I sketched the idea while sitting on the rooftop patio watching the sunset in the Ozarks. It was first performed at a dinner party with a colleague of mine in July of 2010. It has now been arranged for violin, viola, cello and piano and is a depiction of how I felt watching a beautiful sunset in a very peaceful environment.tylermerideth.com

For a Synagogue In Pittsburgh, In C Minor will touch your heart.Dedicated to the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue tragedy of 2018, this mood piece is best suited for Jewish religious events; however, because it is an instrumental, it also is effective as a prelude piece for Christian liturgical services. A piano solo version of this was performed Oct. 27, 2019, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, by the music collective Sacred & Secular before the start of the service. One congregation member, who also is a member of Sacred & Secular, was moved to tears. In terms of technical proficiency, For a Synagogue In Pittsburgh is an excellent fit for intermediate students/players and would fit best in recitals and/or concerts that include two or three other introspective-sounding pieces. More famous examples would include Debussy's Clair de Lune and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.Plans are underway to expand this ensemble arrangement (string quartet, offered with score and parts) to include an SATB vocal arrangement and make it available on Mo-Mutt Music's Sheet Music Plus page.

It celebrates the natural beauty of the Sandhills, prairies, forests, and bluffs, along with the strength of its people, its flourishing family friendly communities, and its deep and rich traditions in the arts. I have lived near mountains, near oceans, and visited some of the most beautiful places in the world, but none of those places have ever felt as much like home as Nebraska. Nebraska, My Heartland incorporates the poetry of both Willa Cather, the famous Nebraskan poet and writer who helped the rest of America gain an appreciation for the pioneer life, and Veronica Torraca-Bragdon, a contemporary poet and friend whose heart will always belong to Nebraska. Cather’s poem, Prairie Spring was chosen because it vividly portrays the struggles of the pioneers who originally settled here, yet juxtaposes this struggle with youthful determination, and the optimism and enthusiasm brought about by hope. Veronica’s poem, titled Nebraska, is the centerpiece for the fanfare and celebration of a state that abounds with success in all of the ways that make Nebraska a great place to live. The music begins as the sun is about to rise and burst forth with the promise of a new day. It speaks of Nebraska’s natural beauty and landscapes while the sweet song of the Western Meadowlark, our state bird, drifts on the wind. Next, the changing seasons and thriving spirit of Nebraska’s people are portrayed with an energetic, youthful melody leading into a celebratory sesquicentennial fanfare. But as the seasons change, the listener is reminded that to thrive is also to persevere, and soon a storm begins to loom. First the rolling thunder, then the rain, and finally the full devastation of nature’s fury are realized by the combined forces of both ensembles. Yet, as hope springs eternal, we are reminded again of the strength of the pioneer and the roots that keep us anchored against the storm. The introduction begins with a “bubbling motive which leads into the tune stated in the lower voices with responses interspersed in the upper voices. After a short flourish the melodic material resurfaces like the beginning. A modulated interlude is tossed about leading into a another modulation with extraneous motives. And yet, another modulation where the melody is more staid until it leads into another modulation which acts as a coda concluding with a celebratory flourish.Key of Ab, F, Eb.

Living, Springs Of Living Water Church Anthem for SATB and Piano composed in 2014. Inspiration While attending Easter Church Service in 2014 I suddenly got the idea for this piece. Throughout the service I kept humming the melody to myself so I wouldn't forget it. By the time I got home I had the entire piece worked out. I quickly wrote it down and within a couple of weeks had the basic structure created. It's rare that this occurs for me but is a testament to the inspiration of God during Easter. The style of the music is somewhat impressionistic with a flowing nature that brings peace to the listener. The lyrics are all biblical; slightly modified. The Music Impressionistic in nature it starts with a gently flowing accompaniment followed by unison voices quietly speaking of the Living Water. After the initial A section the accompaniment changes into a more static but moving style as the lyrics speak to our belief and our needs. This is followed by a dramatic transition to the opening theme now embellished with a sort of question answer back and forth between the words Living and Water with the answer always resolving to the latter word. The piece quietly ends as it began. I will always remember the Easter of 2014 for Gods inspiration that created this piece.
