Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Romantic Period, Repertoire, Funeral, Graduation, Recital. 8 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata no 8 in C minor, op 13 commonly known as Pathétique (although commonly thought to be one of the few works to be named by the composer himself, it was actually named by the publisher, to Beethoven's liking) was published in 1799, though written the year before, when the composer was 27 years old. Beethoven dedicated the work to his friend Prince Karl von Lichnowsky. At the time of its publication, Beethoven was pleased with the title Pathétique for his op 13 piano sonata, although in later life, he came to regret it, claiming that all of his works were pathetic.

The Pathétique Sonata is perhaps the earliest of Beethoven's compositions to achieve widespread and enduring popularity. It is widely represented on the concert programs and recordings of professional pianists. As one of the more famous Beethoven pieces, it has been incorporated into several works of popular culture.

The rondo theme of the second movement is one of the most beautiful and famous tunes in the repertoire. This theme is not merely pretty; it is, after the vicious first movement conclusion, a heroic if melancholy affirmation that life goes on, that beneath sorrow and pain, there is still grace and nobility.

This Adagio movement opens with the famous cantabile ("in a singing style") melody. This theme is played three times, interspersed with two modulating episodes: the first going from F minor to E flat major, the second from A flat minor to E major. With the final return of the main theme, the accompaniment becomes richer and takes on the triplet rhythm of the second episode. The brief coda's stylistic diversity is arresting: four bars of Romantic transcendence followed by a strikingly conventional 18th-century close.

Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742388). Ede Poldini (13 June 1869 – 28 June 1957) was a Hungarian composer of the late romantic / early modern period. Famous in Hungary for writing many operas, he became internationally famous when Fritz Kreisler transcribed his piano piece La poupée valsante for violin.Poldini studied with István Tomka in Budapest and with Eusebius Mandyczewski in Vienna. In 1908 he settled in Switzerland, writing two of his more famous operas: The Vagabond and the Princess (1903) and Wedding in Carnival Time(1924). These were both produced in London, the latter under the title Love Adrift. Himfy was produced in 1938 in Budapest.Poldini is best known for his miniature piano pieces, such as La poupée valsante, given wider audience in Fritz Kreisler's transcription, Arlequinades, Morceaux pittoresques, Episodes à la cour, Images, and Moments musicaux. Marionettes were seven piano pieces that he later orchestrated. His one-act opera Der Vagabund und die Prinzessin was given 14 times in Dresden in 1916/17 under Fritz Reiner with a cast including Ludwig Ermold, Minnie Nast, Georg Zottmayr and Richard Tauber. He died in Vevey, Switzerland in 1957, aged 88. Piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q43790 Five Early Piano Pieces. Composed by Peter Eotvos. This edition: single sheet. Downloadable, Separate edition. Duration 26 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q43790. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q43790). Peter Eötvös completed his early neo-classical Hungarian piano pieces at the age of 17. Now published in one volume, they were created when he studied composition at the Budapest Music Academy between 1959 and 1961, shortly before taking up a scholarship to study conducting in Cologne. A highlight is the witty three-movement Hommage à Haydn in which he humorously satirizes the famous Sonata in D major, nightmare of many a piano student, among others.

Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com This is the famous wedding march from Op. 61 composed in 1842 and commonly performed as a recessional march at the end of a wedding. The piece was originally composed for orchestra, then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself. Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1273684 Composed by Nicolo Paganini. Arranged by Martin Rummel. 19th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score and part. 9 pages. Paladino Editions #865829. Published by Paladino Editions (A0.1273684). Niccolò Paganini wrote his Cantabile, Op. 17, in 1824, at the height of his career. It could almost be regarded to be an antipode to his image of the bewitched violinist – in 1820, he had published the famous Capricci Op. 1 with Ricordi. The fact that Paganini himself never played his most famous virtuoso pieces in concert has long been forgotten. All his other compositions are proof of his legendary art of violin playing which, according to a number of different legends, had its origin in a pact with the devil.
