The conducting chain represents one of the basic skills necessary for conducting an ensemble or wind band. Written around 1820 by Italian composer Saverio Raffaele Mercadante, this engraving of his CONCERTO FOR HORN is in the original key and has been meticulously edited. Consisting of two sections, the beautiful, plaintive opening slow section (Larghetto alla Siciliano) is about 2.5 minutes in length and works well as a stand-alone feature to showcase the sonority of the horn. It would be perfect for a talented high school player. The concluding fast section (Allegretto brillante) is bubbly, delightful, and quite technically challenging in a few spots. The concert band / wind ensemble accompaniment (available separately) is scored to prevent overpowering the soloist and will work with smaller groups for senior recitals, etc. NOTE: This download is for the 4-page SOLO PART ONLY. If you wish to purchase the band parts and full score, please visit www.bandroom.com. This SOLO PART will also work with the Kuyper setting for piano accompaniment. It will probably be less easy for you to understand than for me to explain it to you; for you are, I think, the most perfect example of feminine impenetrability that could possibly be found. We had spent a long day together, and it had seemed to me short. We had promised one another that we would think the same thoughts and that our two souls should become one soul; a dream which is not original, after all, except that, dreamed by all men, it has been realised by none. In the evening you were a little tired, and you sat down outside a new café at the corner of a new boulevard, still littered with plaster and already displaying proudly its unfinished splendours. The café glittered. King Heinrich appears and assembles his troops to go into battle next to the River Scheldt. The hair-raising and climactic music is a joy to perform and listen to. This wonderful arrangement by Ralph Sauer for 8-part Trombone Ensemble and optional Timpani is about 5 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers. It is likely these Middle Eastern cultures play more of a role in American fiddling (and American music in general) than previously thought.In Harmony I use descriptive phrases printed in the score to indicate the temperament and journey of the music. Reaching Out begins the piece with its inviting and inquisitive drones. Throughout the piece there are several interpretations of the material with canonic and fugal writing. The music of Harmony is based on the same material constructed in a slow tempo in the beginning, a moderate tempo in the middle of the piece, and a fast fiddling tempo near the end. With hope in heart and music, I contribute Harmony on this painful day of remembrance. My Prelude on the hymn tune Terra Beata (This Is My Father's World) is intended for church pianists looking for interesting arrangements of hymns familiar to their congregations. It is one of two settings for piano of Terra Beata that I have written. In this setting there are two statements of the melody. The first places the melody in the soprano register with a repeated-note pattern serving as the accompaniment in the left hand. The second places the melody in the bass register moving at half the previous speed and accompanied by a downward moving arpeggiation pattern played by the right hand. The second half of the melody returns to the soprano, harmonized with 4-note chords, and accompanied by rapid downward moving scales played by the left hand. In the final phrase, the pace slows, leading inconclusively to a chord of the 13th on G-flat at mid-phrase, before resuming in the main key of E-flat and ending triumphantly with a repeated-note trumpet-like pattern. I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process. I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

This version is arranged and transposed to a suitable key as a duet for two Flutes. The original note values have been doubled to make the rhythms easier to read. There is an additional and optional Bass part at the end of the PDF which can be played on any bass instrument to add texture and harmonic context. The full-length youtube performance is the Clarinet version of this duet and includes the optional bass. One of the famous rags recorded on piano roll by Joplin in 1902.This arrangement has been made simpler to allow more pianists to have a go at this great rag.The main change was to convert it to 4/4 instead of the (2/4 common two-step time signature for rags). The main reason is for easy of reading- and maybe easier on the eye to comprehendI have taken out nearly all of the large stretches and limited the harmony parts to what is essential and nothing more. There are no big leaps or complex rhythms. It is 4 pages long and 4 mins 30 in length. The youtube link has the full score for you to assess suitability.I have set it for intermediate player- it's great fun and would be useful as a showpiece, something to play for concerts, recitals, productions, etc.
