The first movement opens with a nod to the Copland Americana sound, and then quickly dives into an adventurous theme that feels like a hero racing on horseback. Every instrument gets some solo features throughout the movement. The second movement, Lonesome paints the picture of a sorrow that can sink even through the most beautiful desert landscape, casting forlorn shadows in every direction. And finally, the third movement, Rowdy depicts a wild rodeo! This movement is in Rondo form, and with every return of the theme, we have the sensation of another rider bursting through the gate taking a ride on another bucking bronco.This piece is a major crowd pleaser, whether on a standard recital or a pops program. And any individual movement works perfectly for education shows. Melodic and harmonic material is simplified substantially in this version as well as in our easy piano edition. As in our easy edition, the right hand rhythms in this edition include a lot of the syncopation of the original song, but anyone who has loves Just Sing and has sung along with it will have no problem with that part. The left hand rhythms have been simplified a bit, but they feel complex agains the right hand rhythms. This arrangement is a half step higher than what is sung in Trolls World Tour.The main difference between this version and our easy piano version is the rhythmic difficulty in the left hand.

A Jewish lullaby, Raisins and Almonds is heard in the middle of the piece, and the two tunes are woven together at the end, giving the impression of a baby who just wants to play instead of going to sleep.This piece is a lot of fun to play, and audiences are thrilled by it.Our original arrangement of this is for quintet, but the quartet version here was later commissioned by the Fred Fox School of Music. It is scored for trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba. We also have it arranged for trio.Below is a recording of the quintet version. It’s a reduced version of our brass quintet arrangement of this piece. Our edition of this piece has been reduced to under 2 minutes, making it perfect for education shows when you want some Dixieland, but you don’t have all day. There’s enough written-in-improv lines (inspired by the Louis Armstrong recordings) to make it feel right, but without requiring actual improvisation. And, as always, there’s ample rest for the trumpets! This piece is so painless to play that it could be put at the end of any recital, no matter how tiring, and everyone can get through this last piece while taking the audience out with some Dixieland fun.Check out our full brass quintet edition of this arrangement too!Duration: just under 2 minutes
