2 or 3 octaves handbells - Level 1 & 2 - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB1032 Four songs to inspire the journey from singing to ringing. Composed by Karen Thompson. Arranged by Karen Thompson. General. With Bells or chimes, voices. Score. 12 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB1032. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB1032). UPC: 749193026625.From Singing to Ringing is a valuable resource for teaching and reinforcing some basic, yet essential, music skills needed to ring handbells. Keeping a steady beat and visually tracking music from beat to beat (and measure to measure) are important skills that handbell ringers must accomplish to be successful. The conventional approach to aid in learning these two skills in a handbell setting is counting aloud by director and/or ringers. From Singing to Ringing serves the same purpose as counting aloud, but in a more enjoyable and engaging way. Additionally, rhythms are easier to perform and internalize when sung. If they can sing it, they can ring it!

Handbells 2-3 octave handbell choir with optional 2-3 octave handchimes - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: H1.2690DP Composed by Robert Lowry. Arranged by Cathy Moklebust. General Worship, Sacred. Handbell score. 8 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #2690DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.2690DP). By Robert Lowry.Beloved hymn by Robert Lowry In this arrangement of Robert Lowry's beloved hymn, composer Cathy Moklebust has paid particular attention to the word singing through rhythmic and chordal punctuation, and through use of the Singing Bell technique. Both versions of the tune are used; Robert Lowry's original lyric, flowing version in A 3/4 meter, which uses plenty of LV and the optional use of handchimes, and the more contemporary version which is written in a rhythmic, energetic 4/4 meter, employing the use of malleted bells, and featuring the hymn tune played in a round. Editions for 2-3 octaves and 3-5 octaves are available, and are compatible for massed ringing.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1205290 By 2nd Chapter Of Acts. By Anne Herring. Arranged by Tracey Phillips. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Tracey L Phillips #803462. Published by Tracey L Phillips (A0.1205290). Easter Medley for advanced piano. Easter Hymn Llanfair, Easter Song, Joy To The World, He Lives. Key of C, 2 min 45 seconds. Creative arrangement that includes part of a Christmas tune in an Easter arrangement. In the beginning, chimes ring out Christ the Lord is Risen Today! Hear the Bells Ringing, they're singing that Christ is risen from the dead! The time signature changes often, but rarely is slow. This arrangement is peppy, but also haunting and soft in the minor parts that build dynamically and chordally to He Is Risen! I end with a triumphant portion of He Lives, ending with the Easter Song again. This is a powerful, dramatic, fun, interesting arrangement for advanced piano soloists that is just right for Easter Sunday offertory, special solo, prelude, or postlude. Time signatures used are 4/4, 3/4 in 3, 3/4 in 1, and 2/4, with several tempo changes, arpeggions, two octave gliss into Joy To The World. If you want to celebrate on Easter Sunday, take a look at this piece. I included an mp3, and a video of me playing for you to hear what it sounds like. Thank you for considering this piece.

This that I hear, is it the night's north wind yelping or the hanged man who pushes out a sigh on the sinister-looking fork?Would it be some cricket singing crouched in the moss and barren ivy that the woodland, pitying, uses for shoes?Would it be some fly on the hunt sounding its horn to ears that cannot hear the fanfare of hallali?Would it be some beetle in irregular flight picking a bloody hair from his bald skull?Or would it even be some spider embroidering half a yard of muslin to make a tie for this strangled neck?It is the bell ringing against the walls of a town, below the horizon, and the carcass of a hanged man reddened by the setting sun.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.873021 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Contemporary. 8 pages. Sally Whitwell #3867171. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873021). Composer’s Note - Some World Far From OursA principle source of inspiration for composers is surely a performer of great talent and skill. Percy Bysshe Shelley proves that this is true not only for composers but for poets as well. His dear friend Jane Williams -- the never proven conjecture is that she was actually his lover -- could sing like a bird and also play flute, harp and guitar. In S ome World Far From Ours, I so enjoyed bringing some musical life to a text that praises a musician from a poet who understands how a singing voice can transport a listener in a was that speech cannot.-- Sally Whitwell

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1496732 Composed by PERSONENT HODIE from the Piae Cantones, 1583. Arranged by Ken Litton. 20th Century,Advent,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. 19 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #1073248. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1496732). Jazz Hodie (On this Day Earth Shall Ring)PERSONENT HODIE arr. Ken Litton (ASCAP) Those who have the good fortunate to hear Gustav Holst’s arrangement of PERSONENT HODIE as a choral processional with its engaging melody, measured gait and echoed text have never forgotten the magical moment—and were never really ready for it to end. Hailing from the The Oxford Book of Carols this German plainsong melody—from the Piae Cantones, 1583—has made its way into strong choral and worship traditions at Advent/Christmas.Of all the current texts and arrangements available, this version honors Holst’s unison accompanied setting in an unexpected subtle jazz styling, with the hope of bringing additional range to its established place in advent literature (both in terms of style and in appeal to a variety of age groups). And, On This Day Earth Shall Ring, translated by Jane M. Joseph (text in the public domain) gives it just the traditional touch needed for Jazz Hodie (On this Day). This SATB setting of the tune offers accompaniment designed for piano or organ, optional acoustic/string bass and an optional part for a single player involving three of the percussionist section best friends in the : the suspended cymbal, mallets (vibraphone, marimba or bells or bell lyre), and a small triangle. It should be noted that an electronic piano/synthesizer voice could substitute well for the mallets and the use of handbells is also viable. Perfect for Lessons & Carols presentations! The unison singing and bell-tone echoes of the first stanza/refrain soon give way to smooth, contrasting jazz harmony. The choral ranges are very much within the reach of the average choir and the voicings vary from unison to three and four parts, followed by a return to the character of the opening. The piece builds toward a close with a choral ascent in the final bars and a bass line reminiscent of the first verse, but with an extra jazz twist. But, it can easily be restarted for processional use by simply dropping back into the C minor introduction’s bass line. Note: the String Bass/Electric Bass part is included! Also available in a Hymn Sheet Version that includes everything needed for a small ensembe and/or the worshiping congregation. All this from the places you go for the best in downloadable resources:Sheet Music Direct Sheet Music Plus As well as via Hal Leonard InStore™ retailers. Also…be sure to check out other titles from East of the Altar/Artist of Note, Inc.Thanks, as always to the good folks at ArrangeMe.com, a division of Hal Leonard.

Artist of Note, Inc. #1030191. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1450566). Shall We Gather at the RiverRobert Lowry, 1864Easy intermediate PIANOFrom the author/composer of How Can I Keep from Singing, Low in The Grave He Lay/Christ Arose, All the Way My Savior Leads Me, We’re Marching to Zion and I Need Thee Every Hour comes this classic hymn of longing for heaven, worship and fellowship by Robert Lowry, 1864.On a ministry visit to a grieving family he was asked, “Pastor, we have parted at the river of death. Will we meet again by the river of life?” Lowry assured her from Revelation 22:1 they they would. Then, later that afternoon he wrote both the words and the music of Shall We Gather at the River. The arrangement may serve as well as an early goal for a progressing piano student as for an intermediate to advanced player this coming Sunday. The intro announces the tune and calls the first line of the chorus to mind. After setting the meditative mood the first stanza is presented in right hand melody with left hand accompaniment that only occasionallyis rhythmically active beyond beat three. Then, the easily playable key change takes the vision to the bank of the “shining river” by way of a brief, flowing left hand figuration. A few easily-managed major seven chords and an expressive dotted eighth note or two later the “melody of peace” concludes with echoes of the intro, bringing both heart and hands to rest. All this from the places you go for the best in downloadable resources:Sheet Music Directsheetmusicdirect.comSheet Music Plussheetmusicplus.comAs well as via Hal Leonard InStore™ retailers. Also…be sure to check out other titles from East of the Altar/Artist of Note, Inc.Thanks, as always to the good folks at ArrangeMe.com, a division of Hal Leonard!

Amen. - St. Francis of Assisi's Prayer before the Crucifix NOTES from the composer: One year ago, I had the privilege of participating in the Leadership Pilgrimage to Assisi and Rome (2011) sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Franciscan Healthcare, and Viterbo University. I carried with me, not only the responsibility of bringing back a hint of Francis’ lived experience to my students, but the desire to compose something wholly Franciscan. The San Damiano Cross is one of the most distinctive Franciscan images we have on campus. The gentle Jesus that hangs on this 12th-century icon will forever be linked to Francis’ dramatic step from citizen to sainthood-welcoming his earnest prayer to enlighten the darkness of his heart. The Basilica of Santa Chiara in Assisi holds both the San Damiano Cross and the remains of his confidante, St. Clare. It seemed a good place to start getting serious. Copying the prayer in at least six different languages, I tucked it away in my travel books, not digging it out again until the following summer (2012). The opening phrases in the piece came easily enough (Altissimo, glorioso Dio), but I stumbled through a handful of ideas before coming up with the mantra (illumine le tenebre…). It made sense that Francis would joyfully address God singing forte (Altissimo and Signore), while quietly chanting his humble prayers for faith, hope, charity, and knowledge. The friendship between Francis and Clare can’t be missed, not only in the intermingling of SATB voices, but in the setting of che faccia lo tuo santo e verace comadamento (that I may carry out your holy and true command). The phrase is sung only once by the women before the final return of the illumine chant (which is repeated throughout by the men). Maybe I chanced on weaving some of Clare’s courage with Francis’ persistence into Illumina le tenebre, all while trying to compose something wholly Franciscan?  ---Mary Ellen Haupert, October 2012. Merrily on High is a well-loved Christmas carol with a rich history that connects secular and sacred traditions. Here are the key points to know about this festive song:Origins and CompositionMelody: The tune of Ding Dong! Merrily on High derives from a secular French dance song titled Branle de l’Official, published in 1588 by Thoinot Arbeau, a French cleric and composer. The original piece was part of a collection that included dance instructions and melodies from the Renaissance period.Lyrics: The English lyrics were written by George Ratcliffe Woodward in the early 20th century. An Anglican priest, Woodward published the carol in 1924 as part of The Cambridge Carol Book. His text celebrates the joy of Christmas, echoing the angelic announcement of Jesus' birth as described in Luke 2:13-14.Themes and SignificanceJoyful Celebration: The lyrics express a jubilant celebration of the Christmas season, invoking imagery of bells ringing and angels singing. The refrain Gloria, hosannah in excelsis! reflects the joyous proclamation of peace and goodwill associated with the birth of Christ.Cultural Impact: Over the years, Ding Dong! Merrily on High has become a staple in Christmas caroling and church services, appreciated for its lively and dance-like rhythm. Its playful nature makes it a favorite among singers and listeners, contributing to its enduring popularity during the holiday season.Musical CharacteristicsStructure: The carol features a catchy refrain and a structure that invites participation, making it suitable for group singing. The melody's ascending lines mimic the sound of ringing bells, enhancing its festive spirit.Public Domain Status: As of January 1, 2020, the song entered the public domain in the United States, allowing for broader access and use in various musical arrangements and performances.Ding Dong! Merrily on High stands as a joyful reminder of the Christmas story, blending historical melodies with contemporary celebration, making it a cherished part of holiday traditions.

Published by Branimir Pusticki (A0.1219998). One of Boccherinis most famous and performed works, La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid describes the bustling streets of night-time Madrid.About the composition, critic Jaume Tortella writes:“Taking its inspiration from nocturnal street scenes of Madrid, it seems to look back nostalgically to the gaiety and bustle of Spain’s capital, recalling the sound of the city’s church bells ringing for evening prayer, the popular dances that were the delight of its young people, and the blind beggars singing their typical viellas de rueda until the soldiers from the local garrison sound the midnight curfew with their Retreat.â€Arranged from the original string quintet for cello octet.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533655). Commissioned by and is dedicated to trombonist Haim Avitsur. Throughout the work, the trombone is placed into a variety of different musical contexts—sometimes with bleakness and sometimes with warmth. The work begins with the tubular bells alone, presenting the principal musical material of the work. The strings enter with a suspended tapestry, through which the trombone plays its opening melodies. In this section, the trombone has a cantorial role—singing and interacting with the orchestra. These opening musical ideas are developed as the trumpet, horn, and clarinet join the trombone in soloistic roles. A signal gesture on the trumpet is heard once, interrupting the tapestry. When the signal is heard again, the music accelerates into the second section. The second section is fast and bell-like as the trombone sings excited lines through ringing masses of sound. Whirring figurations emerge in the winds and are picked up by the strings. The sectiongrows wilder until it climaxes in hammer chords. From this, the trumpet, bells, and trombone emerge—maintaining and propelling the energy of thesection. Gradually, the energy is released, leading into the third section. The third section is chorale-like, combining again suspended sounds in the strings with harmonic motion in the winds in brass. The trombone again plays a cantorial role. A build up of energy occurs at the end of this section, leading into the fourth and final section—the cadenza. The trombone bursts into the cadenza, not with a forceful shout, but with a whisper. The work winds down to its conclusion—without a loss of speed or energy, but rather by the increase of silence. Instrumentation: 2111/1100/timp/1perc/soloTbn/strings The score by itself is available as another item. The parts are on rental from the publisher.

Snoopy's Christmas - Choral Arrangement for SSA and Piano by Michael Thomas CoullA follow-up to The Royal Guardsmen's earlier hit Snoopy vs. the Red Baron, the 1967 hit Snoopy's Christmas is a fictional account of how Snoopy was directed to go out and fight the Red Baron on a bitterly cold Christmas Eve.  The Baron has Snoopy at his mercy after a long dogfight, but instead of shooting him down he forces Snoopy to land and offers Snoopy a chivalrous holiday toast.  Afterward, Snoopy and the Red Baron fly their separate ways, 'each knowing they'd meet on some other day'.The song begins with a chorus singing O Tannenbaum.  The middle of the song is bridged by chimes ringing out a phrase from Hark the Herald Angels Sing. And the song also references the 1914 Christmas Truce of World War I which was initiated not by German and British commanders, but by the soldiers themselves in the trenches. This arrangement of Snoopy's Christmas for SSA and piano accompaniment is a great song to sing at any choirs end of year holiday concert. A classic Christmas song that is always a crowd favourite!
