Published by Red Frog Music (A0.1023844). The first three pieces were written for Piano in Januari 1981, being part of some improvisation lessons from my piano teacher some years before. I was a little bored (trying) to play the teacher's music choice, so when he added the improvisation to the lesson, I was rather pleased, because I was was at familiar grounds, making new music. During the Christmas holiday in 1980/81 I started writing down some of that material, which I presented to that piano teacher. In 1999 the short pieces were completely renovated and in 2004 this arrangement was written on request of some friendly amateur players and a fourth part was added.. Score and parts are in the same file.

Arranged standard wind quintet.Lyric Pieces (Norwegian: Lyriske stykker) is a collection of 66 short pieces for solo piano written by Edvard Grieg. They were published in 10 volumes, from 1867 (Op. 12) to 1901 (Op. 71).The collection includes several of his best known pieces, such as Wedding Day at Troldhaugen (Bryllupsdag på Troldhaugen), To Spring (Til våren), March of the Trolls (Trolltog), and Butterfly (Sommerfugl).This is an arrangement of Lyric Pieces Op.54 No.4 NotturnoK/A Nocturne in English. Tempo marking is Andante: dotted crotchet  at 44 and piece is in C majorMy arrangement is NOT tutti throughout.The melody is mainly taken by the oboeA beutiful tune for your quintet.Grieg later arranged four of the pieces from Op.54 as his Lyric Suite for orchestra.Grieg slightly altered the order of the numbers in the orchestral suite by swapping No. 4 Notturno with No. 3 March of the Dwarfs. The title of the piece may be translated to English as either veils or sails; both meanings can be connected to the musical structure. Except for some mild, localized chromaticism and a short pentatonic passage, the entire piece uses the whole tone scale. I have taken some liberties with the arpeggios in the 2nd half of the piece and also ignored the grace notes. For something different, try this piece. (Treat the tempo as 4/8 rather than 2/4 i.e. count it in 4. Well worth the challenge! VI. Des pas sur la neige (Footprints in the snow): very atmospheric wintry feel! It is a set of four concerti for Violin, each of the four representing one of the four seasons. A performance of the entire original set would take at least 40 minutes. This version is a collection of the main themes presented as a short suite and takes approximately 5 minutes to perform. Alternatively, each of the movements may be performed as a separate piece. The aim of this arrangement was to give Early Intermediate Level Woodwind and/or Brass players an opportunity to perform what is undoubtedly one of the most well-known pieces of Baroque string repertoire. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for many different combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Trio/ Ensemble, Saxophone Trio/Ensemble, Brass Trio/Ensemble and even Concert Band. The Solo at the start of the 4th Movement (Winter) is an opportunity to feature a Part 1 player who is more advanced. The inclusion of this short section is entirely optional. Part 4 is optional and can be used to include a Tuba and/or less competent players of Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and F Horn. The inclusion of a Tuba is preferable in the case of a large brass ensemble. The inclusion of a Bass Clarinet (Part 3 or 4) is preferable in a large clarinet ensemble.
