin A Deux flutes transversiere sans Basse Par Mr. Handel. No manuscript has been found and there is no date of publication. Boivin was also Michel Blavet’s publisher and the flute duets and sonatas credited to Blavet have publication dates and opus numbers and his full name and the dedication details. The musical style of the 6 sonatas is characteristic of Blavet rather than Handel and none of the thematic material from these sonatas seems to have been re-used by Handel - whose borrowings from his own works are numerous and well documented. There are 4 movements for 2 equal players of Intermediate standard, Affettuoso, Allegro, Dolce & Vivace. They are also suitable for pairs of oboes or clarinets or violins. They have been very lightly edited, obvious wrong notes have been corrected, a few dynamic and decorative suggestions added in parentheses ( ) missing slurs added in broken lines (- -).

String Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.552333 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann 1681-1767. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 31 pages. Jmsgu3 #6327363. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552333). I. Largo II. Allegro III. Affettuoso IV. VivaceGeorg Philipp Telemann's Sonatas Op. 2, also known as the Six Sonatas for two flutes (or violins), are significant for several reasons. First, they are dedicated to two young music lovers, explicitly appealing to a circle of pupils and music enthusiasts. The pieces foster the ability of musical expression and are characterized by a combination of expansive baroque thematic material and charming galant features in the slow and fast movements, respectively. Telemann was considered one of the leading German composers of his time, and his works, including the Sonatas Op. 2, reflect his significant contribution to the Baroque music era. The Methodical nature of these sonatas, as described when they were published in 1732, is also noteworthy, as they included a second, ornamented version of the simple melodies, showcasing Telemann's innovative approach to composition.Furthermore, Telemann's music, which incorporates French, Italian, and German national styles, remained highly regarded by colleagues and critics alike during his lifetime and the latter half of the 18th century. Numerous theorists and prominent composers cited his works as models, and he influenced pupils of J.S. Bach in Leipzig, such as Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. Therefore, Telemann's Sonatas Op. 2 contributed to the expansion of domestic music-making and influenced other composers and musicians of his time and beyond.

They are also suitable for pairs of oboes or clarinets or violins. They have been very lightly edited, obvious wrong notes have been corrected, a few dynamic and decorative suggestions added in parentheses ( ) missing slurs added in broken lines (- -). Players of Intermediate standard will enjoy this music written for 2 equal instruments. 4 movements - Larghetto, Allegro, Andante & Allegro.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Tuba - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549869 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Jmsgu3 #3559131. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549869). Beethoven Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 arranged for brass quintet. Duration: ca: 10:15 Score: 30 pages, 242 measures. In two movements. A great recital piece to demonstrate the many subtle nuances of the brass quintet. Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 Arranged from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 20, this is a simple but interesting work in two movements showing the composers sense of humor. The first movement Allegro ma non troppo and the second movement Tempo di Menuetto are both in the key of G. Both Sonatas 19 and 20 (op. 49, No. 1 & 2) are named Easy Sonatas because they are technically easier than the usual Beethoven Sonatas. This makes them very popular among students and teachers alike. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna the rest of his life. In his late 20s it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies therefore belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano. www.jamesguthrie.com.

Baroque,Concert,Graduation,Instructional,Standards. 24 pages. Piper Publications #6434263. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811809). This is the seventh of a set of twelve trio sonatas composed by 1694 and published in Amsterdam around 1695 by Estienne Roger. The sonatas composed for two violins and continuo for cello and organ were widely circulated in Europe and were greatly admired by Johann Sebastian Bach. This edition is an arrangement for flute, oboe & clarinet in Bb for players of intermediate standard and above who want to play music in authentic period style on modern instruments. In editing the seventh trio sonata obvious minor copying errors have been corrected without comment. Musical notation has been modernised. e.g. tied notes have replaced dotted notes where they cross a main accent or bar/measure line. Dynamic markings have not been added except when required to match the other parts. These are shown in parentheses ( ). Suggested phrasings are shown with dashed lines and all trills and mordants are edits. These are included as starting point suggestions and players should feel free to experiment with other ornamentation and choose their own dynamics.Changes of register have been made to suit the range of the wind instruments.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - SKU: A0.818283 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by edited by Stephen R Dalrymple (Dalrymple Designs). Classical. Score. 14 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #4967139. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818283). Piano Sonata 40.2 Presto (Classical Music for Tablet Series) Franz Joseph Haydn was born in 1732 in a small village in Austria, near the Hungarian border. ♫ His father was a wheelwright and a leader of the town. His mother had been a cook in the palace of a Count. His father had taught himself to play the harp. His family was musical and often sang together (16 brothers and sisters). His father saw that he was extremely musical and that he couldn’t get the education he needed in his little village. When he was 6 years old, he was sent to the home of a relative about 7 miles away to study to be a musician. He never lived with his parents again. ♫ In 1752 he was employed by Count Karl Joseph Morzin, leading the Count’s small orchestra and writing the first of his symphonies. ♫ In 1760 he married Maria Keller. They had a very unhappy marriage, producing no children. ♫ In 1760 Count Paul Andre Esterhazy (one of the wealthiest and most important nobles in the Austrian empire) hired him as assistant director of music. In 1766 at the age of 34, Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy appointed Haydn his Director of Music. His job was divided between the Esterhazy palace in Austria their palace across the border Hungary. ♫ Haydn dedicated Piano Sonata 40 to Princess Marie Esterhazy. He worked for the Esterhazys for the next 28 years, writing hundreds of pieces of music for the prince. After about 15 years, he signed a new contract allowing him to write music for other customers. Haydn’s reputation grew to international fame. ♫ Haydn wrote 104 Symphonies. (Some count 107.) Not unlike George Washington, nicknamed the “Father of our Countryâ€, yet had no children, Haydn is known as the “Father of the Symphony.†and the “Father of the string Quartet.†♫ Napoleon captured Vienna in 1809. Napoleon, himself, ordered an honor guard be placed at Haydn’s home where Haydn lay dying. ♫ The Classical Music for Tablet Series offers piano masterworks by classical composers formatted to be read on 10 inch tablets. I use an Amazon Kindle with Mobile Sheets Pro and an Air Turn blue tooth foot pedal to practice and perform piano music. Similar products available to provide other tablets the same functionality. ♫ The pieces in this series have not been arranged, but most have been edited slightly, and have been formatted to fit this screen size. For example, in the tablet versions, first and second endings are often removed and the repeated measures and endings written into the music so the performer can avoid having to go back to previous pages. These kinds of section repeats were invented to spare the composer’s time and the cost of extra paper and ink. But with a tablet the cost of paper and ink is irrelevant. ♫ Although there are a lot more page turns with a 10 inch screen compared with letter size pages, the readability of the music (due to the backlighting on the tablet) and the portability of the music (travelling with a small tablet instead of oversized books or portfolios of sheet music) easily makes up for the extra page turns. ♫ Your purchase provides one .pdf file that contains both the tablet edition and the letter size page (printable) version. There are several programs available online that will allow you to separate this .pdf file into 2 .pdf files to make it more useful.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1025433 Composed by Samuel Warren Hatch. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 6 pages. Samuel Warren Hatch #4764139. Published by Samuel Warren Hatch (A0.1025433). I. Remembrance of a Dream is the first movement, characterised by its sonata form and distinct, contrasting sections. The piece paints a story of dancing lovers before they are forced to give their final goodbyes.

Flute,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.550397 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Christmas,Easter,Sacred. Score and part. 24 pages. Jmsgu3 #4628299. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550397). Sonata da Chiesa in Bb for Flute & Piano by Antonio Vivaldi in Four movements.Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was an Italian composer and violinist in the Baroque period who is widely considered one of the greatest composers of all time. He significantly influenced many other composers of the Baroque era, and his impact can still be felt in music today.Vivaldi's most significant contribution to music history was his development of the Sonata da Chiesa or church sonata. This composition was a variation of the Baroque sonata and was used primarily in sacred music. It was characterized by a more lyrical approach to composition, focusing on melody and harmonic structure. Vivaldi was one of the first composers to use this form, and his works set the standard for future composers. His church sonatas were written in various keys and styles, and their influence can be heard in the works of later composers, such as J.S. Bach and Handel.Vivaldi's influence on music history is far-reaching, and his contributions to the development of the Sonata da Chiesa are among his most important. His compositions are still widely performed and appreciated today, and his legacy shapes modern-era music. The mood of Vivaldi's Sonata No. 1 can be described as diverse, as it typically consists of multiple movements with varying emotional qualities. Vivaldi's cello sonatas, including Sonata No. 1, are known for their attractive melodies, stylistic variety, and dance-like movements, which can evoke emotions from lively and joyful to reflective and sad. The sonatas often feature a combination of slow and quick movements, reflecting the typical structure of church sonatas from the Baroque period. Therefore, the mood of Sonata No. 1 is likely to encompass a spectrum of emotional expressions characteristic of Vivaldi's compositional style.

JMJ Arrangements #685705. Published by JMJ Arrangements (A0.1081583). [W]hile [Joseph and Mary] were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, 'Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!' When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.' And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. (Luke 2:6-20 RSV-CE).

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1487803 Composed by Pietro Antonio Locatelli. Arranged by David Starkweather. Classical. Score and part. 31 pages. Artaria Editions #1064741. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1487803). Three movements from these two sonatas became part of the cello literature due to an arrangement by Alfredo Piatti(1822-1901). Piatti's arrangement, while extending the literature for cello, took considerable liberty with the material. The three movements of the Locatelli-Piatti sonata are originally movements from the two Locatelli violin sonatas arranged in this edition for cello and continuo. Piatti's arrangement used the second and third movements of the Sonata in D Major, Op. 6 No. 6 , and the first movement of the Sonata in D Minor, Op. 6 No. 12. Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695-1764) was an Italian composer and violinist who moved to Amsterdam in 1729. He was a virtuoso violinist, and his compositions are all concertos, sonatas and violin caprices. The twelve violin sonatas of Opus 6,1 published in Amsterdam in 1737, are considered to be among Locatelli's best works. The sonatas of Opus 6 generally follow the pattern found in No.6: a three movement scheme with a slow first movement, a fast middle movement, and concluding with a third movement set of variations, often on a minuet theme. No. 12 is a surprise, having five movements the last of which is a Capriccio, a predominantly solo movement subtitled Prova del intonatione. David Starkweather.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.876417 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Baroque,Jazz. Score and parts. 42 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #2032001. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876417). THE BACH JAZZ SONATA FROM THE 3RD MOVEMENT OF THE FLUTE/VIOLIN SONATA II IN Eb* FOR Eb INSTRUMENTS Arr. By Joe Procopio These arrangements by Joe Procopio from J.S. Bach’s Flute/Violin Sonata II in Eb are special in many ways. Firstly, it fills the need for the very best in music combining the genres of both Classical and Jazz. In addition, it is also importantly unique because it may be performed by a variety of musicians. For example, the arrangement in C may be performed by 2 or more C Instruments including Flute, Piccolo, Oboe and Violin with a small band accompaniment (Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums - Guitar is optional). The work may also be performed with just the Piano and/or Guitar for accompaniment. What’s more, the Rhythm Track Accompaniment is available without the solo instruments adding to the already many attributes of this music that enhance its inherent genuine global appeal. This is critical because teachers, students and musicians worldwide are constantly seeking music of the highest quality that can be skillfully presented to the public while having, at the same time, built-in qualities both pleasing to the listener and the performer alike. Bach’s melodies have certainly stood the test of time and Jazz is without question internationally popular. That makes these arrangements truly worthy of attention from people, artists and publishers throughout the world. The composer personally has had great success with this work in many major concerts including its premier performance using a Flute Choir at a Civic Center Concert held in Syracuse, NY before several thousand people who triumphed the young musicians with a standing ovation. The melody by J.S. Bach used in this work is taken from the Bach-Gesellschaft Ausgabe Band 9 and 1 Kammermusik BWV 1031- known as the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach which was published in 46 volumes from 1851-1899. A single volume was issued in 1926. The last surviving editor of the series died in 1928, and these volumes are now public domain worldwide. They are also held in acclaim because there are no articulation or expression marks in the Gesellshaft. Therefore, the articulation and expression marks written in these arrangements by the arranger are suggestions only. Musicians may perform the works in any manner best suited to the betterment of their own performance.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.811704 Composed by Joseph Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Standards. 43 pages. Piper Publications #4338647. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811704). SONATA No. 1 in A MAJOR SONATA No. 2 in E MINOR SONATA No. 3 in D MAJOR Written for 2 equal instruments these sonatas bring pleasure to players of intermediate standard and above whilst developing their independent playing skills. Each sonata has 4 movements slow and fast alternating in the same key. The six opus 8 sonatas were published in Paris in 1725 for ‘deux Flûtes-Transversiere sans Basse’. They were published ‘Avec Privilége du Roy.’ They were printed as a playing score preceeded by a title page which also gave details of where to obtain copies - L’Auter, Le Sr. Boivin & Le Sr. Le Clere. A copy of the Privilége du Roy. granted by King Louis on March 22nd 1724 was printed in full on the second page. It is highly likely that the sonatas would have been played by pairs of oboes or violins or possibly by bassoons or cellos according to the players available in the homes of the wealthy amateur players who could afford to buy music. The flute parts were printed in the soprano clef - with G on the bottom line. This would have been convenient for flute players who often also played bassoon when required and were often not keyboard players. This edition uses the modern bass clef and has a score plus separate parts to facilitate page turns. In editing the sonatas the presentation of the music has been modernised.

Ob. Pft. - Intermediate - SKU: F2.FM490 Composed by Lenny Cavallaro. Oboe and Piano. Score and part. 27 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM490. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM490). ISBN 9790570483891.My Opus 2 - Sonata No. 2 in E minor for Oboe (or Flute) and Piano (or Harpsichord) is nother baroque style composition. Like the Op. 1 Sonata for the same instruments, it follows the familiar four movement structure common to the period. Unlike the earlier sonata, this work was conceived specifically for oboe, although one colleague has assured me it will work extremely well for flute, whilst another would like to try it with flauto traverso and harpsichord. Thus it retains the spirit of Bach, who frequently reset his works for other instrumentation. I have provided some dynamics and ornaments - certainly more than I have with my other baroque compostions. Nevertheless, I trust that performers, particularly those familiar with the baroque idiom, will not hesitate to embellish and improvise. By way of interpretive notes, I encourage performers to respect the metronomic suggestions for the second movement, which should probably not be attempted at too rapid a tempo. The third movement concludes molto ritardande, and by the final measure the two left-hand eighth notes should be played nearly twice as slowl as written (i.e. as quarter notes). Finally, the fugato in the last movement (upbeat to m. 83) should be performed in the baroque style, without overemphasis of the thematic entries.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1392100 Composed by Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829). Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical. Individual part. 19 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #975591. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1392100). PREFACE AND BRIEF ANALYTICAL NOTESThe three sonatinas op.71 by Mauro Giuliani in C, G, and D were first published in 1816 in Vienna and were intended as student pieces of progressive difficulty. In parallel with this intention they are also fully developed three-movement works which reveal Giulianiâ??s technique as a composer with harmony, counterpoint, and structure. They certainly have the time length and the variety of full scale sonatas, but here Giuliani has chosen to use the supporting structures of sonatas met in movements other than the first, such as Menuetto and Trio, Rondo, Marcia and Trio, Scherzo and Trio, etc,  rather than sonata form itself. As it stands, this first sonatina in C has the following three movements:1 Maestoso (Moderato) which is a set of a theme and three variations, or better termed as a set of mathematical divisions reminiscent of an earlier era, as the accompaniment of the theme is given in crotchets, quavers, quaver triplets, and semi-quavers.2 Menuetto-Trio-Menuetto da capo written typically in the subdominant key of F and fully developed as per classical 19th century usage.3 Rondo. This movement is also written in a classical rondo style and form as an A-B-A-C-B-A-codetta  structure, with a typical tonal scheme of A in the tonic Key (C), B in the dominant key (G), and C in the relative minor key (Am).Therefore in this work we do not meet with structural innovations of any kind, but with strong affirmation of already existing and well established early 19th century structural norms, but the beautiful personal melodic and harmonic style of Giuliani and even his routine guitaristic nuances and formulas are present in all three movements and can be enjoyed as always.TECHNICALThis publication keeps each separate movement within the limit of two pages, thus avoiding page turns. It is published with two versions of the same pieces given in undecorated and decorated pages for the user to select which version he prefers to print out. Blank pages have been provided for insertion/deletion for the correct placement of left-right hand pages.Metronome marks are only editorial suggestions that need not be taken too literally.Sibelius Mp3 archive has been extracted for this publication using Note Performer playback engine.Socrates ArvanitakisLondon 2024.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - SKU: A0.811700 Composed by Joseph Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Standards. 24 pages. Piper Publications #4310185. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811700). The sonata is the first of a set of six published in Paris in 1725 by L’Auteur & Boivin ‘Avec Privilege du Roy.1725.’ The title page described them as ‘SONATES EN TRIO pour Trois Flûtes Transversieres sans Basse Par MR BOISMORTIER. OEVRE SEPTIÈME.’ The publication consisted of a set of parts each with the title page followed by a copy of the Privilége granted by King Louis to Boismortier to print and sell his music. There are 5 movements, Gravement, Allemande Gayment, lentement, Gavotte en rondeau & Gayment. Players of Intermediate standard will enjoy playing this music. Obvious mistakes and omissions have been corrected without comment, trills have been added where there is for e.g. a sequence where only the first trill has been indicated or a similar passage has a trill in that part or another part. The more modern tr has been substituted for + and the mordant used on shorter notes retained. No dynamics were included in the original and none have been added. Players should feel free to add their own. For the arrangement some changes of register have been made to accommodate the ranges of the oboe and clarinet and additional slurs have been added (dashed lines). Players are free to retain the ‘feel’ of early eighteenth century style whilst playing modern instruments. The original publication used the, now defunct, soprano clef (with G on the bottom line of the stave) and this edition has been transcribed into the modern treble clef. In the eighteenth century it was quite usual for wind players to play several instruments. The use of the soprano clef would have made it easier to switch between flute and bassoon.

Published by Piacere Music Sheets (A0.847837). Opus/Catalog Number: Hob. XVI:8 Key/Tone: G Major Movements/Sections: Allegro - Minuet - Andante - Allegro Year/Date of Composition: 1766 or before Difficulty: Grade 5/12 (Intermediate) Obs.: In Piano Trio in F major, Hob.XV:39, the first Allegro is used as Movement 1 transposed to F major. As each one of Haydn's first keyboard sonatas, this particular Sonata Hob. XVI:8 is written in the light, galant style which was very popular in the mid-18th century. As the Classical sonata takes its origin in the Baroque suite, Haydn named his first sonatas Divertimenti or Partitas. It is believed that this Sonata Hob. XVI:8 was intended as a teaching piece for Haydn's students. There exists no autograph version of this sonata, rather, this sonata has survived in the form of manuscript copies made by pupils of Haydn or by his copyists.

Classical,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. 11 pages. RayThompsonMusic #13291. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553211). Probabaly the most well known of Mozart’s piano Sonatas. The Piano Sonata No. 16 in C major, K. 545, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was described by Mozart himself in his own thematic catalogue as for beginners, and it is sometimes known by the nickname Sonata facile or Sonata semplice. I have arranged the first movement. Mozart’s tempo is crotchet/quarter note = 126: I have reduced the tempo to 120..it seems less rushed for wind instruments! Written for natural horn in C basso (alt horn in F provided) Good practise for scales and arpeggios!! I have added some judicious notes of my own, here and there, to thicken the harmony, and also taken some liberties with the semiquaver passage in bars 14-17 etc.
