Oboe Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1018903 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6064741. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018903). Programme Notes: Mornings are powerful and evocative moments. The chorus of birds, one species after another, unite in a wild and genuine polyphony while the dew and mist evaporate upon the rising of the sun, encouraging goosebumps and shivers from an open window, tempered or exhilarated by a cup of coffee. Have you ever actively witnessed the sun’s sultry and intense ascension from the cradle of the horizon? That is what this piece, Aubade, or dawn song, is about. An aubade is the twin of a night-time serenade; an aubade is a love song originating amongst the medieval Provençal troubadours, depicting the morning departure between two lovers. A song for the slow cosmic percolation of a late summer morning. On a personal level, the composer is reminded of his own experiences, camping in Northern Canada, a simpler and less demanding time. This piece formally begins the series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection in this case is with his first symphony; I envisioned, once my piece concludes, his beautiful drawn-out chords presenting themselves--the dawn of his special genius.About the Composer:Programme Notes: It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the dawn. – Thomas Fuller Mornings are powerful and evocative moments. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Organ: 3-staff - Intermediate SKU: LO.70-1401S Composed by Robert Lau. Sacred, General, Hymn-Based Collection. Sacred Music Press #70/1401S. Published by Sacred Music Press (LO.70-1401S). UPC: 000308063707.In a simple yet quite artistic style, Robert Lau has handsomely set three beloved American hymn tunes. Each is adroitly fashioned using contrasting compositional methods resulting in a practical collection in which each piece comfortably stands alone or as part of a suite of hymns. Whatever its ultimate use, these attractive settings will be a welcome addition to any organist's repertoire.

An aubade is a song in honor of the slow cosmic percolation of a late summer morning. On a personal level, the composer is reminded of his own experiences camping in Northern Canada as a young man–a simpler and less demanding time. This piece formally begins the series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies–his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!–though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his first symphony; I envisioned, once my piece concludes, his beautiful drawn-out chords presenting themselves–the dawn of his special genius.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Percussion Ensemble - Level 4 - SKU: A0.881252 Composed by Gary Powell Nash. African,Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 122 pages. Gary Powell Nash #3553601. Published by Gary Powell Nash (A0.881252). Han River Fantasy Suite is based on and inspired by Nash’s first trip to Vietnam in 2007. Commissioned by a percussion and horn duo, it is a five movement chamber concerto with mvts 1 and 2 performed continuously, as are mvts 4 and 5, giving the aural perception of 3 movements. Mvt. 1, Dawning and mvt. 2, Morning Power Walks stem from Nash’s morning routine during that particular journey as he walked along the Han River in Danang, Vietnam every morning. Mvt 1 is a slow and lyrical prelude, with vibraphone and chimes serving as melodic and colorful supporting lines for the horn solo and that immediately proceeds to Mvt. 2, a fast and somewhat fiery movement, alluding to a fast power walk. Mvt. 3. Moonlight Stroll is slow and lyrical, highlighted by bowed vibes and triangle being struck while placed on a timpani during a glissando in the middle section. Mvt. 4, Boat Ride is a fast and dance-like, composed in compound duple meter and transitions to mvt. 5, Going Home, in a slightly faster simple quadruple meter.

String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1438476 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by S.Reilly. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music,Wedding. 6 pages. Sterling and Strings #1018495. Published by Sterling and Strings (A0.1438476). JS Bach's popular Prelude in G major for solo cello is often requested for weddings and other occasions. As a cellist, it occurred to me that rest of my trio might like to play along, so one morning I felt inspired to create this arrangement! It had to be relatively simple, so the cello melody was easy to follow, but also add some harmonic interest here and there. I hope this version will be a fun way for the entire group to participate in what would normally be a solo venture.

Organ - Level 3 - SKU: A0.836716 Composed by Brian Joyce. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 12 pages. Brian Joyce #4966351. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836716). For many years I have enjoyed playing the simpler manualiter chorale preludes of Zachau and J. G. Walter in the old Peters edition many organists will be familiar with. Then there are the delightful little preludes of Ernst Pepping which I first heard as a teenager in a recording by E. Power Biggs. I had something of a cross between these two influences in mind for this new set of English preludes. There are some finger-twisting moments here and there, but by and large these manuals-only pieces are meant to be shorter, more direct, and simpler (in concept, if not execution!) than my larger sets of preludes. The hymns dealt with here represent a useful mix of liturgical purposes and include Holy, Holy, Holy!, Come, Thou Almighty King, When Morning Gilds the Skies, Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Beneath the Cross of Jesus, The Church’s One Foundation, and Christ the Lord is Risen Today. As always, sources and timings are included and the score prints in landscape format.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1417150 Composed by Henry Dixon Loes. Arranged by Laura G Cole. Children,Christian,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 6 pages. Laura G. Cole #998740. Published by Laura G. Cole (A0.1417150). This piano solo simplifies the childhood church song “This Little Light Of Mine†into a fitting prelude for Sunday morning worship. I took my inspiration from Mozart’s Twinkle Twinkle Variations, but kept it super simple. This solo is constantly moving and flowing, but hopefully is softened into a meditation or reflection that can be used to begin a worship service. I hope that you enjoy this version of “This Little Light Of Mineâ€.
