New apoyando/picado exercises that I hope it will be interesting to play. Sincerely speaking, I don't like exercises because they are mostly for technique and there is no music. I wanted to create exercises that would be interesting for me, the musical exercises. I am satisfied with this work - now I have more good exercises for myself and I share it with you. Each exercise is made like a cycle. You can practice some important technique elements - left hand transitions that are common in flamenco guitar music, with p/h/glissando. These patterns are also useful as guitar licks for flamenco fusion improvisation. Enjoy!

The Italian flute virtuoso Giuseppe Gariboldi (1833-1905) wrote numerous studies for the flute which are among today's standard teaching literature. Starting with easy melodic tonal studies, the 'First Exercises' gradually expand their range of tones, thus increasing the technical demands. Melodic and harmonic progression, dynamics, articulation and dexterity are developed in short, .exercises arranged in varying ways, starting from the basics.
The song-like, easily comprehensible melody in connection with elementary motivic work (repetitions of motifs, sequences and variations) trains the inner tonal image which is imperative for the beginner in particular. When a sense of melodic progression and phrasing is developed on this basis, the increasing technical elements added later are incorporated both unobtrusively and organically. This new volume in the well-known Schott series 'Essential Exercises' is complemented by teaching tips and an index of the technical and musical topics.

The studies by Friedrich August Kummer are perfect for music lessons, particularly because of their accompaniment of a second violoncello. They are characterized by a very systematic arrangement, cleverly introduce the circle of fifths and offer exercises at all levels of difficulty.

The studies originally come from the appendix to Kummer's Celloschule fur den ersten Unterricht Op. 60. In this new edition, they are for the first time published completely in two volumes as 92 progressive studies. The present edition is based on the first edition published in 1839 (Verlag Friedrich Hofmeister, Leipzig) and has essentially adopted the original fingerings and bowing indications. For better readability, the number of fingerings has been slightly reduced.

Volume 1 (ED 22371) is intended for beginner and intermediate lessons. Volume 2 (ED 22372) focusses on the musical performance of the advanced pupil.

As a consequence, Schott has included the well-known cycle 100 leichte Ubungsstucke op. 139 in its study series 'Essential Exercises', with fingerings and didactic information by Wilhelm Ohmen.
