Folk Harp,Instrumental Duet,Pedal Harp - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1362351 Composed by Traditional French Carol. Arranged by Serena O'Meara. Christian,Christmas,Folk,Medieval,Sacred. 6 pages. O'Meara Music #946810. Published by O'Meara Music (A0.1362351). This easy intermediate piece is good practice for placing cleanly, making an even tone on each string whether you are playing lower on the strings or in the middle, sliding thumbs on 5 note patterns and controlling the tempo. The arrangement begins in the lower range of the harp to establish the ambiance of what the stable might have sounded like. The melody is shared equally between both parts. Each verse is separated by an interlude. On the last verse, the piece ends with a Picardy Third in First Harp. This Medieval French melody has two well-known carol names: Le Sommeil de Lâ??Enfant Jesus (The Sleep of the Child Jesus) and Entre Le Boeuf Et lL'ane Gris (Oxen and Sheep).

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534000). I. INTROIT II. INTERLUDE III. ALLELUIAS Commissioned by the American Guild of Organists,Albuquerque Chapter,For the Region VII AGO Convention, 2009Performance notes:Indian Earth, after a book of poetry by Santa Fe poet Witter Bynner, explores the mystical cultures and resplendent terrain of the AmericanSouthwest. An underlying tenor ofthis collection is the complex relationship between the earth and humanity, and metaphorically the discordbetween native and colonial peoples. Bynner captures the essence of these relationships in this way:It is the earth itself that hems you round against intruders alien to the earth, that brings you heaven under a shadowy tree, curves heaven toyour arm and lets you lie close to its living thorn. The crown is yours, not theirs. You know the one divinity, the only death, the offering ofthe heart to the cruel earth, the love, the consummation. The three movements of the work progress from a quiet melancholy to exuberance, from darkness to light. Frahm makes use of an architecturalapproach to music composition in this piece, as in the building of an adobe wall brick by brick. Self-contained musical structures, often in four barunits, are symmetrically arranged as a technique of musical development. The final movement, 'Alleluias', is based in part on plainchant tone 6 fromthe Graduale Romanum.

String Quartet Cello,Double Bass,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.869690 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz. Score and parts. 40 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #5982647. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869690). Seven Steps To Heaven was composed for the Terezin Chamber Music Foundation/Project STEP Summer Education Collaborative in the Berkshires. The work, scored for seven string instruments †2 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos & contrabass, is in seven sections: four movements with three interludes in between.Moderato, Humble Vale Interlude IFunk ScherzoInterlude IIBossa nova Interlude III Perpetuo motoWhen Mark Ludwig, Director of the Terezin Chamber Music Foundation, told me that Seven Steps would be premiered at the Hancock Shaker Village, I thought it would be most appropriate to use a Shaker tune as a source for this work. The work begins with Humble Vale. Humble Vale is part of the Hancock Hymnal: 1850 compiled by Deborah Rentz Moore. The most obvious element in this beautiful melody is the predominance of the pentatonic mode. The Funk Scherzo movement is a dissertation on pentatonic subsets: major seconds, minor thirds and perfect fourths. The Bossa nova movement, although not pentatonic melodically, is full of chords derived pentatonically: chords stacked in fourths, for example. The last movement, Perpetuo moto, is most definitely pentatonic in its theme: an incessant repeating figure with explosive pentatonic flurries of major seconds, minor thirds and perfect fourths. In between the four movements I have inserted three interludes. Interlude I is an interlocking pair of waltzing pentatonic melodies for two violins. Interlude II is a solemn march on an Fâ€sharp pedal. Interlude III is a quasiâ€canonic descending scale that resolves into a big Gâ€flat major chord. It is my intention that these interludes provide a smooth and slithery connection from one movement into the next. Enjoy!!!The work is dedicated to Miles Davis. His 1963 LP/CD Seven Steps To Heaven is a seminal recording for all music lovers. It made a huge impression on me when I was a teenager in São Paulo, Brazil. I must have listened to it a thousand times. I know every solo by heart. Heaven is Miles’ domain.

Full score.Program note. I have always been fascinated with Wagner's song cycle Wesendonck Lieder for soprano and orchestra. Of course, the story behind Wagner and Mathilde Wesendonck was even more intriguing. If you don't know the story then you should look it up. When Nancy Braithwaite informed me recently that I have written nine works for her since 1997, that was the year I wrote Yo Picasso for her and her chamber group The Arto Ensemble. I told her, well, let's make it ten. She said her current group, the Rietveld Ensemble, consists of clarinet, violin, viola and cello. That sounds good, but I also suggested adding a soprano voice. She said, fine. That was when I thought I should write Nancy a song cycle using the same Wesendonck poems that Wagner did for his orchestral cycle. 1. Der Engel ... Moderato 2a. Interlude I ... Moderato 2b. Stehe still! ... Allegro TRIO I 3. Im Treibhaus ... Largo 4a. Interlude II ... Allegro TRIO II 4b. Schmerzen ... Adagio 5. Traüme ... Allegro.

Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1494144). Full ScoreProgram note:There was a recent NYTimes article about an Eva Hesse show at the Hauser & Wirth in NYC. The title of the article was These Sculptures Changed What Art Could Be, Then Changed Themselves. It described how the five works on display were very different from what they looked like back in the late 1960's when they were exhibited at MOMA, the Guggenheim, Leo Castelli, and other museums. One of them, Expanded Expansion, for example was originally off-white and it is now in an orange-brown amber color. I immediately was fascinated and went on a research spree on her and her work. On Amazon I bought a huge two-volume book of all her paintings and sculptures. And I also bought a book of diaries that she kept from 1955 to 1970. I then decided that I should write a string quartet inspired by her work. The work is in eight movements, each one with a title from her sculptural works. 1. Oomamaboomba, 1965 ... Moderato 2. Tab is available on request: keithterrett@gmail.comA jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.
