Â The lyrics are a tender love story about how throughout our relationship everything is fine as long as I can touch the hand of you. Â In order to emphasize this simple and powerful emotion, for the first verse I simplified the original ballad's thick chords into a more shaped and expressive two part writing, just single notes in each hand; then for the second verse I did a reharmonization of the melody, adding some simple harmony and octaves for the climax; then back to two part for a slower, softer ending. Â I also wrote a new slow introductory section with my own lyrics and melody that is based on what follows. Â An incredibly beautiful piece, this is perfect for any wedding today, whether vintage or modern. Â Then she starts talking to the flowers, asking them about her lover. Â It concludes with the famous he loves me...he loves me not.... as she plucks the petals from the daisy. Â My arrangement adds quite a bit of drama to the piece. Â I have converted the main theme into an oom-pah-pah waltz and greatly increased the tempo to a brisk concert waltz for the first two verses. Â The B theme, where she talks to the flowers, resorts to a slower waltz ballad similar to the original. Â There is then a brief recapitulation of the oom-pah-pah theme building up to the suspenseful climax. Â I created a lento ending as the answers to her questions slowly unfold. Â This is a great concert piece full of passion and energy that can be dramatized. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1217366). I Love You Truly is based on the 1906 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond; a song which was the #1 wedding song for over 50 years. Â I have created an arrangement with 4 variations with each variation getting further from the original theme and each progressing further into jazz. Â Variation I - I utilize rich chords of the ballads of that period while keeping the sung melody close to the original. Â Variation II - I rhythmically augment the melody, simplify the texture, and add chromatic passing tones and progressions. Â Variation III - I set this in stride jazz with syncopated riffing in the melody. Â Variation IV - I make this one a slower, bolder jazz with various triplet patterns on fragments of melody and a strong jazz chord progression based on fifths. Â This is a gentle jazzy update to the most popular wedding song of all time; perfect for any wedding today, whether vintage or modern.
