The New Antiquity collection includes 15 compositions for a violin and viola duo. Ten compositions from the collection, composed by anonymous authors from the Middle Ages and two Renaissance authors, Tielman Susato and Thoinot Arbeau, have been arranged by Sonja Kalajic. The other five pieces are original romantic compositions by Sonja Kalajic inspired by the spirit of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Beautiful hits of early music, or so-called music of antiquity, have been adapted to the modern and standard violin and viola duo in keeping with the newer instrumental and concertante possibilities of the said instruments. There is no evidence that anyone has adapted that kind of music for such a musical ensemble before, so this edition of musical scores represents a noteworthy contribution to the greater affirmation of early music, to the literature of the string duet in question, and to music in general. From the technical point of view, the collection consists of compositions for almost all levels of performance ? from easier pieces by anonymous authors to some virtuoso ones, like ?Heraldry? by Sonja Kalajic. We hope that the compositions from the New Antiquity collection will enrich and refresh certain concert programs, that they will encourage some performers to attempt new interpretations of old melodies and dances, and that the musicians and the audiences will jointly feel and enjoy the indestructible and astonishing relevance of those musical compositions.

Robert Coulter's arrangement of Eight Duets for Euphonium and Tuba or Two Tubas by Handel is a great way to get together to play or even record yourself and play back over the track. The music can be performed by Euphonium (mostly middle register) and Tuba or with two tubas with an F Tuba on the top part.

These Eight Duets are perfect for a recital, the teaching studio, or just for fun, appropriate for intermediate to moderately advanced performers, and total about 15 minutes of great music.

Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) wrote the Musikalische Exequien, opus 7 (SWV 279-281) for the funeral of Prince Heinrich Posthumus von Reuss (1572-1635). Prince Heinrich?s widow and sons commissioned the work upon his death and provided Schütz with Bible verses as the text, which were also inscribed on the prince?s coffin.

Two of the three parts of the Musikalische Exequien have been arranged for 8-part Trombone Ensemble in two different choirs. The first piece, Motet is reminiscent of Gabrieli's Sonatas. The second piece, Canticum Sineonis is dense, rich, and evokes deep spiritual suffering and loss.

Two Sacred Pieces have been exquisitely edited and arranged by Kenneth Biggs for moderately advanced performers and work very well with 2 Alto Trombones, 4 Tenor Trombones, and 2 Bass Trombones.

Erik Ralske has beautifully arranged Bach's famous melody "Arioso" for Horn Quartet taken from Cantata No. 156 & Clavier Concerto No. 5. Mr. Ralske has added written out ornaments that make the music sound as if it came from heaven.

This work can be performed by advanced performers.

Bach's Badinerie from Suite No. 2, BWV 1067 is one of the most well-known Baroque melodies and has become a real show-piece for many instruments. The meaning of "badinerie" comes from the French word badiner "to jest". This lively dance is a perfect solo to add as an encore to a concert or recital.

Keith Terrett has arranged this movement in various formats for Trumpet solo and Piano, this one being in the lowest key of D minor with no range or endurance problems at all and perfect for the moderately advanced performer.

Antonio Vivaldi - "Winter" from concerto no.4 in F minor, op.8, RV297, " L' inverno" - 1. Allegro non molto, for solo piano. This is the well known composition of Antonio Vivaldi in an amazing professional made arrangement by the accomplished pianist, composer and arranger Dimitris Anousis. Anton Bruckner's Virga Jesse, Motet W.A.B. 52, for 4-part Tuba Ensemble was written in 1885 as a tribute to Jesse, the father of King David. The text is based on Isaiah 11 establishing Jesus in the lineage of King David.

The music is symphonic in breadth, but also harkens back to Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony. As with so much of Bruckner's music, long phrases begin softly and mysteriously, building to giant ecstatic climaxes.

Robert Coulter has beautifully arranged this work of 4 minutes in length for performers at a moderately advanced level. Parts are all in bass clef for 2 Euphoniums and 2 Tubas.
