Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.535388 Composed by Carson Cooman. Baroque,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 82 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3043975. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535388). I. SinfoniaII. To Mary on the vigil of her AssumptionIII. A Votive SongIV. The Heliotrope-the mind of man turned to GodAscensions (2009) for SATB chorus, traverso, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and organ was commissioned by and isdedicated to the Cornell University Chamber Singers, Holland J. Jancaitis, director. The work is a cantata consisting of an instrumental sinfonia followed by choral settings of three poems by neo-Latin poetJakob Balde, S.J. (1604–68), hailed as the Horace of Germany and considered one of the greatest Latin poets of any era.In the case of the three poems selected, Balde’s vivid imagery and mastery of Latin poetics are put in service of religiousexpression. The poems are filled with countless allusions to the classical poetic tradition; notably, he creates a strongcorrelation between the Virgin Mary of his Christian tradition (Balde was a Jesuit priest) and the goddesses invoked inclassical Latin poetry. Thus, Balde uses the older forms to express something that was, for him, contemporary andrelevant. (An analogue to this use of language is the idea of creating new music to be played on period instruments.)The opening sinfonia begins with an ascending pattern of triads, which returns throughout the work. The forwardmomentum is interrupted several times before the movement settles tonally. The first choral movement employs abouncy momentum to set the celebratory poem on the Virgin’s assumption. The second movement is a prayerful song onthe acceptance of death; it is spare and meditative, unfolding as a series of sectional canons over several drones. The finalmovement returns to the celebratory spirit of the opening; this time, instead of the Virgin’s journey, the poem describesthe speaker’s journey and compares a purposeful sea voyage to a directed life.Balde’s poems are provided in their original Latin and in two translations. One is a free translation in rhyming poeticEnglish created by James J. Mertz, S.J., longtime professor at Loyola University. The other is a newly-created literaltranslation by Edward J. Vodoklys, S.J., Senior Lecturer in Classics at the College of the Holy Cross.Carson P. Cooman, January 2009, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USAPERFORMANCE NOTES: The composer prefers a classically-informed Italianate pronunciation of the Latin(church Latin is acceptable). (It is important that V always be pronounced as V, not as the W soundoften used by classical Latinists.)The work is conceived for a chamber choir, as a larger choir would not balance the timbres of the baroqueinstruments. It is suggested that 16–24 singers be employed (no fewer than 12).As with much early repertoire, dynamic and expressive markings are kept to a minimum. It is expected thatdirector and performers will inflect lines expressively and naturally. The organ part is notated for a small portatiforgan with pull-down pedal (with no independent pedal stops). If played on a larger instrument, this smallerregistration plan should be kept in mind so as to create balance with the instruments and choir.

Xylophone, Percussion Ensemble, Handbell, Orff instruments, one octave Handbells and Boomwhackers, Boomwhacker, handbell choir - Early Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Christian, Sacred, Classroom, Folk, Christmas. Score, Set of Parts. 87 pages. Published by Sharon Wilson
This collection contains 10 Christmas carols arranged for 2-part ensembles using only 8-note instruments. Each song in this collection is notated for handbells on one part and Boomwhackers® on a second part. For each song, there is a combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each individual part. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song.<br> <br> This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, “Chroma-Notes Stick Ons” can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.<br> <br> Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of these songs.<br> <br> Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, these arrangements are playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel.<br> <br> The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included for each song.<br> <br> Other suggestions and uses:<br> * have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers® <br> * form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)<br> * use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church<br> * these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, just to name a few<br> <br> <br> Each of the 10 Christmas Carol arrangements is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples.<br> <br> Titles included in this collection:<br> Angels We Have Heard on High<br> As Lately We Watched<br> Come, All Ye Shepherds<br> Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus<br> The First Noel<br> Here We Come A-Caroling<br> Joy to the World<br> O Come, Little Children<br> O Thou Joyful Day<br> Sing We Now of Christmas

This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.Only filled noteheads (quarter notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided for 6, 8, and 15 players.

Composed by Various. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Christian, Sacred, Folk, Christmas, Children's Music. Score, Set of Parts, Solo Part. 87 pages. Published by Sharon Wilson
This collection contains 10 familiar Christmas carols arranged for a one octave, 13-note chromatic scale Handbell choir with Piano accompaniment. For each song, the Piano provides an introduction then the Handbells play the melody and occasional 2-part harmony. Each song also includes an optional repeat and second ending in case a longer song is desired. For each song, there is a combined score with both instruments (Handbells and Piano) on a grand staff plus two separate scores for the Handbells (one in standard format with black and white notes and the second with color-coded notes). A color-coded note chart is also provided for each song which shows the Handbell notes used as well as the number of times each note is played. The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers. You may want to assign fewer notes to beginners or evenly distribute the bells between all ringers. The color-coded scores are enlarged so the colors are easier to distinguish and all sharps and flats are displayed (shown in the key of C) as reminders for beginning ringers. Also, only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). As noted above, one of the Handbell scores for each song is color-coded for easier note reading for beginning ringers. These separate color-coded scores use the ?Chroma-Notes? Colored Music System.? If you have a set of Handbells with a different color scheme, ?Chroma-Notes Stick Ons? can be purchased and applied so the Handbells match this color scheme. The number of ringers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included for each song and range from 4 to 8 ringers. These familiar Christmas carols are perfect for small groups and especially beginning ringers. Most songs can be performed with as few as 5 people (4 ringers and 1 piano player). The Piano accompaniment is written for an intermediate player. Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets. Each song is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. For each song, a piano accompaniment and/or rehearsal track (MP3 format) is available as a separate purchase. Song titles included in this collection: Angels We Have Heard on High Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella Ding Dong! Merrily on High Joy to the World O Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, O Come, Emmanuel O Thou Joyful Day Simple Gifts The First Noel We Three Kings

Jesus Christ is Risen Today for Brass Quartet with Descant

Horn,Piccolo Trumpet,Trombone,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746869 Composed by Bohemian Hymn. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Baroque,Easter,World. 7 pages. Keith Terrett #4786801. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746869). Arranged for Brass Quartet, Jesus Christ Is Risen Today was first written in Latin titled Surrexit Christus hodie, as a Bohemian hymn in the 14th century by an unknown author on manuscripts written in Munich and Breslau. In Latin, it had eleven verses. It was first translated into English in 1708 by John Baptist Walsh to be included in his Lyra Davidica (Collection of Divine Songs and Hymns). The verses of the hymn were revised in 1749 by John Arnold. Initially the hymn only had three verses translated with just the first verse being a direct translation; in 1740 Charles Wesley (one of the founders of Methodism) added a fourth verse to the hymn as an alternative, which was later adopted into the hymn as part of it. The hymn is also noted for having Alleluia as a refrain after every line. The hymn is set to a piece of music entitled Easter Hymn which was composed in the Lyra Davidica for Jesus Christ Is Risen Today. There was a later version of Easter Hymn composed by William Henry Monk which is also used for Jesus Christ Is Risen Today. Some denominations of Christianity often just use one while some use both. The hymn is sometimes confused with Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, which was written by Wesley. This is because the wording is similar and Christ the Lord Is Risen Today is usually likewise sung to Easter Hymn with Llanfair generally being the most common alternative. For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores: http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terret http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrett Need an anthem fast? Bells,Boomwhackers,Glockenspiel,Handbell,Handchime,Orff Instrument,Voice,Xylophone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565787 By Sharon Wilson. By Benjamin R. Hanby. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Christmas,Easter,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred. 9 pages. Sharon Wilson #6137887. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565787). This sheet music is notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note and chord reference chart is also provided. This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, this arrangement is playable by any 13-note, C to C chromatic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match). This arrangement is one of the 10 songs in the collection Ten Christmas Carols for 13-note Bells and Boomwhackers.Other suggestions and uses: * have both parts played by bells or both parts played using only Boomwhackers®   * form a choir using multiple sets of bells and/or Boomwhackers® (this would amplify the sound and allow more people to participate)* use as part of the music education for children at school, home, or church* these colorful, inexpensive instruments can be enjoyed by all ages and add a fun, unique element to activities and programs: senior centers, family reunions, church retreats, home school groups, children's ministriesBoomwhackers® is a registered trademark of Rhythm Band Instrument, LLC.
