Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1261426). I first came upon Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem translated into Italian by Roberto Ascoli in a chamber work by Ottorino Respighi entitled Il Tramonto. I was so taken by this work for mezzo-soprano and string quartet that I did my own version of the Shelley-Ascoli text for soprano and piano, also called Il Tramonto. In the meanwhile, I found at an antique bookstore online a first edition copy of Poesie di P. B. Shelley (Milano Fratelli Treves, Editori, 1905) with more translations into Italian by Roberto Ascoli. The Italian versions are so much more beautiful than the English that I was compelled to create another song cycle of some of these poems in Italian for soprano and piano. I. Canto II. Versi III. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1271449). Program note:Looking for something to do after finishing a song cycle of poems by P.B. Shelley but translated into Italian by Roberto Ascoli, I stumbled upon Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Suite opus 23 for violin, viola, cello and piano left hand. The work was commissioned by Paul Wittgenstein, who famously commissioned Ravel to write his world renowned Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in 1930. I was inspired by the Suite opus 23 for its many dance related movements. 1. Präludium und Fuge 2. Walzer 3. Groteske 4. Lied 5. Rondo - Finale My work will follow suit and also be dance related. The title of my work will be Tanzsuite für E.W.K., with the same instrumentation albeit for piano two-hands. 1. Präeludium ... Moderato 2. Intermezzo I ... Adagio 3. Groteske ... Presto TRIO 4.
