The Adagietto from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 makes for a wonderful piano arrangement!
This is an accurate piano transcription of the full piece, created with great passion and attention to detail.
Please note: Although the "Adagietto" is a very slow piece, there are quite challenging parts in this arrangement, so it can only be recommended to experienced piano players.
The Adagietto is the fourth movement from Gustav Mahler's fifth Symphony, which he composed in the years 1901 and 1902.
Considered an expression of his love for his wife Alma, the Adagietto became arguably his most famous composition, and is frequently performed by the world's greatest orchestras.
Leonard Bernstein famously conducted the Adagietto at Robert F. Kennedy's funeral.
It also became a common theme for the remembrance of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Played by only the orchestra's string section and a solo harp, the Adagietto is certainly one of the most beautiful compositions ever written, and it makes for a magnificent piano piece!

Sérénade is an early work of Rachmaninoff, from a grouping of five short solo Piano pieces titled Morceau de Fantasie written in 1892 and dedicated to his harmony teacher Anton Arensky. One of his most famous works, the Prélude in C-sharp minor is from this same Opus 3. Opus 3, No. 5 (original key in B-flat minor) is the final work of the set and is in a gentle Waltz style, sometimes venturing into the Dorian mode.Rachmaninoff's lush harmonies and gorgeous melody work very well for the Tuba or Bass Trombone with this fine arrangement set in C minor by Ralph Sauer.For advanced performers, this movement is about 5 minutes in length.A perfect companion to the Rachmaninoff - Fantasy Piece, Op. 3, No. 3, also available from Cherry Classics.

There are three movements in Fantasy Pieces that make up Robert Schumann?s Opus 73. Completed in 1849, he linked each piece harmonically. Schumann directs the performers to follow on to the next section, indicating that these movements were intended as a whole.

Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1335536). Hommage to Ursula is a piano piece in memory of Ursula Görsch (1932-2023). The piece is based on the six sounding letters of her last name (GERSCH, where the O is omitted, the R represents RE - the D note in Spanish, Italian, or Turkish - and the S represents the E flat, 'Es' in German), as well as on the remaining six notes of the total chromatic scale (C#, F, F#, Ab, A, B). Both Pitch Class Sets are identical from an intervallic perspective - transposed by a tritone. Such coincidences confirm to me that I am on the right path, at least musically.The reference to Turkey is not coincidental, as Ursula taught in Istanbul for many years.The initial texture of the piece - a kind of toccata with many repeated notes - is a purely musical homage to Ursula: she used this texture in some passages of her compositions. Besides that, this piece contains no direct quotation from Ursula's music.The work Hommage an Ursula is based on a series of 12 notes. The original version (Prime) and the inverted version (Inversed) alternate. From these 24 versions of the series, 24 sections result. I add a final section based on the original series ('Das Ende im Anfange'*); thus, there are 25 sections.To order the 5 motivic elements, I generate a Latin square. The 5 elements do not rotate, but, in each of the 5 main sections, the initial motive is always the same (A), and the order of the other four (BCDE) changes, permutating according to the following Latin square:A BCDEA CEBDA DBECA EDCBA BCDEThis work can then be considered as a derivation of the 'theme and variations' structure, with the peculiarity that there are five sub-themes that are rearranged in each of the variations.This piece lasts about 11 minutes. The premiere, performed by the composer (that is, by myself), took place on November 26, 2023, at the Konzertsaal of the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, during the concert 'Gedenkkonzert Ursula Görsch und Harald Kruse', as part of the 73rd Hausmusikwoche, organized by the DTKV (German Association of Sound Artists) in cooperation with the ABK (Circle of Composers in Bremen).This is not an easy piece to listen to. It is absolutely consistent but perhaps monotonous. During the premiere, the yawns of someone in the audience prompted me to briefly interrupt the performance to inform them that the end was near. After the concert, one of the organizers suggested to me that the piece was too 'anstrengend' (demanding, exhausting). It’s important you become aware of the beats during the whole learning process of the piece until it becomes automatic. Also follow the voice leading for each hand. I tried to do the voice leading when I compose this piece the most natural and anatomical for both hands. The piece is very piano-like and has a full sound.

His Piano Piece no. 2 (also for sale at SMP Press) is the composer's second and last avant-garde piece which develops the ideas further from Piano Piece no. 1.

Toccata № 1 (1983) Toccata № 1 was written in Minsk at the request of professor Yuri Gildiuk, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, to compose a piano piece for a talented student for the participation in the national competition. In 1983 the piece was performed for the first time by Andrey Sikorsky, who was awarded the First price of the Republican Piano Competition. It was later recorded on the Belarusian Radio. It is dedicated to Yuri Gildiuk. Toccata № 2 (1985) The piece was written in Minsk by order of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus for the National piano competition, following the tradition of performing a Belarusian composition as a compulsory assignment. It is dedicated to Timur Sergeyenia as the best performer of this piece at the competition. Afterwards it was often included in the programs of international piano competitions. It was also played in Germany and Netherlands. Sonata (1989) The one movement sonata, which was written in Druskinenkai (Lithuania), has the subtitle «Tragic». It was performed for the first time and recorded on the Belarusian Radio by the famous pianist Oleg Krimer (Germany). The piece was played by Beltiukov himself several times. It was also included in the concerts at the Congress of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Belarus, as well as in the concert programs of S. Beltiukov in the Netherlands (2002).

A short, fast paced, lively and modern (but not to modern!) gigue for solo piano (duration 2:00).This gigue for solo piano is based on a single hexachord, given at a number of transpositions and often stacked vertically.Inspired by the book Hexachords – a resource for composers by Sonny Kompanek, Mr. Munson's piano piece, #4 in a series, is based on the hexachord 22122.As stated in the Mr. Kompanek's book Each digit represents the number of half steps from the lowest to highest note of the hexachord, reading from left to right. So, at transposition 0, 22122 would represent c,d,e,f,g,a. There are 80 primary hexachords in the 12 tone scale.Yet displacement of notes, stacking of transpositions and other techniques provide a wealth of material. Mr. Munson elaborates: I take many liberties as the piece progresses and develops, where the primary principal that takes over at a point is motivic development – carved out from the principal hexachord. Tonal structures as well are often derived from selecting certain notes from stacked hexachords.
