String Orchestra - Level 5 - SKU: A0.861929 Composed by Mark O'Connor. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 42 pages. Mark O'Connor Musik International #6208101. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861929). The American Seasons (1st violins part – violin and string orchestra) MO148D1st Violins Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor38 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Composed in 1999, the music celebrates the various stages of an American life at the waking of the 21st century. Constructed in four movements and representing four stages of life, birth, adolescence, maturity and old age, the music also pays homage to Shakespeare's Seasons Of Man His acts being seven ages, incorporated throughout the work.Spring introduces the ideas of birth and infancy. After the principal theme has been stated, there is a violin cadenza encountering all twelve major keys and a 13/8 time signature representing the ancient golden ratio. These elements recall birth with all the possibilities a new life offers. Ending the movement, the principal theme is repeated with more complexity... as if posing life's questions.Summer represents the excitement and bravado of youthful adolescence and young adulthood. For the style of this movement I use a happy-go-lucky Blues voice which melds into Swing. I identify swing rhythm in all of 20th century American music culture as a common thread that runs through Ragtime through Rock and Roll on to Rap. Swing means testing the waters and pushing the envelope for lovers and soldiers.Fall is the slow movement symbolizing the wisdom of maturity. It is a peaceful theme with nostalgic strokes. It is a time for sincere reflection and enjoying ones accomplishments in life.Winter embodies the complexities and knowledge of an older person and that of a dying person. The movement begins with the principal them from Spring, but with a dissonance that emanates from a lifetime full of emotions and responsibilities. In the middle of the movement is a transition to an old world. I use my personal ancestry from Ireland as a foundation from which to rediscover one's lineage and explore the meaning and value of a cultural legacy. The exploration evolves into a four- and five-part fugue with a reel, jig, air, countered bass and the motif from the principal theme. All these elements, dances and melodies appear simultaneously and converge to form a unique insight to life's consequences from a historical perspective. Following the fugue, the principal theme finds its way back in. It sounds much as it did at birth. In the end, the solo violin cadenza carries the last earthly breaths before the violin and orchestra once again join in harmony to focus on a new life being transformed somewhere else. Life's four seasons in perpetuity. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1999 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCommissioned by the Troy Savings Bank Concert Hall for their 2000 Celebration Can be heard on American Seasons Sony Classical and The Essential Mark O’Connor Sony ClassicalMark O’Connor - violin, Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, Scott Yoo Catalogue Number MO148DCopyright © 1999 by Mark O’Connor Music International For more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor M.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1272508 By Maria Thompson Corley. By Anonymous. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Classical,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 35 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #864733. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1272508). “Crossing Jordan†grew out of my daughter Kiana’s surprise request that I arrange a spiritual for voice, piano and cello for her senior recital. She received a degree in commercial music the year before COVID shut everything down, at a time before climate change made blizzards an anomaly here in Central PA. As a result, snow days still existed. I spent one of them doing the first draft of “Deep River,†her favorite.Later, I decided that if singers engage a cellist for a concert, they might like to program more than one piece for them, so I chose two more water-themed spirituals to complete the set. “His Name So Sweet†is a more meditative version of the song than I’ve generally heard. I wanted the piano, cello, and briefly the voice to imitate the fountain in the text. The mood is ecstasy, resulting from the fundamental change that baptism is meant to create. “Deep River†also includes “Michael Row The Boat Ashore†and “The Water Is Wide.†The latter isn’t a spiritual, however, taken together the message is that the river is deep, the water is wide, but with (the Archangel?) Michael’s help, Jordan can be crossed. “Wade in the Water†is one of the most well-known spirituals. I focus on the idea of escaping enslavement: the opening is quiet, furtive, maybe even nervous. The Moses in the text can be understood to be Harriet Tubman, who might urge escapees to wade in the water so pursuing dogs couldn’t follow their scent. In my mind, the ending symbolizes that the party has vanished, never to be enslaved again. The first instrumental version of “Deep River†was for trumpet and piano, performed by my sister, Alicia Thompson, and her son, Justin Griffin, during a church service in Atlanta shortly after I arranged it. After hearing a recording, I took borrowed her idea of adding a repeat (which she did to allow enough time for the ushers to take up collection). The clarinet, cello and piano version was premiered by the Isosceles Trio (Doris Hall-Gulati (clarinet), Sara Male (cello), and me (piano)). When Naima Burrs, violinist and conductor of the Petersburg Symphony, asked if I had any pieces for trio, I created a version for violin, piano and cello. Please note that the YouTube version for clarinet is slightly different than the one with violin, to accommodate the differences in range.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - SKU: A0.977362 By Creedence Clearwater Revival. By Jay Hawkins. Arranged by Des McNutty. Rock. Score and parts. 11 pages. Des Press #6598291. Published by Des Press (A0.977362). I Put a Spell on You was originally a refined love song written by Jalacy Screamin' Jay Hawkins . In 1956, he recorded the notorious version upon which this arrangement is based. Notorious because he didn't even remember recording it and the single was banned from many radio stations. I Put a Spell on You didn't even make the charts but still sold more than a million copies and is considered one of the greatest Rock and Roll tracks of all time. It all sort of just fell in place. I found out I could do more destroying a song and screaming it to death. This arrangement for string quartet is a relatively straight-forward idiomatic transcription in the same tonality as the original recording, so you could even play along with it for fun. In this case, since standard notation has certain limitations, it is recommended that the 1st violin and viola players listen to the original track to find out how their notes were performed and work out their own interpretations. Strillato means ranting-ly, screamingly, but a mere word is not enough. The level is on the easier side of advanced; quickly rehearsed by professional quartets and an accessible challenge for experienced students. Waaa-aa-o-oo!

The synopsis of the story is Oshun, formerly known as Adelola is a runaway slave who becomes a pirate raiding ships on the Transatlantic Trade Route to save other slaves. In this piece I envision a large ship sailing across the sea through both calm and treacherous waters but the ship never strays from the path and never sinks.~This score has been revised~

Instrumental Duet,Piano B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1284510 Composed by Spiritual. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Chamber,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. 8 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #875683. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1284510).

The American Seasons (violin solo part – violin and string orchestra) MO148BViolin Solo Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor30 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1394900 By Owl City. By Adam Young, Brian Lee, and Matthew Thiessen. Arranged by Sean Dixon. 21st Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 19 pages. Sean Dixon #978382. Published by Sean Dixon (A0.1394900). When Can I See You Again is an electronic, dance song that runs throughout Disney Pixar's movie Wreck-It-Ralph. However, how does the thumbing of kick drums and the whirl of synthesizers translate to a string quartet? This arrangment was written for late elementary and middle school students in mind. The melody is split up between each instrument allowing for each student to be featured, but also teaching young musicians when to play out and when to play under the melody. Most of the players use pizzaccato or tremolo at some point, allowing the musicians to explore the different textures they can create with their instruments. Students are introduced to some syncopation but are still given strong downbeats by someone else in the ensemble. This arrangment allows for students to learn fundemental music skills while also playing something they have heard on the big screen!
