Could I Have This Dance is a song recorded by the Canadian country music artist Anne Murray. It was used in the 1980 film Urban Cowboy and appeared on both the Urban Cowboy soundtrack album for that film, as well as on the Anne Murray's Greatest Hits compilation album, issued in late 1980. Later on, it also appeared on Murray's 2007 album Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends, performed as a duet with Amy Grant.As a single, it was released in August 1980 and became Murray's fifth number one country hit as a solo artist. These works may be performed with only two Saxes (Alto Sax I and Alto Sax II) and a standard backup with Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. In addition, any combo may be augmented by adding any or all of the parts included for Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax. This flexible or variable instrumentation of the dances makes them unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. What’s more, each dance has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the group’s enjoyment but also everyone’s listening pleasure. These works have been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events along the East Coast with great success. Published by String Play for All (A0.859957).  The five spirituals and dances are arrangements for multi-level violin ensemble of five movements from Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s 24 Negro Melodies for solo piano. The five movements included are Wade in the Water, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Deep River, My Lord Delivered Daniel, and Bamboula. This instrumental setting preserves the energy and warmth of the original. Expose your students to this important style of American Music. Each movement contains a brief description as well as illustration. The violin parts include Advanced Violin, Violin I, Violin II, Violin Book 1, and Twinkle Violin. Since note reading and ensemble playing pose additional challenges, I have made the Twinkle Violin part quite basic, with an emphasis on open strings and basic rhythmic patterns. The Violin Book 1 part is more challenging, designed for players who have finished or about to finish Suzuki Violin School, Book 1. The Advanced Violin part occasionally extends to fifth position, while the Violin I part remains mainly in first Position, with only and occasional use of third position. Violin II remains in first position. The Advanced Violin part is optional. It may be omitted, replace the Violin I part, or both Advanced Violin and Violin I parts may be used, depending on the needs and level of your group. 6 of each part have been included. The entire suite totals 12 ½ minutes.

Published by Patrick Prejean (A0.1317853). These dances where written at the request of the executive director of CityMusic Cleveland. They are based and inspired by North and Sub-Saharan African Dances in addition to a reimagining of fairy tales. There are 8 movements making this the biggest project I've ever composed. This quintet may also be performed as a String Orchestra ensemble. I - There is a story about a man named Alexander Dynis (Deniz) who is believed to have ended up in Ruthenia (modern day Ukraine) as a PoW when the Ottomans invaded the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Not much is known about his early life but we do know is that eventually afterwards he was granted the position of Starosta (town mayor/landlord) of Kozieglowy (Poland) by the Bishop of Krakow. He is the only Black starosta that we know of to this day. His story is interesting and is the basis of this movement and was inspired by the soundtrack of a game called Hellish Quart. II - This movement is a dance of ritual which emphasizes the different pitch intonations of the human voices hence the dissonant harmonies. Imagine walking through the savannah and hearing these voices but you are unsure of their intentions. This dance is heavy and percussive. III - This movement is of a young woman who is kidnapped by the Vikings and dreams of escaping captivity. IV - There are 3 distinct motives for this movement which combine to create a battle - like scene, those being the 6 quarter note triplets, the rhythmic motive, and the driving 16th notes.  V - I wanted to create the sounding of the natural horns of the Ancient and Classical Eras and to combine them with a retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood. Her journey begins upon hearing these horns and prompted to ride out to begin her quest.VI/VII/VIII - These movements where edited from my Death Waltzes for the Living. There are hidden titles for number 6 and 7: Loss of Mind and Hospital. These waltzes are a reimagining of Cinderella's life but instead of her story playing out as we know it, she suffers a psychotic break and is transported into our world and rushed to the hospital. The final movement concludes the piece with a Dance of Death. I have had many close encounters with permanent oblivion and the result of this is what I call Hitchcock Horror harmonic language. These encounters supplimented with the dreams of the unconscious realm create an uneasy dance that ends almost as abruptly as they begin.

Published by Jeff Tyzik/Macaroni Music (A0.1082229). Three Latin Dances was composed for the Eastman Wind Ensemble at the request of Mark Scatterday in September of 2018. In the past twenty years, Mark has been very instrumental in encouraging me to compose wind music. I am grateful for the many wind ensemble projects and recordings we have collaborated on including IMAGES, our CD that was released in October 2018. I've always been attracted to the music of great Latin composers including de Falla, Gimenez, Chapi, Piazzolla, Ginastera, Lacuona and many others. In this short suite, I used three different popular Latin dance forms. The first dance section is based on the Danzón, a Cuban dance that is slow, formal and elegant. The Danzón transitions into a Cha Cha, another Cuban dance that is a medium tempo rhythmic dance that I first experienced during my student days at Eastman when I played in local Latin bands. After a brief recap of the Danzón another transition evolves into a Malambo, an Argentine dance that is exciting, up tempo and whose roots can be traced back to the 1600s. As one might imagine, the percussion section is very busy and featured throughout from the elegant and lyrical introduction to the exciting finish. As an alumni of the EWE under Donald Hunsberger, it is an honor to have this preeminent Eastman ensemble premiere this new suite with Mark Scatterday conducting at Severance Hall in Cleveland on May 7, 2019.

A fantastic offer price for the full score and all parts! ... Looking for something to add a sense of oriental exoticism to your amateur orchestral/choral concert? This may be what you're looking for! This charming little suite of six dances lasts about 15½ minutes. It consists of a Pavane, Bourée, Sarabande, Allemande, Basse Danse and Galliard, which vary widely in character. As a whole the suite provides some interesting challenges for both performers and listeners. Apart from conventional strings, flute and harp (which can be either pedal or lever) you will need:- One or maybe two Arabian ouds. The parts are playable also on a fretless acoustic guitar. (Needs to be fretless because of the quarter-tones in some of the Arabic modes used.)- A cimbalom (the part can be played on a piano also, with slight modification). You might get away with using a hammered dulcimer but you'd need to make a number of compromises.- A doumbek and a djembe. These beautiful drums are a must for Middle-Eastern or African music. They're fairly easy to find, though finding somebody who can play them properly may take a bit more doing!- Finger cymbals and a gong. These are regular western instruments.- A wind-chime. Anything that produces a nice shimmering spangle of sound will probably do!- A group of singers (SATB). Nothing particularly challenging but see below.The primary oud part, the strings and the singers need to have sufficiently good intonation to pitch quarter tones. These are the exception rather than the rule, but nevertheless play an important part in the character of the music. Apart from this, the music is relatively straightforward and probably playable by any reasonably competent amateur or high school orchestra.In the spring of 2020 I wrote a set of short music tracks for a charity of which I'm a trustee. In order to protect my intellectual property rights in the music, I decided to bring it together into an attractive if not intellectually challenging little suite, hence An Omani Dance Suite. Originally the dances were all in Arabic quarter-tone temperament, but obviously quarter-tones cannot be played easily (if at all) on the flute, harp and cimbalom. So I have made some adjustments but retained the Arabic temperament wherever reasonably possible. I had thought initially of using a santur instead of a cimbalom, but the santur lacks the range and the dynamic capability to be used with a string chamber orchestra. The cimbalom doesn't need to be a concert grand model; in fact it doesn't even need to have dampers.The Omani was something of an afterthought: a musician friend of mine had worked in Oman and commented on how authentically Omani the Basse Danse sounded. When I first saw her dance and tumble at such a young age, I was so moved that I wrote this piece to celebrate her ability to amaze everyone with her dancing and tumbling. LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) was originally written and arranged for a small ensemble, band, stage band or combo with flexible instrumentation so that it may be performed with only two Saxophones (Alto Sax I and Alto Sax II) and a standard backup with Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. In addition, any combo may be augmented by adding any or all of the parts included for Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax. This flexible or variable instrumentation of LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) makes it unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. What’s more, LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the group’s enjoyment but also everyone’s listening pleasure. This piece is composed in the same style of the other dances in the set - all of which have been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events along the East Coast with great success. It is published separately and in a set entitled PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES PART 1 from the sets PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES Part I and Part II. Each Part contains 3 Dances. I have adapted the audio here for synthesizer so that it may be previewed. It is one of 6 works named and dedicated to each of my 6 Grandchildren: Lilly, Mary, Lydia, Emma, Joey and Wilson. This flexible or variable instrumentation of MY SWEET LYDIA makes it unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. What’s more, MY SWEET LYDIA has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the group’s enjoyment but also everyone’s listening pleasure. This piece has been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events all along the East Coast with great success. It is published separately and in a set entitled PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES PART 1 from the sets PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES Part I and Part II. Each Part contains 3 Dances. This is an arrangement of the famous Waltz from Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty Ballet". I have taken it from the original orchestral score using the original key. At 3 minutes and 28 seconds, it is a somewhat abbreviated version. I have left out some of the repetitions in the original ballet. Without dancers to watch, the piece can be a little tedious. This piece would be ideal in any situation where a little light music is required, possibly even Christmas or a wedding.

Or who braught peace to the tension between Natives and English? Squanto is credited for doing both of these things. One of the first recoreded Native Americans, Squanto lived from 1585 to 1622. He was part of the Patuxet tribe, and taught settlers how to satisfy basic needs. And as far as the eye can see, there is no band music dedicated for him. So I have made a piece showing what may have happened when the settlers came. While not completly accurate, It is a great representation (and honor to Squanto) for your next concert!. The piece begins on a nice warm day, in a playful, dancelike movement, this quickly turns to anger as they see a bird that is not able to be hunted. This confusion leads to the mysteriousness that was most likely happening upon the natives. They start to pray to their gods. All of a sudden, the ship lands and a war breaks out! But Squanto wants to embrace this new culture they have brought, which slowly calms the fighting down. Eventually, the English Culture (represented by Hot Cross Buns) is embraced in the polytonal ways (disagreement). The final part is a chorale representing peace.Errata:Â 107: Singing is stopped.
