Richard Strauss's opera Die Frau ohne Schatten (The Woman Without a Shadow) was written between 1911 and 1917. He regarded it as one of his most important works. After an unenthusiastic opening night, it has now become part of the standard operatic repertoire.
Randall Malmstrom has brilliantly arranged some of the most outstanding parts of the opera for an 8-part Trombone Ensemble appropriate for advanced performers.

Verdi's most popular opera Aïda was premiered in 1871 and has been possibly performed more than any other....over 1,100 times at the Metropolitan Opera alone.

Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1497141). Karel Komzák jr. was born in Prague, studied there violin and became a very successful conductor in the Austrian Empire. From 1883 he  was bandmaster of the Imperial and Royal Infantry Regiment No. 84 in Vienna, the orchestra which was awarded the title of the best  military band in the world at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889. Komzák even conducted his Baden spa orchestra at the World  Exhibition in Chicago 1904. His Folk Opera Edelweiss premiered in 1892 in Salzburg. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the  original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic  Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2018 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival  Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. Lanner, along with his colleague (and later rival) Johann Strauss the Elder, led the first great flowering of dance music specialist composers in Vienna. This wonderful curiosity is Lanner's homage to Mozart, setting some of his most famous opera melodies in waltz time, introduced by a medley of other Mozart opera hits. The finale, a waltz rendition of the overture to Die Zauberflöte, is not to be missed! The 3rd waltz includes a section where Lanner, a brilliant violinist, wrote out what sounds like the sort of improvisation he would have made in performance. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1497133). Josef Lanner, one of the founders of the Viennese waltz, dedicated this waltz to the admirers of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, naming them  The Mozartists. It concists of themes of the operas Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute and premiered in Vienna on 19 May 1842.  The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first  time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January  2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. The Prelude to Act Three is a lyrical and meditative orchestral introduction using music from later in the opera. Mr. Sauer's arrangement of about 6.5 minutes in length features the rich deep sounds of cantabile trombones and is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.
