This arrangement is one of the 10 hymns included in the collection Ten Classic Hymns for 8-note Bells and Boomwhackers (with Color Coded Notes). This sheet music is notated for 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating a 2-part instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Both parts play the melody for one verse beginning with part one (handbells) on the melody and part two (Boomwhackers®) on harmony. After a short interlude, part two plays the melody for the second verse while part one plays harmony. If you want to play only the first verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together. Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note chart is also provided to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. Lyrics are provided as well for sing along enjoyment. This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. The Power of the One is a 67 measure, 4-5 octave medley of Christian hymns whose unifying theme is the Power of the (One) God. This medley is comprised of I Sing the Mighty Power of God, Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above, Eternal Father, Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn) and He Is Able to Deliver Thee. The first two of these hymns are upbeat, and include some melody doubling into the highest octave. Those two and the last hymn make use of occasional descant lines. He Is Able to Deliver Thee is very lively, and utilizes both an occasional descant line, and (fairly fast) bass runs. In between Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above and He Is Able to Deliver Thee, you have the slower, and much more reverential Eternal Father, Strong to Save (also known as The Navy Hymn), which uses handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. This selection helps add a contrast in style, tempo and volume to the other three. At the end, there is a tag consisting of the last part of Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above at a slower tempo, and at a triple forte dynamic level, for a grandioso ending. The fast bass runs contribute to my thinking that this arrangement is probably a 3+ difficulty level.

Maestro gives his seal of approval for these beginning handbell arrangements of three traditional worship hymns (Come, Christians, Join to Sing, Holy, Holy, Holy, and O Worship the King.) Created to insure quick success for new ringers, WORSHIP BELLS hymn trio does not include hymn melody or intricate rhythm patterns. Ringers play 'simple to count' chords for the most part. I use the color-coding method of highlighting the ringer's notes in the handbell chart and then highlighting with the same color the notes in the hymn. Each measure is numbered and if your ringer can count and follow the colors, he/she can ring! For those new to reading music, music instruction begins with identifying 1/4, 1/2, whole notes, dotted notes, repeat signs, and practicing specific rhythm patterns for each hymn. Identifying note names comes later. You'll have a great sounding handbell choir in no time, especially when you add in your piano/organ accompaniment of these hymns and a soloist, ensemble, or congregational singing! Seven pages total. The first page of the set gives more helpful information, so as Maestro would say, Go ring those bells!.
