String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1183534 Composed by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 28 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783207. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183534). How is it that one can be born a slave in French colonial Guadeloupe and rise to be among Paris’ musical giants, to become a colonel in the French Army as well as the frequent dinner guest of princes and potentates? The story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, is surely an interesting one, even the stuff of which movies are made.Joseph Bologne’s father, Georges Bologne de Saint-Georges was a French planter. Saint-Georges was the name of his plantation. He impregnated Anne, the Senegalese slave of his wife, who bore him a son in 1745. Uncharacteristic of many of these sort of relationships he acknowledged the child was his and gave him his family name. When he was seven Bologne’s father took him to Paris for his education, enrolling him in a boarding school. Two years later he and the child’s mother returned to France and set up housekeeping as a family in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. At age thirteen Joseph’s father enrolled him in the Royal Technical Academy of Fencing and Swordsmanship. He quickly became the finest swordsman in the academy, perhaps in all of Paris. Upon graduation he was made an Officer of the King’s Bodyguard and a chevalier (an honorary knighthood). He went on to serve tours of duty in the French Army during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and later after the French Revolution, where he was Colonel and commander of an all-Black regiment of the Revolutionary Army. All this in spite of the fact that French law forbade him, a man of African heritage, to become a citizen, to retain his father’s royal title of “Gentleman of the King’s Chamber,†or to marry outside his class. There is limited information about Bologne’s musical training, but he was obviously so well-skilled that Italian violinist-composer Antonio Lolli (1725-1802) wrote two violin concertos for him and French composer François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) dedicated his set of String Trios, Op. 9 to Bologne. Lolli may have worked with him on violin technique and Gossec composition, but this may be apocryphal. Bologne played in Gossec’s orchestra, and was later both leader and conductor of the group. As a composer Joseph Bologne was quite prolific, composing six operas, fourteen violin concertos, four symphonies concertantes, and numerous chamber works and songs. His Six String Quartets, Op. 1, Nos. 1-6 date from 1770-1771 and were published by the Paris publishing house of Jean-Georges Sieber (1738-1822) in 1773 (There are a total of 18 quartets: Six Quartets “au goût du jour†[up-to-date] from 1779 and the Opus 14 set of six which date from 1785). The Opus 1 quartets are dedicated to Anne Louis Alexandre de Montmorency (1724-1812), 7th Prince of Robeck (Robecq) and Grand Duke of Spain. The Opus 1 quartets all display a similarity to the Italian opera overtures from earlier in the Eighteenth Century (often called “sinfoniaâ€) in that they have an overall “A-B-A†form with the ‘A’ sections being robust allegros and all ‘B’ sections marked “rondo.†As such, in arranging them for string orchestra it seemed quite natural to rename them “overtures.†Certain liberties were taken by the arranger in order to maintain the integrity of the classic Rondo formula. All six have been arranged in this manner for string orchestra. They vary in length from twelve to almost twenty minutes. If you wish to obtain parts, write to debbaut@gmail.com and pay $42 via venmo or $40 via personal check and they will be sent to you in pdf format.

String Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.1010888 Composed by John McNeil Johnston. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 18 pages. John M. Johnston #2914155. Published by John M. Johnston (A0.1010888). Johnston: Divertimento for Strings: Full Score OnlyDivertimento for Strings was written for advanced Youth or High School string orchestra. It is an exploration of counterpoint, chromaticism, and texture within a construct of playability. As a ‘teaching piece’, it can be useful to point out the various forms: I. Allegro is in a bare-bones Sonata Allegro form. II. Adagio is reminiscent in the latter bars of a Habanera. III. Waltz is just that, a wistful, swirling dance movement. IV. Gigue hearkens back to the Baroque style in compound meter, and is embellished with 19th century chromatic harmonies. This piece was originally written for the Wilton High School Orchestra • Wilton, CT, USA under the direction of, and at the suggestion of Marshall Meade in 2016. I hope you enjoy it! - Mac Johnston Instrumentation: Violins 1A & B, Violins 2 A & B, Violas, Violoncellos 1 & 2, and Double Basses. Copyright © 2016 John McNeil Johnston • all rights reserved.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1404615 Composed by Georges Bizet. Arranged by Donald Jay Smith. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Romantic Period. 164 pages. Donald Jay Smith Music #987680. Published by Donald Jay Smith Music (A0.1404615). I adapted this movement of Bizet's only symphony for my high school orchestra so that they would have the experience and challenge of performing a major symphonic work written by Bizet when he was 17 years old-like many of them. The movement fit programing concerns (only lasting 12 minutes, 8 minutes without the repeat) and instrumentation demands for the orchestra I had at the school at that time. I found limited similar repertoire available that was appropriate to challenge my students. I was also personally motivated to dig deeper into this piece by adapting it, much like early composers learned by serving as copyists for previous musical legends. More recently, I performed this as a guest conductor with a senior level honors orchestra in Massachussetts. In both cases the work was the focus of musical stimulation as well as inspiring fully engaged student conversation about many aspects of this movement. In short, the students enjoyed preparing and performing the piece, almost as much as the audiences were impressed by the performances. Hopefully Bizet's teacher at the Paris Conservatiore, Charles Gounod, rewarded Bizet with a good grade! I put in the extra time to publish this so that many other students would have the opportunity to study this piece, composer, style and period of music. I sincerely hope that you and your orchestra will enjoy Allegro vivo from Symphonie in C Major!

DescriptionDo you want to bring Georg Friedrich Handel's Atalanta to life? Introducing Handel's powerful work for trumpet solo and chamber orchestra, as played by the world's premier soloist Alison Balson and Trevor Pinnock. Perfect for church, school and professional orchestras,'Händel: Atalanta' will give your performance exceptional energy and dynamic expression. Get this timeless masterpiece and experience a stunning work of genius.Advanced Intermediate Format: Concert, 9 x 12 inches44 pagesFull Score and Orchestral Parts Instrumentation: Basso continuo, Trumpet, Chamber Orchestra (0.2.0.1  0.1.0.0  harpsich. str.) + Trumpet and Continuo reductionDuration: 4 min.Program NotesAbout the ComposerThe 'Atalanta, HWV 35: Ouverture' was composed by the renowned Baroque composer, Georg Friedrich Händel. His imaginative works make him one of the most important figures of the Baroque period. Other well-known works of Handel's include 'The Messiah', 'Water Music', and 'Music for the Royal Fireworks'. He was a master at combining various instruments and emotional elements to create enthralling music.Musical CharacteristicsThe 'Atalanta, HWV 35: Ouverture' is characterized as a light and airy composition, made up of a combination of a trumpet solo and chamber orchestra. The movement transitions from a gentle, unhurried 'Largo' into an energetic and lively 'Allegro'. The bright, steady tempo of the 'Allegro' creates a lively and captivating atmosphere. The trumpet solo and chamber orchestra complement each other wonderfully, resulting in an energetic and joyous musical journey. The Composition ItselfThe 'Atalanta, HWV 35: Ouverture' is presented here by trumpeter Alison Balson and conductor Trevor Pinnock and The English Concert. The piece begins with a wonderfully flavorful 'Largo' section, featuring Balson's ethereal, small touches of the trumpet as the orchestra gently sets the musical groundwork. This is soon followed by an equally uplifting 'Allegro'. Balson's trumpet solo is full of passion and energy, creating a bold and energetic atmosphere. As the chamber orchestra grows more intense, the piece builds to a thrilling conclusion. Programmatic InterpretationThe 'Atalanta, HWV 35: Ouverture' is based on the ancient Greek myth of Atalanta. In the myth, Atalanta is a swift and brave Princess who is challenged by a band of young suitors to a race. To the winners, she offers a prize of marriage. As we listen to Handel's composition, we can imagine the race beginning with the slow and steady 'Largo', as Atalanta calmly assesses the present, and takes her time to decide her path. As the 'Allegro' begins, we can feel her strength and power as she embarks on her journey, full of excitement and determination. As the piece builds, we can feel her courage and enthusiasm as she confronts the race ahead. Finally, we can picture Atalanta achieving success as the piece ends in jubilation.About the album 'Magic Trumpet'Sound the Trumpet is an album of glorious baroque music associated with royalty where Alison brings the music of the Purcell and Händel to life. collaboration between the English trumpetist, Alison Balson, the conductor and harpsichordist, Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert baroque soloists.ARRANGEMENT DETAILS Arrangement Format Chamber OrchestraDifficulty Advanced IntermediateGENRE DETAILSGenres Baroque, Classical, Contest / Festival, Instructional, WeddingFULL SCORE AND ORCHESTRAL PARTS AVALIABLE FOR PURCHASE AT:https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/handel-atalanta-hwv-35-ouverture-largo-allegro-as-played-by-alisson-balson-and-trevor-pinnock-digital-sheet-music/22581106?aff_id=728965

Sherry Lewis Publishing #6132891. Published by Sherry Lewis Publishing (A0.521481). Symphony No. 5, Mov. I, Allegro con brio (abridged), Beethoven, String Orchestra of 2 violins, viola, cello, string bassThis was a very fun project and I think I caught the important parts and did a fairly seamless cut so that the performance is down to 5'30...I hope you like it. I think it came off really well. Score: 15 pages parts: 14 pages time: 5:30 MY QUARTET VERSIONS, in short notice work fine for solo, two parts and three parts however I also offer individual versions for one, two and three parts that are more detailed for these ensembles. Please visit https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=sherry+lewis+publishing for all of the titles I offer. If you can’t find a title then contact me through stringquartet@hotmail.com and I’ll give you the link back to Sheet Music Plus’s listing. VERSATILE Titles that include four parts are written with the idea that they can be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians. Most of the contemporary/popular titles include a chord chart for a bass instrument. PRACTICE needs would vary according to the level of the performers but my goal is to be sight-readable for most performers and groups. AUDIO SAMPLE The 30 second mp3 is frequently shortened and may not start at the introduction to get to the reprise. The actual introduction will be in the sheet music. LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations. ARRANGEMENTS usually follow the original version. There is an mp3 where you can hear 30 seconds and get a feeling of the originality of the work. EXCELLENT for corporate events, weddings, social gatherings and recitals. APPROPRIATE for students and schools. CHURCH REPERTOIRE I’m always adding more titles. Thank you for your purchase!

Op. 85/12 Horn: Abendlied (Evening Song) by Robert Schumann Op. 85, No. 12. Duration: 3:10 Score: 3 pg. 29 ms. common time. Lento – quarter note = 40. Piano part: 2 pg. solo part 1 pg.<br> Schumann Background<br> Robert Schumann (1810 –1856) was a German composer and, moreover,a music critic. Music historians, as well as critics, generally agree that heis one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. In the first place, Schumann was studying tobecome a lawyer. He quit law school, however, to pursue a career as a concert pianist. Be that as it may, he injured his hand andruined any chance of success as a virtuoso pianist. As a result, Schumann turnedhis musical attention to composing.<br> <br> The Beginning of the End<br> In1848, Robert Schumann was in fact only 38 years old. LA MUSICA NOTTURNA DI MADRID String Orchestra of violin I & II, viola, cello I & cello II/string bass Score: 8 pages parts: 9 pages time: 3'30 MY QUARTET VERSIONS, in short notice work fine for solo, two parts and three parts however I also offer individual versions for one, two and three parts that are more detailed for these ensembles.

Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 for Trombone (Euphonium) and Piano
Trombone et Piano

Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043239 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Instructional,Patriotic,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 18 pages. Diego Marani #647927. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1043239). The best known March of the set, it had its premiere in Liverpool on 19 October 1901, with Elgar conducting the Liverpool Orchestral Society. The Trio contains the tune known as Land of Hope and Glory. In 1902 the tune was re-used, in modified form, for the Land of hope and glory section of his Coronation Ode for King Edward VII. The words were further modified to fit the original tune, and the result has since become a fixture at the Last Night of the Proms, and an English sporting anthem. In the United States, the Trio section Land of Hope and Glory of March No. 1 is often known simply as Pomp and Circumstance or as The Graduation March and is played as the processional tune at virtually all high school and some college graduation ceremonies. It was first played at such a ceremony on 28 June 1905, at Yale University, where the Professor of Music Samuel Sanford had invited his friend Elgar to attend commencement and receive an honorary doctorate of music. Elgar accepted, and Sanford made certain he was the star of the proceedings, engaging the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, the College Choir, the Glee Club, the music faculty members, and New York musicians to perform two parts from Elgar's oratorio The Light of Life and, as the graduates and officials marched out, Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. Elgar repaid the compliment by dedicating his Introduction and Allegro to Sanford later that year. The tune soon became de rigueur at American graduations, used primarily as a processional at the opening of the ceremony. This arrangement for trombone or euphonium (C and Bb) with piano is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
