Often shortened to ?Mazel Tov?, it is thought that the song was written by Sigmund ?Zelig? Mogulesko. Born in Romania, he was a larger than life character who dominated Yiddish theatre on both sides of the Atlantic in the late nineteenth century. Mogulesko was a childhood prodigy, equally adept as a composer, playwright, singer, comedian, actor and impresario.
