Composed in October 2019, this book includes 12 ambient piano solos in quiet and reflective styles with each piece being in a different major key. It is so easy to always play in the keys that are easiest while avoiding the harder ones, so this set is somewhat of an set of etudes to encourage the piano student learn and be comfortable with every key. Ligeti's piano etudes are some of the most splendid works ever composed for this instrument. Every ambitious player is eventually going to examine these milestones of contemporary music literature. The musical community had to wait for new piano works from the pen of Ligeti for quite a long time. now a new volume has been published: Etudes pour piano, troisieme livre.

In the years 1997 till 2001 the magician of sound wrote new etudes which pose challenges to the pianist that are revealed only at second glance.

Studies play an important role in musical instrument training. Gerhard Mantel's new edition 'Etuden uben' [Practising studies] (3 volumes) complements his previous successful book 'Cello uben' (ED 8714). The basics of cello technique are worked on in selected studies, with the focus being not only on the ability to learn a technically and musically oriented text within a reasonable time but also on the solution of certain problems typical of the cello. Vol. 1 covers aspects ranging from the orientation on the fingerboard via changes of position, vibrato and trills to changes of strings and double stops. Vol. 2 deals with fingerings, whole-bow stroke, dynamics, articulation and types of bowing, among others. The final volume contains studies on legato, arpeggios, chords, martellato, staccato, spiccato and changes of rhythm. The accompanying volume of commentaries (for all three volumes) describes in detail the methodological practising processes.

From the composer: "What are Morphs? Morphs are tiny compositions. I wrote them as springboards for improvisation. Most Morphs are under four measures; a few are longer. I wrote these little pieces on piano, but any instrumentalist or vocalist can adapt them. They can also be played in groups. Morphs can be played as written -- with no improvisation -- to practice rhythmic dexterity and keeping a steady pulse. However, you'll have the most fun with these pieces if you have some knowledge of improvisation, scales, modes and chord symbols, or if you have an experienced improviser to work with. As you can see, Morphs are not just in major and minor scales; they are also in some of the various modes and occasionally a pentatonic scale. The time signatures also vary. Try playing the Morphs as written for a few cycles, then branch out and start improvising. There are no rules. In fact, you can change meter or key as desired. Written May 16, 2021, this is an original clarinet and piano composition in a broken chord etude in the key of D minor. There is a separate clarinet part in the score and the piano part as seen can serve as an independent solo. The accompaniment as heard can be found under "Classical Etude in D Minor Piano Track."

The 6 virtuoso jazz pieces in this booklet, each dealwith a fundamentally important element of jazz piano playing. That is why thepieces are called Jazz - Etudes. However, they serve not only as teachingmaterial, but are composed primarily for concert practice.

Performing the booklet does not require you to have anyin-depth experience in jazz music. All pieces are to be played "aswritten" and without any special jazz playing techniques, (such as "swing- triplets" etc.).

Corona Etude is a hopeful piece written during coronavirus lockdown. It uses rapid 2, 3 and 4-string crossings to create the sensation of multiple voices. The use of many open strings helps to create a full sound while being relatively easy to play. After players familiarize themselves with the notated version, they are encouraged to create their own realization using the sketch on the front cover. It has a folk-like feeling, while using a standard classical technique. It could be way to introduce students to the string crossings in solo Bach sonatas and partitas, and other standard literature. .

Quarantine Etudes for Violin by Dr. Piotr Szewczyk
Composed in May 2020 during the global pandemic.

All major etude books for violin, including those by Mazas, Kreutzer, Dont and
others, are firmly rooted in romantic harmonic language; minor and major triads,
arpeggios, diminished and augmented chords, dominant 7th etc.

A 21st Century violinist will encounter a much more varied musical language.
Those standard etudes don?t prepare students for octatonic scales, various
modes, whole tone scales, rapid chromatic twists and turns, atonality, extended
jazz harmonies etc. that are a big part of contemporary music.

I created these bite-sized etudes to help students experience different musical
languages and go against the ingrained familiar patterns their fingers are used to.
I hope they will be fun and adventurous challenge for violin students of all ages.
