Tango d?Elinora is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello.

This duet is written in the style of early twentieth century Tango music. Tango first appeared as in the late nineteenth century in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but it wasn?t long before the dance craze spread to North America and Europe. Performers like Carlos Gardel were the international superstars of their day. More recently the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and others has pushed the boundaries and ensured that Tango is still a vibrant art form today.

If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated with the first beat in the bar always strong; the melody should always flow and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Old and still popular Hebridean folk song. The music is available in the keys of C minor, D minor (the original key) and E minor.

The original publication (in D Minor) by Boosey & Co, on which these transcriptions are based, is copyrighted by Marjory Kennedy-Fraser in 1909, so it is now in the public domain.

Arranged in 2017 by Boo de Bruin. 16 pages (because it's written on four staves for ease of reading) for Sweet Adelines (ladies' barbershop) quartet or SSAA choir. (Tenor, lead, baritone, bass are roughly equivalent to SSAA).

This arrangement was written for a chorus of young women, and as such the ranges are relatively narrow.

Vocal ranges are:
Tenor: F#4 - F#5 (F# above middle C to F# above high C)
Lead: A#3 - D#5 (A# below middle C to D# above high C)
Baritone: A#3 - B4 (A# below middle C to B above middle C)
Bass: F#3 - D#4 (F# below middle C to D# above middle C)
