Organ - easy to intermediate - SKU: S9.Q47855 Free Organ Works. Composed by Matthias Weckmann. This edition: Sheet music. Masters of the North German School for Organ. Downloadable. Op Band 24. Schott Music - Digital #Q47855. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47855). Matthias Weckmann, born in Niederdorla near Mühlhausen (Thuringia) in 1616 and died in Hamburg in 1674, was trained as a musician by Heinrich Schütz in Dresden among others. He worked as an organist in Dresden (Schloßkirche) and Hamburg (St. Jakobi). It is particularly for the Jakobi organ that he wrote his elaborate and virtuoso organ works. Our new edition in the renowned series 'Masters of the North German Organ School' faithfully transfers the works which survived in letter tablature, providing a reliably edited urtext. Volume 1 contains the cantus firmus-based works, 8 authentic verse cycles with 2-7 movements each in which chorale melodies such as 'Es ist das Heil uns kommen her', 'Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ)' or the 'Magnificat' are varied, as well as a cycle on 'Ach wir armen Sünder' attributed to Weckmann. Volume 2 proves him to a master of concertante organ music, containing 3 works with pedal (Fantasia, Fuga and Praeambulum in D) as well as several moderately difficult works to be played on manuals only (6 toccatas, 5 canzonas). Reliable standard edition of the music by one of the great (North) German organ masters.

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6616). German.

Brass Band Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.817175 Composed by Johann Hermann Schein. Arranged by Richard Decker. Baroque,Early Music,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. 69 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #6662589. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.817175). For those who find the antiphonal brass music of Gabrieli exciting, this triple quartet antiphonal setting of Schein’s music will be a welcomed addition to the large ensemble brass choir repertoire. This masterpiece celebrates the glorious  antiphonal style of the early Baroque period and allows for the full-throated spectacular brass ensemble sounds of today.  A contemporary of Giovanni Gabrieli and Heinrich Schütz, Schein's vocal showpiece translates perfectly to an orchestral brass section and works as an outstanding concert addition for brass ensembles from school groups to professionals. Magnificently scored, this triple antiphonal quartet transcription can be an impressive and memorable showcase for your band or orchestra brass section at your next concert. Alternate C trumpet parts and Horn substitute parts for two of the trombone parts are included. A recording of the entire transcription is included. See 50+ homogeneous brass editions for trumpet, horn and trombone ensembles and 75+ mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Trombone Ensemble Choir - Advanced Intermediate - Composed by Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672). Arranged by Kenneth Biggs. Baroque Period, Renaissance, Early Music, Sacred. Score, Set of Parts. 32 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Heinrich Schtz (1585-1672) wrote the Musikalische Exequien, opus 7 (SWV 279-281) for the funeral of Prince Heinrich Posthumus von Reuss (1572-1635). Prince Heinrich?s widow and sons commissioned the work upon his death and provided Schtz with Bible verses as the text, which were also inscribed on the prince?s coffin.
Two of the three parts of the Musikalische Exequien have been arranged for 8-part Trombone Ensemble in two different choirs. The first piece, Motet is reminiscent of Gabrieli's Sonatas. The second piece, Canticum Sineonis is dense, rich, and evokes deep spiritual suffering and loss.
Two Sacred Pieces have been exquisitely edited and arranged by Kenneth Biggs for moderately advanced performers and work very well with 2 Alto Trombones, 4 Tenor Trombones, and 2 Bass Trombones.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.792222 Composed by Heinrich Schutz. Arranged by Fetter, David. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 40 pages. Gordon Cherry #4728855. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792222). Psalm 1 by Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672), is taken from his collection of choral settings of several of the biblical Psalms of David, in which Schütz continued the polychoral tradition he had absorbed in Venice as a student of Giovanni Gabrieli. Schütz indicated in his preface to the Psalms, published in 1619, that due to limits on performance during the Thirty Years War, alternate instruments or voices could be employed as available. As Psalm 1 was composed for two choirs of voices, it might be an attractive option to double the parts in this version for brass. Also, the choirs might be placed some distance apart. The original version of Psalm I is for two four-part choirs, one of mixed voices and one of tenors and basses. (The original also calls for continuo accompaniment, but, as in similar works of Gabrieli, the choral parts sound complete in themselves.) Composer/arranger David Fetter (b. 1938) is a Trombone faculty member at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Also a conductor, his works are performed in concert, at festivals, and in educational settings in the U.S. and Europe and they have been recorded by leading soloists. Mr. Fetter is a former member of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Radio/Telefis Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the U.S. Army Band, and other ensembles, where he performed for conductors who included George Szell, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, James Levine, Sergiu Comissiona, and David Zinman. At the Eastman School of Music he was a trombone student of Emory Remington and a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble under Frederick Fennell. He holds a Master’s in Musicology from The American University. See www.peabody.jhu.edu/David Fetter.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.817182 Composed by Andreas Hammerschmidt. Arranged by Richard Decker. Baroque,Chamber,Multicultural,World. 69 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #6711831. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.817182). A contemporary of the famous Heinrich Schütz, Andreas Hammerschmidt was a prolific composer of both German church and instrumental music in the mid-17th century. Taken from two of his instrumental collections written between 1636-1639, this eclectic Baroque Dance Suite (Paduan, Aria, Galliard, Courente, Mascharada) written in the tradition of English influenced suites from northern and central Germany provides plenty of solo lines for all of the players. If you are looking for that early music option for your recital program Centone II will give your program a dynamic start. The edition is arranged for a brass quintet of two B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. A recording of the complete edition is included.See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548715). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther arranged for clarinet & piano. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Features the entire range of the instrument. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 3 pg. Solo part: 1 pg. The piano reads from the score. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics, essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed pieces, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.
