A nice collection of American tunes that we sometimes neglect to honor as a rich part of our heritage. Red River Valley has an easy solo version, and an intermediate solo version, both of which can be played together as a duet. Streets of Laredo has an easy solo version and three other versions of a more difficult nature, any of which can be played together, or one after another for an elongated performance of the tune. Shenandoah has an easy harp solo rendition and a version with large chords in the right hand. They can stand alone or be played in duet form. Arkansas Traveler/Turkey in the Straw medley is a clever stand-alone solo. Camptown Races has a very easy solo adaptation, plus two other versions just a bit more challenging, though not much. For Amazing Grace, there is an easy key of C version, a pedal harp key of C version, and an easy key of G version. There is a lower intermediate key of G secondo part, as well as a modulation to the key of C.

A revised collection of Jewish melodies from around the Mediterranean and Celtic music from the British Isles, woven together to celebrate the unique role harp has played in folklore and music from both traditions. Intermediate level, harmonics, well-marked accidentals, guitar chords, keys of C, Bb, G, F, and D. The accompaniment is very "harpistic" in nature with nice arpeggiated chords and flowing lines.

The motivation behind the ?layered solos ensemble effect? came from very successful learning and performing with the BegEnz harp books series.The idea is that the student harpist firstly learns a solo at level one. Then there are two versions of the solo, increasing in difficulty, and some parts which are accompaniment or harmonisation when they are played together. Harp one fits onto a fully levered 26 string harp (lowest string is C below middle C) and harps 2 and 3 fit onto 34 string harps.The first solo is always just a clear tune and single note accompaniment arrangement, so by the time they have successfully learnt this, and probably played it in the group, they know exactly how the piece sounds, and the structure of the arrangement. As they improve they can play a more challenging version, and/or stick to the easier part if playing in a group feels trickier. It?s all about having the confidence to take the next step up!The best thing about layered arrangements is that there is a good chunk of each version that can be used as a solo so you are practicing something that you can play without needing other harps to fill out the parts, but when you bring it all together you are still practicing very important ensemble skills ? listening to others, staying in time, being in tune, and being adaptive as a musician in a group.

Eight popular Christmas pieces arranged beautifully for beginner harpists. All pieces can be played as solos or duos, as each piece includes an optional accompaniment part for a more advanced harpist or pianist. An intermediate level book with the same pieces is available as well. The beginner, intermediate, and accompaniment parts can all be played together. Teachers can play along with students or form duo, trio and small ensemble groups for recitals.
