This was originally written as two pieces (and can be purchased thusly at UNCJazzPress.com) but after realizing these two pieces belong 'with' one another, I did just that. I present to you the perfect closing piece to your concert, Prelude 2/Good-bye which can be performed in under 2 minutes and was the featured closing song in a video dedicated to Ciara (my loving pet dog) in the video show Good News Videos.Based simply on some beautiful arpeggiated chords and along with a simple beautiful lead you may find tears in the eyes of those listening when using this as a closing piece for your concert. Voiced as an SATB with a lead, there is not much more to say about this so I'll just add if you'd like to hear it, go over to my website http://BillORANGELyonsMusic.com and check it out.The only regret is that the song ends too soon! Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217539). This chart was arragned for the Sounds of Honda which was a community choir made of employees from the Honda HQ in Torrance, CA. Since written for a community choir it is an easier version than S-SB (III) and is more on par with S-SB (I). Having said that, you will still find some interesting chordal voicings that will eventually please.The larger the choir, the better this arrangement sounds. But even if done by a small chorus, you will be pleased. Once again it goes outside of the 'traditional' melodic and harmonic ideas but not by much. It's enough so you notice the differences but pleasing enough that you won't mind them. If at this point you are torn and can't quite decide if this is the National Anthem for you, then go to my website http://BillORANGELyonsMusic.com and listen to the track and after hearing it the only question might become do I buy The Star-Spangled Banner (I) (available only on UNCJazzPress.com), The Star-Spangled (III) or The Star-Spangled Banner (V).Enjoy the music. This may answer some of the questions you may have regarding the piece. Keep in mind these notes are merely suggestions. I found having talked to a music teacher or two, some appreciate the guidance these notes/suggestions provide. S-SB (III) sounds more difficult than it actually is. I wanted the piece to be interesting but not so far outside as to wake up Miles Davis. I think you will find the dissonance and syncopation interesting without upsetting. It is my favorite of the five arragements I have created. It does go to 3/4 for a couple of measures but that just wakes people up. If you have an excellent high school choir, you'll have no problem with this one. (If it's too difficult, may I suggest my arrangement, Star-Spangled Banner (I) available through UNCJazzPress.com).

Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217531). So, why would an American arrange O Canada? Well, for one, it's one of best anthems around. Truth be told, I used to direct a choir I founded (called the Orange Korale) and we were doing the Star-Spangled Banner for various MLB teams and knew eventually we'd need to sing the Canadian Anthem and finally had that chance for the Toronto team while playing here in the states and they loved it, and I think you will too.Wanting to keep it simple, I did not incorporate any French verse(s) so I hope you'll simply enjoy this simple but beautiful piece. Although it states written for SAATB, there is one place where the alto splits but only for a few notes. It is an easy arrangement but one that should be pleasing to all who hear it. This is a very easy chart to perform. Just tell them it was arranged by someone in one of the 'southern' provinces. I won't tell if you don't. :-).

Bill ORANGE Lyons #814114. Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217561). This R&B classic works so well you just might be amazed. It is voiced for solo-SATB. (If you have an alto ((or soprano)) with a deep rich tone, you've found your lead vocalist). This arrangement combines the best of Carole King's words with the soul of Aretha. Since this is more of an R&B groove you won't hear the dissonance and syncopation used for many of the jazz choral tunes you'll find here, but it is not short on feeling (especially with a soulful lead). It is an easy piece to perform and should be well received (especially by the Baby Boomers). Just don't move it too fast.

Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217575). Contrary to what it states this is not an arrangement of the Barry Manilow version. This choral piece comes with an original intro written by yours truly. It opens with a light lilting feel and slides into a legato before beginning the song. A couple of the voicings may fit into a jazz idium but for the most part this is what I would call a traditional concert choir/pop/Christmas arrangement, voiced SATB.This is a relatively easy piece and the last two measures will definitely have you thinking the Carpenters. Merry Christmas and enjoy this one!
