Fauré: Élégie Op. 24 for Flute & Piano
Flûte traversière et Piano
Flute,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549725 Composed by Gabriel Faure. …

Flute,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549725 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contemporary,Multicultural,Romantic Period,Standards,World. Score and part. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #3531379. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549725). Duration: ca. 7:00, Score: 12 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano: 7 pages. An epic choice for a recital or funeral. Fauré Background: In the first place, Gabriel Fauré 1845 –1924) was a famous French composer, musician, and educator. Furthermore, his musical ideas influenced numerous 20th-century composers. Therefore, historians regard him as one of the leading French composers of his time. Famous Works: Among his most famous compositions, by and large, are the Pavane, Elegie (op. 24), Requiem, Sicilienne, Nocturnes for piano and the songs Après un rêve and Clair de lune. Inasmuch as his early works are well-known and relatively easy to perform, Faure’s music seems to have become gradually more difficult during his later life. In other words, his later works are somewhat esoteric and complex. Early Home Life: Fauré was in fact born into a well-cultivated family. His aptitude for music became particularly clear early on - when he was still a boy. Under these circumstances, his parents sent him to a music institution in Paris. Consequently, the training he received there prepared him for a career as a church organist and choirmaster. Middle Life: It is important to realize that Fauré studied music composition with the French musical mastermind Camille Saint-Saëns, who became his lifelong friend. Fauré eventually graduated from college and earned a living as an organist and educator. During this period, he had, on the whole, little time to compose. He consequently became more successful in his middle age, becoming organist of the Église de la Madeleine and director of the Paris Conservatoire. However, he still needed time on balance for composing. Therefore, given these points, he withdrew to the countryside during the summer to focus on composing. Later Life: Fauré was, in the final analysis, recognized in France as the foremost French composer of his time. The French government held a national musical tribute particularly for him in Paris. The French President notably headed the ceremony. Elsewhere, on the contrary, Fauré's music was slow to become accepted, except of course, in England. Legacy: Historians often describe Fauré's music in general as a transition between the end of Romanticism and the beginning of modernism. As an illustration, when Fauré was born, Chopin was still composing. However, by the time of Fauré's death, jazz and atonal music, in particular, had come to fruition. Fauré, by all means, suffered from increasing deafness in his later years. Some musicologists believe this to be indeed the cause of the esoteric nature of Faure’s final works.

Sonata for Flute and Piano, Op. 12

Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1021619 Composed by Tyler J. Holt. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 43 pages. TJHoltMusic #6134009. Published by TJHoltMusic (A0.1021619). Sonata for Flute and Piano, Op. 12 was written for and is dedicated to my friend, Natalie Smith. This sonata conveys different moods using various styles in each of the movements, all of which take some liberty and, at times, are vague with form. The first movement, inspired by Claude Debussy, uses a quasi mirror form, with the two motives connecting with a sudden yet seamless tempo change, which is supported by the driving rhythm in the piano, and a development in the middle of the movement. The second movement is a funeral march and is based on the chord progression built around the sustained B natural in the flute, which conveys a dreamlike atmosphere. As the progression transforms, there is an increasing sense of dread that unfolds until this feeling becomes primal before collapsing in on itself at the climax of the movement. From there, the progression returns more actively with, although not as strong as before, a sense of dread still present for the remainder of the movement. The movement is in ternary form (ABA), with a development in the first A section. The third movement is a more clearly defined rondo form and is based on themes that undergo subtle changes each time they return. Other themes include a recurring call and response between the treble and bass lines in the piano, which the flute participates in this exchange when it is presented again later, a reference to the second movement's progression, and a modal theme that floats in terms of harmonic and melodic structure. When the initial theme returns for the final time, a coda restates previous ideas as the finale gradually increases its tempo and concludes the piece. This movement is the most technically challenging, especially considering that I asked Natalie how fast she can double tongue. In general, there are a fair amount of high passages and big leaps. This was written with Natalie's skill set in mind.I. Moderato con gioiaII. Lamento sostenutoIII. ScherzoComposed by Tyler J. HoltPublished by TJHoltMusicCopyright © Tyler J. Holt, Composer.

Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Edward Elgar (1857-1934). Arranged by Edward Elgar. Romantic Period, Funeral, Recital. Score. 8 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Edward Elgar composed his Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, popularly known as the Enigma Variations, between October 1898 and February 1899. It is an orchestral work comprising fourteen variations on an original theme.<br> <br> Elgar dedicated the work "to my friends pictured within", each variation being a musical sketch of one of his circle of close acquaintances (see musical cryptogram). Those portrayed include Elgar's wife Alice, his friend and publisher Augustus J. Jaeger and Elgar himself.<br> <br> In naming his theme "Enigma" Elgar posed a challenge which has generated much speculation but has never been conclusively answered. The Enigma is widely believed to involve a hidden melody.<br> <br> The name of the variation IX (NIMROD) refers to Augustus J. Jaeger, who was employed as music editor by the London publisher Novello & Co. He was a close friend of Elgar's, giving him useful advice but also severe criticism, something Elgar greatly appreciated. Elgar later related how Jaeger had encouraged him as an artist and had stimulated him to continue composing despite setbacks. Nimrod is described in the Old Testament as "a mighty hunter before the Lord", Jäger being German for hunter.<br> <br> In 1904 Elgar told Dora Penny ("Dorabella") that this variation is not really a portrait, but "the story of something that happened". Once, when Elgar had been very depressed and was about to give it all up and write no more music, Jaeger had visited him and encouraged him to continue composing. He referred to Ludwig van Beethoven, who had a lot of worries, but wrote more and more beautiful music. "And that is what you must do", Jaeger said, and he sang the theme of the second movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 Pathétique. Elgar disclosed to Dora that the opening bars of "Nimrod" were made to suggest that theme. "Can't you hear it at the beginning? Only a hint, not a quotation."<br> <br> This variation has become popular in its own right and is sometimes used at British funerals, memorial services, and other solemn occasions. It is always played at the Cenotaph, Whitehall in London at the National Service of Remembrance. A version was also played during the Hong Kong handover ceremony in 1997 and at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The “Nimrod” variation was the final orchestral composition (before the national anthem) played by the Greek National Orchestra in a televised June 2013 concert, before the 75-year-old Athenian ensemble was dissolved in the wake of severe government cutbacks.<br> <br> An adaptation of the piece appears at the ending of the 2017 film Dunkirk as part of the score

Beautiful and haunting, memorable music by Chopin in an original and authentic version for wood quintet, ideal for funeral and memorial services for relatives, friends or near loved ones. It can be performed by music beginners or professionals in the area, where it can be used in recitals or professional or academic concerts. The best known funeral march is the third movement of the Piano Sonata No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 35 by Frédéric François Chopin. A decade before writing this movement, Chopin had already composed another funeral march in C minor, which was published posthumously as Marche funèbre Op.72 No. 2. Commonly used in movies and cartoons with the indication of death, often creating a negative stereotype as to the real purpose of the music, which is to honor the deceased.

Christian,Contemporary,Jazz,Spiritual,Traditional. Octavo. 12 pages. John P. Redmon Music (ASCAP)/adm. by Reaching Records #6247637. Published by John P. Redmon Music (ASCAP)/adm. by Reaching Records (A0.975464). John’s arrangement and performance on Just a Closer Walk with Thee (Medley) is accompanied by the Fresh Start Baptist Church male chorus, and what they bring to you is the SPIRIT’S glory! (Dick Metcalf, Contemporary Fusion Reviews)Just a Closer Walk With Thee (Medley) is positioned to be a timeless classic that skillfully intertwines two beloved hymns: Just a Closer Walk With Thee and What a Friend We Have in Jesus. This piano/vocal arrangement as the original recording adds an additional voice (as in duet form) creating a partnering dynamic in this prayer, this plea. Tune starts in Ab then seamlessly transitions into Db to introduce the church-staple What a Friend We Have In Jesus.Just a Closer Walk With Thee (Medley) appears on the album Honoring Louis Armstrong featuring Louis Armstrong Impressionist John Redmon and accompanied by The Thomas J. Dawson, Jr. iOrchestra. This version of Just a Closer Walk With Thee (Medley) is great for any traditional church service, funerals and sacred events. The recorded version is just a little over 4 minutes but your spirit will be elevated to a higher plane by the time the last key is released.John Redmon and Thomas Dawson, Jr. are both ASCAP affiliates. You can follow John Redmon on the following social media sites:Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/johnredmonmusic/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnredmonmusic/Twitter: https://twitter.com/johnredmonmusicFor more album information, visit: https://www.honoringlouisarmstrong.com/Record Label: https://www.reachingrecords.com/
