There are five different styles from a little bit of Satie, Poulenc, Bartok and yes, even Brubeck. The other piece I call Bach??? only because it is all non-stop sixteenth notes. They are fun pieces but very challenging.

A trumpet was the only instrument that could be heard above the noise of the audience! This is the wind quintet adaptation of the arrangement originally written for brass quintet. The lead moves around the parts and so this is indicated to make sure that the appropriate line remains prominent. Pay attention to all the tenuto and staccato marks. Make sure that the ff in measures 26, 42, 52, and at the end are as loud as you can get them without overblowing. The fluid lines of the lyrical middle section will test your powers of concentration.
