Creative Meditation is inspired by the freedom of nature and the tranquility of being outdoors. This unaccompanied flute solo is all about freedom, including freedom meter, key and tempo. The work also utilizes many contemporary techniques, such as wind tones to recreate the effect of a breeze softly blowing across a flute embouchure hole. The piece develops in such a way to mirror the way our own mind develops and grows upon ideas, especially in moments of meditation. **The sample recording for this piece was performed by Barry Griffiths.---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. As a composer, his music draws inspiration from nature, mathematics and poetry. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Association’s Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. Lenhart has also participated in numerous ensembles across Michigan, including the MYAF All-State Choir, Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club and the SMTD University Choir. He thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other composers, performers, poets and visual artists. Some of his recent projects include collaborations with individuals from the University of Michigan Chamber Music, History, and Poetry departments.

All piece's main theme is generally based on Oriental pentatonic tone, And for 2nd movement, there is especially natural harmonics is used for special tone effect, to express oriental flute sound. and for 3rd movement, adapted Korean Traditional rhythm, for example, such as Kutkuri Jajinmori. 4th movement is major key, but it has a deep sorrow. For Finale, Rondo form is used, and Korean Traditional Children's song is adapted as main Theme. Attached Music file is recorded with Violin and Piano, it’s just for a referrence. Kotimaani Ompi Suomi (My Homeland is Finland) for Brass Quintet Arranged by Jari VillanuevaScore 2 Trumpets in Bb Horn in F Trombone Tuba Substitute parts for Eb Horn and Baritone T.C .provided Kotimaani Ompi Suomi (My Homeland is Finland) is a song of much meaning, especially to those Finns who left Finland to settle in the United States. It is a haunting melody that evokes longing for the home so far away. The composer was a Finnish immigrant, Jooseppi Riipa, who was born in Kokkola, Finland in 1868. In 1895 he moved with his wife and small son to Hancock, Michigan where he taught music. He was unfortunately killed in 1896 during a thunderstorm and is buried in Astoria, Oregon. There is no doubt he left a lasting legacy with this beautiful piece of music. A retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements are played by brass quintets all over the country including many military groups.
