The American epic war movie, The Longest Day, was released in 1962 and filmed in black and white, It is based on Cornelius Ryan's 1959 non-fiction book of the same name. It is about the D-Day landings at Normandy on June 6, 1944. The picture opens with a view of the beach and the sounds of the waves washing ashore. There is a lone helmet lying upside down on the beach, and over the sounds of the sea, we hear the motif from Beethoven's 5th Symphony, the dot-dot-dash of morse code signaling V, for victory. Throughout the film we hear variations on the theme of the march which culminates in the playing of the full march as the credits roll. Here scored for concert band is the march from The Longest Day, as written by Paul Anka.

This quick and easy national anthem arrangement is essential for traveling musicians, bands, instrumental groups and both amateur and professional ensembles. You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band,clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything! This is the full version of the anthem (41 measures) which is used on formal, official occasions. Shorter versions are sometimes heard.This arrangement is in five independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. For the most satisfying sound you’ll need to get a good balance between each part possibly with an emphasis on the melodic line. If you have a non-standard ensemble, you can pick 'n' mix as required. You Are My Sunshine is an Old-Time Music country song from 1939 that became an Evergreen.The authorship of the song is disputed; Paul Rice probably wrote it in 1937. Jimmie Davis acquired the rights to the song, so he is still listed as the lyricist and Charles Mitchell as the composer.The success of the song took some time to come; Ray Charles achieved its best placement in 1962 with seventh place in the US pop charts. Other prominent performers are Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Mitch Ryder, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Also in the TV series Star Trek Voyager and in films such as O Brother, Where Art Thou? or Annabelle 2 the song can be heard.The song was adapted for the Tin Whistle / Penny Whistle in D and provided with fingering images. It reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in March 1962. The song features a prominent riff from well-known harmonica player Delbert McClinton; while touring the UK in 1962 with the Beatles, McClinton gave John Lennon some harmonica tips; Lennon put the lessons to use right away on Love Me Do and later Please Please Me. Lennon included Hey! Baby in his jukebox and a version of the song was recorded by Ringo Starr in 1976. Hey! Baby! was used in the 1987 hit film 'Dirty Dancing' in the scene in which Johnny and Baby dance on top of a log; a dance remix in early 2000 by Austrian artist DJ Ötzi brought it back to prominence again, reaching number 1 in the UK, Irish and Australian charts. This arrangement for concert band has a harmonica part to tie-in with the original, but is beefed up with elements used from a marching band chart by Tom Wallace.

It was broadcast on the BBC Light Programme 1948-67, then BBC Radio 2 (sometimes simulcast on BBC Radio 1) 1967-70, and BBC Radio 4 1970-86. The programme migrated to TV, where it ran from 1962-75, and was called Television Top of the Form. Here  scored for Concert Band with a full score and parts included.
