Sakura Sakura ("Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms"), also known as Sakura, is a traditional Japanese folk song depicting spring, the season of cherry blossoms. Contrary to popular belief, the song did not originate in ancient times; it was a popular, urban melody of the Edo period and was adopted as a piece for beginning koto students in the Tokyo Academy of Music Collection of Japanese Koto Music issued in 1888 (in English) by the Department of Education. The song has been popular since the Meiji period, and the lyrics in their present form were attached then. It is often sung in international settings as a song representative of Japan. "Spirited Away" (千と千尋の神隠し) is a 2001 Japanese film by Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿). It was voted #4 of BBC's 100 Greatest Films of the 21st Century (the highest-ranking anime film)!

This Arrangement for String Quartet has the intention of taking advantage of the large range of colours that bowed instruments can reproduce, featuring a variety of techniques, nothing else to say but "enjoy playing it!"

"Bella ciao" ("Goodbye beautiful") is an Italian protest folk song that originated in the late 19th century, sung by the mondina workers in protest to the harsh working conditions in the paddy fields of North Italy. The song was modified and adopted as an anthem of the anti-fascist resistance by the Italian partisans between 1943 and 1945 during the Italian Resistance, the resistance of Italian partisans against the Nazi German forces occupying Italy, and, during the Italian Civil War, the Italian partisan struggle against the fascist Italian Social Republic and its Nazi German allies. Versions of "Bella ciao" continue to be sung worldwide as an anti-fascist hymn of freedom and resistance.In 2017 and 2018, the song received renewed popularity due to the singing of "Bella ciao" multiple times in the Spanish television series Money Heist. The character Tokyo recounts in one of her narrations, "The life of the Professor revolved around a single idea: Resistance. His grandfather, who had fought against the fascists in Italy, taught him the song and he taught us."The song is played in emblematic moments in the series as a metaphor for freedom.

The Red Violin is a 1998Canadian drama film directed by Fran�ois Girard. It spans three centuries andfive countries as it tells the story of a mysterious violin and its manyowners. The film received an Academy Award for the Best OriginalScore (John Corigliano), 8 Genie Awards, 9 Jutra Awards, a Golden Reel Award(for sound editing), and a Best Artistic Contribution Award from the TokyoInternational Film Festival. The film tells the story of a perfect violinknown as "the Red Violin" for its rich red colour. In each setting the dialogue is spoken in theappropriate language. Also, a variation of the movie's signature violin solo (Anna?sTheme) by composer John Corigliano is played at least once in theperiod it is played, with the exception of Cremona, where the solo is beinghummed by Anna herself. Throughout the movie, the solos are played by notedviolinist Joshua Bell.
