Il concerto per pianoforte e orchestra n. 20, KV 466, è una composizione di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, completata il 10 febbraio1785 a Vienna.Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart finì di comporre il Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra n. 20 in re minore K 466 il 10 febbraio 1785. Il giorno successivo lo eseguì come solista a Vienna in uno dei suoi concerti per abbonamento che, a quel tempo, avevano molto richiamo. Narra la leggenda che Mozart distribuì agli orchestrali le copie appena trascritte dell'ultimo movimento, al momento stesso di andare in scena. Il concerto si svolse nella sala Mehlgrube e vi parteciparono anche il padre Leopold, appositamente venuto da Salisburgo.L'Andante del secondo tempo è una romanza in 2/2 in forma ABACA. Come fa spesso, qui Mozart gioca di contrasti, espliciti e mascherati. Il primo contrasto è con il carattere del movimento che lo ha preceduto. Nell'inizio del secondo movimento il tema è sereno, apparentemente idilliaco e la tonalità solare (Si bemolle maggiore) lo conferma. È il tempo scelto (2/2) che ci fornisce il primo indizio sulle intenzioni dell'autore. A differenza di altri pezzi di grande lirismo il tempo non è un morbido ternario (3/4, 6/8), né un 4/4 con il suo respiro ampio ed il suo alternarsi di battere forti e smussati, ma un marziale 2/2. Il tema principale viene esposto dal solista, ripreso poco dopo dall'orchestra, passa dall'una all'altro con la solita maestria orchestrale mozartiana. Il secondo tema si presenta immediatamente con un salto di ottava ed intervalli ampi si ritrovano in tutto il suo svolgimento. È questo espediente più volte iterato che Mozart usa per costruire tensioni armoniche in crescendo che portano al minore e ad atmosfere già distanti dal primo tema. Con grazia sorprendente Mozart torna quindi sul primo tema per la seconda sezione. La terza sezione tematica precipita in minore, e questa volta con una serie di scale forsennate che richiamano alcuni passaggi dello sviluppo del primo movimento. Gli accordi verticali in forte (bisognerà aspettare Beethoven per i primi fortissimo) marcano di brusche fermate e riprese il rincorrersi delle scale. Un arpeggio rallentato e un arabesco riportano al tema principale che chiude questa pagina in un finto clima di riconciliazione, aprendo al frenetico finale.

The entry for this work was composed in Salzburg in January 1762. It was written for the harpsichord and is hence usually performed on the harpsichord, though other keyboard instruments may be used. This piece is a single bar motif which is developed into an eight-bar exposition, which is repeated, and then modulated for another eight bars before being repeated again. This arrangement is for two clarinets.

È la prima delle tre opere italiane scritte dal compositore salisburghese su libretto di Lorenzo Da Ponte.Musicato da Mozart all'età di ventinove anni, il testo dapontiano fu tratto dalla commedia Le nozze di Figaro di Beaumarchais (autore della trilogia di Figaro : Il barbiere di Siviglia , Il matrimonio di Figaro e La madre colpevole ).Dal Terzo Atto - Finale Ecco la marcia, andiamo (Susanna, La Contessa, Il Conte, Figaro; Coro).Le Nozze di Figaro è una delle più famose opere di Mozart e dell'intero teatro musicale, ed è la prima di una serie di felici collaborazioni tra Mozart e Da Ponte, che ha portato anche alla creazione del Don Giovanni e di Così fan tutte .Fu Mozart stesso a portare una copia della commedia di Beaumarchais a Da Ponte, che la tradusse in lingua italiana (tuttora la lingua ufficiale dell'opera lirica) e che (d'accordo con Mozart) rimosse tutti gli elementi di satira politica dalla storia. L'opera fu scritta da Mozart in gran segreto (la commedia era stata vietata dall'imperatore Giuseppe II, poiché attica l'odio tra le varie classi sociali). Questo è un periodo in cui è stato scritto. Eppure è solo dopo aver convinto l'imperatore della rottura delle scene politicamente più discusse che hanno visto il permesso di rappresentare l'opera.Inoltre, la scena finale del terzo atto, che comprendeva un balletto e una pantomima, si dovette scontrare con un divieto imperiale di rappresentare balli in scena. Racconta Da Ponte, nelle sue memorie , che lui e Mozart, non intendono rinunciare al finale come l'avevo concepito, invitarono l'imperatore ad assistere a una prova, dove si sono giocati quel pezzo muto. L'imperatore subito ordinò che la musica fosse reinserita.Così Le Nozze di Figaro , finita di comporre il 29 aprile, fu messa in scena al Burgtheater di Vienna, il 1º maggio 1786 con Nancy Storace (Susanna), Francesco Benucci (Figaro) e Michael Kelly (tenore) (Basilio e Don Curzio) , diretta dal compositore nelle prime due rappresentazioni e da Joseph Weigl nelle repliche. Ottenne un successo strepitoso, al punto che l'Imperatore, dopo la terza recita, dovette emanare un decreto per limitare le richieste di bis, in modo che le repliche non durassero troppo. Ancor più grande fu il successo al Teatro Nazionale di Praga (dal 17 gennaio 1787), colomba (una detta di Mozart): «Qui non sta che che del Figaro, non si suona, non si strombetta, non si canta, non si fischia che il Figaro, non si va a sentire altra opera che il Figaro. Eternamente Figaro! ».L'opera è in quattro atti e ruota attorno alle trame del Conte d'Almaviva, invaghito della cameriera della Contessa, Susanna, alla quale cerca di imporre lo ius primae noctis. La vicenda si svolge in un intreccio serrato e folle, in cui donne e uomini si contrappongono nel corso di una giornata di passione travolgente, piena sia di eventi drammatici che comici, e nella quale alla fine i servi si dimostrano più signori e intelligenti dei loro padroni. L'opera è per Mozart (e prima di lui per Beaumarchais) un pretesto per prendersi gioco delle classi sociali dell'epoca che da lì a poco saranno travolte dai fatti con la Rivoluzione francese. L'intera vicenda può anche essere letta come una metafora delle diverse fasi dell'amore: Cherubino e Barbarina rappresentano l'amore acerbo, Susanna e Figaro l'amore che sboccia, il Conte e la Contessa l'amore logorato e senza più alcuna passione, Marcellina e don Bartolo l'amore maturo.

Don Giovanni has just met Zerlina and her betrothed, Masetto. In an attempt to distract Masetto and have him removed from the scene, Giovanni offers to host a wedding celebration for the couple at his castle. When Masetto has left, Giovanni attempts to seduce Zerlina to accompany him to his castle. However, after the end of the duet Donna Elvira arrives and thwarts the seduction, and leaves with Zerlina.

La Sinfonia n. 25 in Sol minore K 183, chiamata anche la Piccola sinfonia in Sol minore, è una sinfonia di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composta a Salisburgo nell'ottobre 1773, poco tempo dopo aver terminato l'opera seria Lucio Silla.L'apertura a razzo di Mannheim (un passaggio melodico rapidamente ascendente che tipicamente ha una linea crescente arpeggiata) è stata citata da Beethoven nella sua prima sonata per pianoforte, come soggetto principale del primo movimento. L'Allegro con brio sostituisce l'Allegro spiritoso delle precedenti sinfonie. Si inizia con un ritmo sincopato caratterizzato da un tema breve ripetuto più volte ed infine ripreso dall'oboe in forma malinconica e delicata. In tutto il movimento il ritmo rimane serrato.Con le sue linee melodiche ad ampi balzi e i suoi vivaci soggetti musicali, questa sinfonia è caratteristica dello stile Sturm und Drang. Essa condivide alcune caratteristiche con altre sinfonie Sturm und Drang di questa epoca, ed è probabilmente ispirata dalla Sinfonia n. 39 di Joseph Haydn, anch'essa in Sol minore.

Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola and 2 Violoncellos, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a String Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 2 French Horns and 1 Trombone, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions.
