Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125754 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mary Ann W. Snowball. Christian,Christmas,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 3 pages. Kevin G. Pace #726494. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1125754). A lovely, Christmas hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball. Text: I wonder on that Christmas day, when Baby Jesus slept on hay, If He dreamed the world would sing sweet songs about the love He’d bring? I wonder when the star shone bright if sheep were startled by the light? Did the shepherds stop and pray to find where Baby Jesus lay? I wonder if the cattle stirred when cries from Jesus could be heard? Did his mother wrap him tight and sing to Him throughout the night? I wonder when the wisemen came, if they were told the Baby’s Name? Were the precious gifts they brought then used by Jesus as He taught? I wonder on that Christmas day, when Baby Jesus slept on hay, If He knew He’d grow to be God’s greatest gift for you and me? I wonder if dear Joseph stayed with Mary to give needed aid? Did he feed the donkey there, or give sweet Mary all his care?

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719768 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. 9 pages. Curtis Hanson #6069393. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719768). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include Breathe on Me, Breath of God, Blest Be the Tie That Binds, and More Love to Thee, O Christ. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.

The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.*A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This medley of hymns was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second hymn is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.

Handbell - Digital Download SKU: JX.00-11528 Lent, Holy Week, & Easter. Arranged by Anna Laura Page. This edition: Handbell Part. Choral Worship Collection; Performance Music Ensemble; Single Titles. Alfred Handbell Series. Easter; Holy Week; Lent; Sacred; Spring. Part(s). 16 pages. Jubilate Music Group - Digital #00-11528. Published by Jubilate Music Group - Digital (JX.00-11528). English.Hymn Descants for Ringers and Singers is a wonderful worship resource that provides fresh opportunities for programming with handbells, singers, and keyboard. The collection is presented in four volumes focusing on seasonal applications: -Volume I---Advent, Christmas & Epiphany -Volume II---Lent, Holy Week & Easter -Volume III---All Saints', Ascension, Christ the King, Communion, Pentecost, Reformation & Trinity Sunday -Volume IV---Patriotism, Stewardship & Thanksgiving. Each volume contains 10 tunes arranged for 3-octaves handbells. Each tune was selected based upon its appropriateness to both festal days and special events in the church year as well as to its common usage in most major denominational hymnals. The handbell arrangements may serve as hymn introductions, interludes, postludes, or accompaniments. The rich harmonizations are based upon the standard harmonic structures of each hymn, enhancing them without straying too far afield. Thus, they may be used to accompany hymn singing, inspiring rather than frightening the average congregant! These arrangements may also be performed as separate handbell pieces without singing.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976721 Composed by 12th Century Plainchant. Arranged by Robert Myers. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 76 pages. WheatMyer Music #4798079. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976721). DIVINUM MYSTERIUM is a chant tune dating to the 12th century which is associated with the hymn, Of the Father's Love Begotten, based on the Latin hymn, Corde natus ex parentis, written by Prudentius in the late 4th / early 5th century. This is thus one of the very oldest texts and tunes still sung in our churches today. The shape and flow of this arrangement, which includes quotations from CANTIQUE de NOEL (O Holy Night) – Adolphe Adam (1844), was strongly influenced by what one writer described as the strong wave shapes of the tune. I’ve attempted to make these waves a significant feature of the piece, featured in both the constant crescendo/decrescendos and the interweaving of the two tunes. And, just as ocean waves don’t arrive in steady rhythms, these musical waves are variable – sometimes closely spaced, sometimes not, and sometimes overlapping. The unique character of each of the three major sections is implied in their headings: (1) with mystery and wonder, (2) Joyfully – a child is born, and (3) contemplative – God is with us. The opening section portrays the mystery of the trinity (the hymn text was written as an apology for the Nicene Creed) mixed with the wonder of the Creator God lying in a manger. Since the tune is derived from medieval chant, I wanted this section to reflect the loose metrical nature of that genre, so the melodic phrasing should predominate over any sense of meter up to letter C. The initial tonal and metrical ambiguity and the fractured melodic lines gradually meld into conventional tonality and clear statements of the two main themes. Don’t let the poco rit. just before C be too poco. Build a definite sense of tension in anticipation of the Presto section. The Presto section presents the first complete statement of the main theme. I felt a strong, rhythmic treatment should follow the ambiguity of the opening to reflect the joy of the Messiah’s incarnation realized. However, the gravity of the text demands avoidance of frivolity and banality. Thus, I used a combination of the long, flowing lines with a syncopated pulse and echoing rhythms to produce what I hope is a fresh but still reverent treatment of this ancient hymn – one that produces a kaleidoscope of tonal color. Arriving at the third section at letter F, the asymmetrical pulse gradually shifts into a straight 3 pattern. The slower tempo and return of the secondary theme call us to reflect on the import of God now with us. The marking of Let off the gas and coast to the end is a word picture of how the tempo should draw to a close, as would an expert helmsman allow the ship’s momentum to stop just as it taps the dock. One parting moment is provided to savor the woodwinds closing phrase from CANTIQUE de NOEL. Robert Myers S.D.G.
