One of America?s best loved songs began asa sea shanty. The Shenandoah spoken ofin the song is not about a place, but is about an Indian chief living along theMissouri River.

This arrangementopens with a haunting Flute 1 and Alto Flute duet. The instruments are featuredin various combinations throughout the piece to explore the different of colorsproduced by the flute choir. Harmoniesand rhythms are altered during various sections--most notably a duet betweenthe bass flute and alto flute. Piccolo,alto and bass flutes play prominent roles.

This beloved piece, well known by many early music students, is a sweet expressive addition for your flute ensemble/ group/ choir. The Impossible Dream (The Quest) is the most popular song from the1965 Broadway musical Man of LaMancha and is also featured in the 1972 film of the same name. The song was composed by Mitch Leigh,with lyrics written by Joe Darion. It was awarded the Contemporary Classics Award from the Songwriter?sHall of Fame.

I have always found the lyrics of TheImpossible Dream extremely moving:

In this beatbox flute quartet scores, I've exclusively add all the beatbox notations under the notes needed. It's what I thought the best for this piece, but it's encouraged to add your own version of beatbox along with the flute melody. Beatbox flute is all about creativity and possibility, it's kind of spirit of it.

In my arrangement, every parts of flute was made for a purpose:

- Flute 1: for the best player of the group
- Flute 2: for the upcoming player
- Flute 3: for the beginner player
- Flute 4: exclusively for teacher

So, it's appropriate for schools and students, you can decide which parts are they going to play according to their different levels in the same team.

This arrangement can be performed with as few as 5 players or a fullflute choir with multiple players on a part. this is part of my " Compositions that care" and all money this piece takes in, will be donated to a charity for recovery from addition.
When i first herd this song, for me this was painting a picture of someone who was an addict, where they seemed the life of the party , and was having such a good time, however , using to feel a certain way -whether that be normal, happy, to fit in, loved,.. how ever, addiction cripples those persons effected may truly feel lonely and empty .
I debated with myself if this is what cause i wanted to support and hopefully shed some light on, addiction and everything and every person this effects.It was the next day , i had learned a friend and former co-worker had committed suicide after a long struggle with addition. I knew then that this decision was the right one.
