Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Living much of her life in isolation, Dickinson's thoughts often ventured into the shadowlands of existence. This poem, published posthumously in 1890, offers a chilling reflection of her contemplation. The Grim Reaper, a timeless symbol, is portrayed as a carriage driver, guiding the reader through a somber journey that mirrors the ephemeral nature of life. Passing scenes of childhood innocence, maturity's labor, and the twilight of existence, it culminates in the cold embrace of the grave. Her words, etched in a gothic darkness, resonate with the uncertainties and fears of her time, transcending to speak to the eternal human condition.

Harp - Easy/Beginner - Digital Download Arranged by Ray Pool. Method, Technique Training. 90 pages. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp
This is a study of ear training through melodic development. Small melodic fragments from familiar nursery rhymes, folk, patriotic and hymns tunes are used. The numbers 1 through 7 are used instead of using ?Do, Re, Mi?? to identify the notes in the scale. Melodies are categorized by range, beginning with a range of only three notes, progressing through a total of nine categories. Skills in ear training are highly useful to musicians who might be asked to take requests at hotels, parties and restaurants, or those involved in harp therapy. With the melodic fragments that are the focus of study, performance by ear can be highly strengthened and developed. Table of Contents: All Through the Night, Amazing Grace, America, Angels from the Realms of Glory, Angels We Have Heard on High, Au Clare de la Lune, Away in a Manger, Be Thou My Vision, Billy Boy, Cindy, Clementine, Day is Done (Taps), Down in the Valley, Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes, For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, Frere Jacques, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Go Tell It On the Mountain, Goin' Home, Good King Wenceslas, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, Here We Come A'Wassailing, Home on the Range, Home Sweet Home, Hot Cross Buns, I'm a Little Teapot, Jingle Bells, Joy to the World, Kumbayah, Lightly Row, London Bridge, Lonesome Valley, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, Morning Has Broken, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean, Ode to Joy, Oh Susanna, Oh How Lovely is the Evening, Old Folks at Home, Old Hundredth, On Top of Old Smokey, Over the River and Through the Woods, Row Row Row Your Boat, Shenandoah, Silent Night, Skip to my Lou, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, The Farmer in the Dell, The First Nowell, The Harp that Once Thro' Tara's Halls, The Star Spangled Banner, This Old Man, Three Blind Mice, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, We Wish You Merry Christmas, When the Saints Go Marching In.

Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns.  You can also type John Fries in the searchbar to see all I have to offer. The song originated in 1947 under the title Music from Beyond the Moon, with music by Guy B. Wood and lyrics by Jack Lawrence. Vocalist Vic Damone recorded this version in the same year and released it as a B-side to I'll Always Be In Love With You (Mercury 5072), but it was unsuccessful. In 1952, Robert Mellin wrote a new title and lyrics for the song, and it was republished the next year as “My One and Only Loveâ€. When Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1953 with Nelson Riddle, first released as B-side to his hit single I've Got the World on a String (Capitol 2505), it became known as a jazz standard.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1202804 Composed by Richard Hirsch. 20th Century,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 9 pages. Richard Hirsch #801568. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1202804). I offer an original composition for solo acoustic guitar that I have carried with me over several decades and through several changes in living situation. I started working with the piece already back in the 1970s when I was living in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and kept developing it when I moved to Stockholm and from there to Gothenburg, Sweden. A first recording of the composition was made in a private studio just outside Gothenburg in 1987. I have only recently been able to transmit the piece to musical notation in preparation for publication. The piece has a relaxed nature and contains many repetitions of simple themes that are meant to evoke a sense of monotonous spaciousness. One musician who listened to the first recording said he thought it sounded minimalistic, which I thought was a good description, although at the time I was unaware that minimalism was a term used to describe a whole style of music. The piece has a rather meditative character in the first part, turning more rhythmic in the second part. The third part is a swing version of the first part and the piece ends with a return to the meditative straight first part. The piece is meant to be primitive in the sense of primordial and goes in something resembling a pentatonic scale based on A. The rhythmic second part should be played so that the guitar starts to hum an A tone, the humming carrying over into and through the more melodic sections. The composition has an organic development with slight variations in the basic themes as the piece progresses.Depending on the mood of the interpreting performer, the repetitions might be played in a different order or a different number of times. I seldom play the composition exactly the same every time myself. The piece has also worked as a basis for jam sessions with accompaniment of drums and a base, although the guitar had to have some sort of amplification. The piece can be played on either steel string or nylon string acoustic guitars, or electric guitars. I chose the title Big Drum because of the recurring base A that is a dominant feature of the piece, reminding me of the big drums played by people all over the world. The piece has a participatory character, especially in the more rhythmic and swing parts, inviting the listeners to clap, stamp their feet, or drum on whatever is available,As the notation is accompanied by tablature, I refrain from giving left hand fingering. The right hand fingering consists basically of base notes played by the thumb and treble notes played by alternating index and middle fingers in combination with the ring finger.

Composer’s Note - Treasure ChestI was commissioned by the Canberra International Music Festival in 2016 to write a work for children’s chorus. The concert was a Mothers’ Day event, sponsored by a couple of local boutique chocolatiers, so the works on the program were all chocolate and coffee themed, including J S Bach’s Coffee Cantata and a bunch of songs from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The festival’s Artistic Director Roland Peelman asked me if I could write a new piece on this theme. So I got thinking about chocolate and about Mothers’ Day and about how when you’re a little kid and have no earnings, you still give your mum a present for her special day (that is, your dad pays for it and you sign the card!). And if it’s chocolate, you might give her your favourite chocolate instead of hers, and all you are really waiting for is for her to offer you one. When I was a child, I always used to think of chocolate boxes as treasure chests, full of shining precious things only consumed on very special occasions. Because they were such a rarity, you really had to savour each sweet taste and gooey texture. I ’m sure from this song, you’ll be able to tell that I am a big sweet tooth!-- Sally Whitwell

Claude Debussy: Sérénade for violin and piano
Violon et Piano
Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534583 Composed by Claude Debussy…

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534583 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #4727479. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534583). Preface:In the early 1890s, Debussy composed the opening of a lyrical piece in E major for violin and piano, perhaps as a shorter companion piece for the violin Nocturne he was planning for the Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. After Debussy’s death in 1918, his second wife Emma often gave away sketch pages to performers or composers as memorials to her beloved husband , and this particular page was given to the Cuban born pianist and composer Joaquin Nin (1879-1949). It came up for sale in the catalogue of the British antiquarian dealer Lisa Cox in 2010 and although it might possibly be an early song for contralto and piano, the more dynamic idea in bar 12 strongly suggests the violin, especially as it begins on an open D string. Moreover, there is no text and in pieces of this length, Debussy usually wrote at least one word in, if only to remind himself where he had got to in any song. So my starting point was a complete 12-bar melody gently undulating in the violin’s lowest register over a sensual accompaniment, rising to a climax in bar 12 and giving me a contrasting idea that I could use as a link between sections and in the cadenza. As the B section (bars 14-26) derives directly from Debussy’s opening theme by metamorphosis, my own additions were restricted to the central section (bars 27-57) - comprising a new scherzando idea (C) and the more lyrical D (bars 36-46). C returns at bar 47, followed by the opening sections in reverse order, so that the Sérénade begins and ends with Debussy’s material and is cast in arch form (ABCDCBA). Robert OrledgeBrighton, 19 June 2019Robert Orledge was born in Bath in 1948 and educated at Clare College, Cambridge, where he gained his doctorate for his study of the composer Charles Kœchlin in 1973. Between 1971 and 1991 He rose from Lecturer to Professor in the Music Department of the University of Liverpool, publishing books on Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Charles Kœchlin and Erik Satie, as well as numerous articles, editions and reviews. As a historical musicologist, Professor Orledge specialized in the way composers composed, ,and since taking early retirement in 2004, he has concentrated on completing and orchestrating Debussy’s unfinished works, and especially his theatre projects. His completion of Debussy’s opera The Fall of the House of Usher (1908-17) was successfully premiered at the Bregenz Opera Festival in Austria in August 2006 and has since been performed in America, Portugal Germany and Holland, as well as being broadcast throughout Europe. A DVD of the Bregenz premier is available on Capriccio 93517, produced by Phylida Lloyd and conducted by Lawrence Foster. His completion of the Chinese ballet No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence (1914) was also premiered in 2006 in Los Angeles and other completions include La Saulaie and the Nocturne and Poème for violin and orchestra as well as Debussy’s other Poe opera Le Diable dans le Beffroi.

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download By Queen. Arranged by Mario Stallbaumer. 6 pages. Published by Mario Stallbaumer
With these piano sheets, you can play “Bohemian Rhapsody” on piano!<br> <br> It’s an accurate piano arrangement of the whole piece, including all parts, full melody & instrumental solos.<br> <br> I believe this is the most accurate piano arrangement of the song you will find anywhere.<br> <br> It’s a “Bohemian Rhapsody” piano version in the song’s original key, it’s playable, and it sounds fantastic!<br> <br> <br> I also created sheet music of the same piano arrangement with the song’s full lyrics - you can get it here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/21155920<br> <br> <br> “Bohemian Rhapsody” was, of course, written by the one and only Freddie Mercury.<br> <br> It was included on Queen’s 1975 album “A Night at the Opera” and became one of Queen’s biggest hits. Today, it is considered by many to be the best classic rock song of all time.<br> <br> <br> There’s a good reason why the 2018 biographical film about Freddie Mercuy (played by Rami Malek) is named after this song - arguably his greatest composition.<br> <br> <br> “Bohemian Rhapsody” is famous for its diverse parts: from the a-capella-intro to rock ballad verses, from hard rock guitar solos to operatic sections.<br> <br> “Bohemian Rhapsody” really is the whole package - and all parts of it can sound surprisingly great on piano, if played right!<br> <br> <br> In my experience, many arrangements of the song seem to be lacking something: They are not accurate, don’t sound powerful enough, there are important parts or even whole sections missing.<br> <br> So I took my time to create a piano arrangement of the song which I feel does justice to this wonderful piece.<br> <br> <br> I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do!<br> <br> <br> <br> Here are the full lyrics to “Bohemian Rhapsody”:<br> <br> <br> “Is this the real life?<br> <br> Is this just fantasy?<br> <br> Caught in a landslide<br> <br> No escape from reality<br> <br> Open your eyes<br> <br> Look up to the skies and see<br> <br> I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy<br> <br> Because I'm easy come, easy go<br> <br> A little high, little low<br> <br> Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me<br> <br> Mama, just killed a man<br> <br> Put a gun against his head<br> <br> Pulled my trigger, now he's dead<br> <br> Mama, life had just begun<br> <br> But now I've gone and thrown it all away<br> <br> Mama, oh oh<br> <br> Didn't mean to make you cry<br> <br> If I'm not back again this time tomorrow<br> <br> Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters<br> <br> Too late, my time has come<br> <br> Sends shivers down my spine<br> <br> Body's aching all the time<br> <br> Goodbye everybody I've got to go<br> <br> Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth<br> <br> Mama, oh oh (anyway the wind blows)<br> <br> I don't want to die<br> <br> Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all<br> <br> I see a little silhouetto of a man<br> <br> Scaramouch, Scaramouch will you do the Fandango<br> <br> Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me<br> <br> Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, figaro, magnifico<br> <br> I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me<br> <br> He's just a poor boy from a poor family<br> <br> Spare him his life from this monstrosity<br> <br> Easy come easy go will you let me go<br> <br> Bismillah, no we will not let you go, let him go<br> <br> Bismillah, we will not let you go, let him go<br> <br> Bismillah, we will not let you go, let me go<br> <br> (Will not let you go) let me go (never, never let you go) let me go (never let me go)<br> <br> Oh oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no<br> <br> Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go<br> <br> Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me for me for me<br> <br> So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye<br> <br> So you think you can love me and leave me to die<br> <br> Oh baby can't do this to me baby<br> <br> Just gotta get out just gotta get right outta here<br> <br> Oh oh oh yeah, oh oh yeah<br> <br> Nothing really matters<br> <br> Anyone can see<br> <br> Nothing really matters<br> <br> Nothing really matters to me<br> <br> Anyway the wind blows”

Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224504 Composed by Aaryn S. Ricucci-Hill. 21st Century,Classical. 26 pages. Abundant Silence #820608. Published by Abundant Silence (A0.1224504). In 2022 I was commissioned to write a piece which would accompany a proposal submitted to the College Music Society conference in Boise, ID. Part of the proposal suggested music that celebrated the rich musical heritage of the Northwest. In looking around at what that meant, I discovered a curious fact about Boise: it has the only Basque heritage museum in the country. Suddenly the wheels got to turning! Basquing (2022) seeks to invoke... bask, if one will, in the sounds and feelings of another time and place. The inspiration of the piece comes from the Basque region of France with quotations from folksong, fiddle music, and a general vibe of French impressionism. The piece opens with the folksong Atzo Goizean, the lyrics to which invoke the folksy elements of village living (talking about waking to the thrush’s song, fathers arranging marriages, etc.). The urge to ‘word paint’ the folk song with it references to thrushes and partridges, is tempting, but the urge was avoided in this case, instead opting for a general “vibeâ€, or feeling. The next section avoids quotation altogether, instead opting to steep into the mystique environment created before. The last major portion of the piece utilizes what was billed (to me at least) as a Basque fiddle tune (the title lost as it seems the scholarly research on the subject and tunes that comprise the genre are lacking even by those who claim to have some knowledge of it). Assuming the best, however, the fiddle tune quoted in Basquing is meant to be a musical representation of familial resemblance to the fiddle music of the Pacific Northwest and how folk music of all varieties is at one time so specific yet at the same time broad in its understanding across cultures. Commissioned in 2022 by Arthur Houle (pianist) and Joung Hoon Song (violinist) for the Pacific Northwest College Music Society Conference 2023 in Boise, ID and premiered at said conference on March 17th, 2023.

Although the show ran for only 39 performances, Blue Skies was an instant success, with audiences on opening night demanding 24 encores of the piece from star Belle Baker. During the final repetition, Ms. Baker forgot her lyrics, prompting Berlin to sing them from his seat in the front row. The song was featured prominently in the film Star Trek: Nemesis, as sung by Commander Data during the wedding at the start of the film. It is sung again at the very end of the film by his brother, the android B-4, during the final scene set in the 24th century,.

Thanks, John. The song spent six weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in the spring of 1969 and was eventually certified platinum in the US by the RIAA.  Instrumental backing was written by Bill Holman and provided by session musicians commonly known as the Wrecking Crew.  As Holman tells it, the recording can be traced to an incident in which 5th Dimension lead singer Billy Davis Jr. left his wallet in a New York City cab; the man who found the wallet was involved in the production of Hair and invited the group to see the show:  After they'd seen it I received a phone call in which they were all talking over one another, saying 'We've got to cut this song Aquarius.  It's the best thing ever.'.
