Poor Max! (for mezzo-soprano/alto voice and piano) (Folk/Rock)
Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Medium Voice,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.84127…

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Medium Voice,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.841273 Composed by Chris Gordon. Arranged by Chris Gordon. Folk,Rock. Score and parts. 10 pages. Cool Wind Music Digital #3220995. Published by Cool Wind Music Digital (A0.841273). This is a folk/rock ballad with a twist as the 'story' it tells comes straight out of a novel by German author Günter Grass', Local Anaesthetic (1969). Phillipp (Flip) Scherbaum, a 17-year old Berlin high school student, wants to do something, anything to protest what he has been reading in newspapers has been happening to the people of Vietnam. (Remember this is 1967!) He comes up with an idea: he has a little Dachshund puppy called Max. Flip decides to burn Max right outside the most famous café in Berlin, Kempinski's (it is still there), to shock complacent Berliners into paying attention to what is happening in Vietnam. His history teacher, Eberhard (Hardy) Starusch, agrees to Flip's protest idea but draws the line firmly against killing an innocent animal. Hardy sets out to dissuade his student from carrying out this doggiecide. Instead, he resolves to steer Flip to less harmful ways of protesting. The effort drives Hardy to a lot of hard thinking and hard drinking and a lot of trips to the dentist!Poor Max is a realisation of one of Hardy's suggestions to Flip: to write and perform a protest song outside Kempinski's - and elsewhere in Berlin, too. You will not be surprised to hear that head-strong Flip rejects this suggestion but I have taken up Hardy's idea and written my own protest song for Flip. The words and the music are my own: I have not borrowed either from anyone else (except for one little phrase which I discovered I had unconsciously borrowed from Robert Schumann)!

Choral Choir (2-Part) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1099392 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Children,Classical,Instructional. Octavo. 9 pages. Sally Whitwell #703279. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1099392). Do you want to build a rocket? was originally composed for a wonderful group of children I worked with at the Young Music Society Winter School in Canberra. The first day that I went in to meet them, I sat down with them on the floor and asked them what kind of performance they wanted to build. It was around the time that the Disney animated feature Frozen was very popular with kids. Or not, as it turns out, because one little boy’s hand shot up straight away and he said: “Tell you what I don’t wanna build: a stupid snowman!†He suggested we build a rocket instead. So that’s what we did. It’s a song about the wonder and curiosity we feel about the universe, of our desire to explore it, and of the determination and grit required to achieve that dream. It’s some very hard yards to build a rocket and to learn to fly it, but our dreams are always worth the work! I hope you have fun with this song. Teachers, I invite you to get as theatrical as you dare with it. In our original performance we had all these toy instruments, toy toolkits, and painted cardboard boxes. (So many boxes!). Let’s just say, if you think it’s gonna be ‘too much’, it’s probably exactly the right amount. Sally Whitwell August 2022.

The timing has been changed from 4/4 to 3/4 and the song given a more dramatic flair with a few blues notes thrown in. It can be used as a piano solo for a prelude or offertory, or to accompany a soloist. The vocal part is represented by an alto flute on the demo. The Youtube video has the vocal pitched an octave higher for instrumental only. Intermediate level. LeonoraHardy@gmail.com.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992770 By Chicago. By John Lewis Parker and Stephen Kipner. Arranged by Cody Kasten. Pop,Rock. Score. 5 pages. Shadowsoothe #3587531. Published by Shadowsoothe (A0.992770). This is a piano arrangement of one of Chicago's hit singles from Chicago 17 - Hard Habit to Break! The arrangement follows each key change as it happens in the song. While the key changes can feel daunting, the parts were simplified to help accommodate for the intermediate to late intermediate level pianists. The rather intriguing solo and breakdown before the final rendition of the refrain has been transcribed for the piano as well! A little extra tidbit has been added to bring the fade out into an ending. The duration of the piece is 4:30. It could work nicely as a recital piece or a perhaps as a prelude to an event, if one would like.

Socrates Arvanitakis #777640. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1177647). This sonata in three movements is the first of a group of three sonatas for guitar by the Tyrolian composer and mandolin/guitar virtuoso  Leonhard von Call (1767-1815).The source for this edition is the clearly written manuscript of the three sonatas in the Boije guitar music collection of the National Library of Sweden, marked as Gi Boije 615.The manuscript seems to be based on a 1924 publication of the three sonatas by N. Simrock / Musikverlag / Berlin with catalogue number Verlag 763.Although Von Call was a virtuoso instrumentalist, he seems to have focused on teaching amateurs rather than performing. Consequently, much of his music is not of a very demanding nature, but still well composed and well suited to the instruments for which it was written. From about 1798 until his death in 1815 he was quite successful as a composer in Vienna, and  he composed and published about 150 works, mainly chamber music for different combinations and much vocal music with guitar accompaniment.

Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746229 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Michael Pilley. Blues,Jazz. Brass Band. 93 pages. Michael Pilley Music #5302441. Published by Michael Pilley Music (A0.746229). As performed by Tredegar Town Band at Brass In Concert 2014 in their 3rd place winning program, With A Little Help From My Friends is a transcription/arrangement of the ProBrass version. This arrangement helped Dewi Griffiths secure the Best Principal Cornet prize and requires a soloist that can either improvise, or capable of playing Thomas Gansch style blues licks as in the original solo, which is also included with the parts. This arrangement begins with a piccolo trumpet duo (also playable on Soprano and Bb Cornet) in a baroque style, then building to a massive 6/8 power ballad entrance, followed by a bluesy solo trumpet feature. More building to a big section requiring the soloist to unleash their inner rock god follows, then back down to a sedate blues where a solo trombonist joins in the antics. The ending is a tricky metric modulation, where the 6/8 turns into a rock 4/4 and brings in the big guns (the bass section) with some hard hitting lines. Feel free to allow your drummer to ad lib. as much of this piece as you dare! Beautifully laid out in A4 size, the score and parts are easy to read and available NOW for digital download. We suggest you print on 80gsm paper, to ensure that the copies last longer in your bands library. If you're printing on letter size paper, please fit to page when sending to the printer.
