5 Famous Songs by Bach for Flute Quintet
Quintette de Flûte : 5 flûtes
Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Flute - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957285

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Flute - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957285 Composed by Bach, Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 51 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #6748221. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.957285). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for flute quintet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. You can also buy each one individually by checking right at the end of each description of each work.1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. ID: S0.11897152: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. ID: S0.11899053: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. ID: S0.11900094: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. ID: S0.11901155: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. ID: S0.1190345Bonuses: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism; wh.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007136 Composed by Charles McCreery. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 9 pages. St Maur Music #3538153. Published by St Maur Music (A0.1007136). This piece is the penultimate number in the collection: Five Longer Piano Pieces. Duration: 5 minutes. Difficulty: Intermediate (Grade 3)Appropriate for schools and students. ‘Charles McCreerys beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ - Samantha Gillogly, violinist Charles McCreery was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford. While at Eton he won the Rowe Cup for junior pianists, and in his final year performed Weber's Konzertstück with a chamber orchestra. As an undergraduate he studied piano with Hilda Bor, and won a piano class, adjudicated by Herbert Howells, at the Willesden Music Festival. From 1988 to 1991 he held a Perrott Warrick Studentship from Trinity College, Cambridge, and he has a doctorate from Oxford University. From 1996 to 2000 he was a College Lecturer at Magdalen College, Oxford. In 1996 Charles McCreery's 'Elegy for Violin and Piano' was shortlisted for the Match Composition Prize. A comment on Charles McCreery’s collection of Tolkien songs: ‘For those who only know Tolkien via the recent blood-and-thunder films, this song-cycle by Charles McCreery will give a very different angle on the classic saga. Here we find a gentle and ethereal world, where rhythms lilt and words echo. The twelve songs, suitable for choir, evoke a dreamy, water-colour landscape with no harsh sounds, the tunes are singable and in a traditional style that Tolkien would surely have approved.’ - Dr Julia Gasper, LGSM A bound and illustrated vocal score (voice parts with piano accompaniment) of the complete set of his ‘Fourteen Tolkien Songs for Childrens Voices’ is available from Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Fourteen-Tolkien-Songs-Childrens-Voices/dp/1492187534 A CD of twelve of Charles McCreery’s orchestral pieces can also be purchased from Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Music-King-Eldred-opera-children/dp/B00LWEEMHA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&...... Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742401 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 111 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3005423. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742401). The four orchestral suites (called ouvertures by their author), BWV 1066–1069 are four suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. The name ouverture refers only in part to the opening movement in the style of the French overture, in which a majestic opening section in relatively slow dotted-note rhythm in duple meter is followed by a fast fugal section, then rounded off with a short recapitulation of the opening music. More broadly, the term was used in Baroque Germany for a suite of dance-pieces in French Baroque style preceded by such an ouverture. This genre was extremely popular in Germany during Bach's day, and he showed far less interest in it than was usual: Robin Stowell writes that Telemann's 135 surviving examples [represent] only a fraction of those he is known to have written;[1] Christoph Graupner left 85; and Johann Friedrich Fasch left almost 100. Bach did write several other ouverture (suites) for solo instruments, notably the Cello Suite no. 5, BWV 1011, which also exists in the autograph Lute Suite in G minor, BWV 995, the Keyboard Partita no. 4 in D, BWV 828, and the Overture in the French style, BWV 831 for keyboard. The two keyboard works are among the few Bach published, and he prepared the lute suite for a Monsieur Schouster, presumably for a fee, so all three may attest to the form's popularity.Scholars believe that Bach did not conceive of the four orchestral suites as a set (in the way he conceived of the Brandenburg Concertos), since the sources are various, as detailed below. The Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis catalogue includes a fifth suite, BWV 1070 in G minor. However, this work is highly unlikely to have been composed by J. S. Bach. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_suites_(Bach)

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1036106 Composed by Various. Arranged by Takahiro Kim. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 116 pages. Gordon Cherry #641207. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1036106). Below is a description of Volume 2 of Orchestral Excerpts for Tuba with Piano accompaniment arranged by Japanese Tubist Takahiro Kim. This new edition includes the following music: Piano accompaniments to the orchestral excerpts from major works for Tuba. This edition does not include a separate Tuba (the tuba part is in the piano accompaniment part though), however, if the performer needs these parts, they are readily available in the Complete Collection of Low Brass Orchestra Music compiled by Gordon Cherry. Many tuba players (at any level) will play in an orchestra or practice the tuba part of a piece as part of their studies. You will also have the opportunity to listen to reference recordings and study those pieces. In this textbook, I have arranged the tuba part so that it can be played with piano accompaniment. Some pieces are difficult to understand from the orchestral soundtrack alone. I have transcribed the piano part as simply as possible. By doing so, you will be able to clearly understand the relationship between the phrases, accompaniment patterns, harmonies, rhythms, and the relationship between the tuba part and the orchestra. I have included many parts other than the ones to be played in the audition pieces. This is because I want you to practice with a strong image of the musicality and sound feeling used in those pieces. I think you will be able to fully understand the outline of the music. Bruckner: Symphony No. 4-9 - You may only have the opportunity to practice the sections for auditions, such as No. 4 (4th movement) and No. 7 (4th movement). However, by practicing other sections as well, you will be able to study the ideal style, sounds, and harmonies that are appropriate for Bruckner's symphonies. By referring to the piano part, you will be able to understand the harmony very quickly. Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Overture - If you have a chance to practice with a pianist, try practicing at a slower tempo so that you can visualize the ideal tone and nuance of articulation for bass tuba while feeling the harmonic background of the piano playing. Of course, mp3 files will also help you. Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition - Each section is very unique, so it is best to practice with a clear purpose. In Bydlo, everything is arranged for concert use. So it will be possible to play it in a real concert or orchestral situation. If you play with the accompaniment in mind, your approach to the phrases will surely change. I recommend that you practice all sections of Pictures at an Exhibition with a pianist at a slow tempo. When you listen to recordings or practice by yourself, it may be difficult to pay attention to each harmony. Knowing a clear harmonic standard will help you take your sound and articulation in a more ideal direction.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1297340 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by David Mathie. 19th Century,Classical. Score. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #887420. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1297340). Here is what arranger David Mathie writes about the 5 Duos by Rossini.Gioachino Rossini was an Italian composer, born in 1792 and died in 1868. He was known primarily for his thirty-nine operas, although he did compose some chamber pieces and a few orchestral works. His 5 Duos for 2 Horns in E♠were probably written in 1806 when Rossini was fourteen and living in Bologna, although they weren’t published until 1861. While it may seem unusual for a fourteen-year-old to be composing, by then Rossini had already written his String Sonatas at the age of twelve, and those works are still performed today. An explanation for why Rossini would write a set of duets for horn may be that his father was a professional trumpet player, and taught his son Gioachino to play the horn at a very young age. These five pieces were written for the natural (valveless) horns of the time, and like the horn writing of Mozart some very technical passages can be found in the lower part, especially in duets four and five. We can also hear the future opera composer’s arias in number three. The duos will work quite well on recitals and also for casual duet playing. Because trombonists can never have enough practice in clefs, I have transcribed the duets into three versions each using bass, tenor and alto clefs. The 5 Duos in 3 Clefs by Rossini arranged by David Mathie are perfect studies for any aged performer to begin learning Tenor and Alto Clefs. The duet format allows the teacher to play alongside the student, which is always so valuable for learning. They are of moderate difficulty making them well-suited for the Clef Novice to begin adding these necessary tools to their technique.

Are your performers ready for more intermediate or advanced band repertoire, yet the band’s limited instrumentation holds them back?My Limited or Full series is geared toward the success of small bands with limited instrumentation. These pieces aim at giving small bands more advanced music within the framework of a young band arrangement. If you like the music, these pieces also sound great with a larger full instrumentation.PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming (originally known as Es ist din Ros entsprungen) is a German Christmas Carol and Marian hymn in mixed meter. First sung in the 15th Century and first published int he 16th Century, this hymn is still popular in the 21st Century. In multiple different contexts, the hymn compares the beauty of Christmas to that of a lovely rose. The most common harmonization to this melody was composted by Michael Praetorius in 1609, and the original part-writing contains elements of the Renaissance madrigal. Although this band arrangement is rescored with different part-writing, it pays some homage to the musical traditions employed in the original carol. This theme and variations is a mixture of four different scoring methods: modern Christmas Carol; gently-applied lyrical contemporary; Renaissance imitation; and a bombastic, Romantic orchestral finish. This piece features multiple subtle musical sensibilities and a gentle introduction into the world of mixed meter. I sincerely hope you enjoy this arrangement!

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1333792 Composed by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 46 pages. Cypress Publishing #920070. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1333792). The two orchestral suites drawn from Grieg's incidental music for Ibsen's Peer Gynt have been symphonic repertory favorites since they were written. This set for string quartet contains Morning Mood, Solveig's Song and Anitra's Dance, all famous from the suites, plus the haunting and little known Solveig's Lullaby, the final number in the play, which was not included in either suite.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.
