The lyrics tell of the singer's troubled past with his love, Irene, and express his sadness and frustration. Several verses refer explicitly to suicidal fantasies, most famously in the line sometimes I take a great notion to jump in the river and drown, Irene remained a staple of Lead Belly's performances throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In 2002, Lead Belly's Library of Congress recording received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

Published by Noah & Clyde (A0.922402). I'm Always Chasing Rainbows is a popular Vaudeville song. The music is credited to Harry Carroll, but the melody is adapted from Fantaisie-Impromptu by Frédéric Chopin. The lyrics were written by Joseph McCarthy, and the song was published in 1917. It was introduced in the Broadwayshow Oh, Look! which opened in March 1918.[1] The song was sung in the show by the Dolly Sisters.[1] Judy Garland sang it in the 1941 film Ziegfeld Girl. It was subsequently sung by Jack Oakie in the 1944 film The Merry Monahans and was again featured in the 1945 film The Dolly Sisters (1945 in film), where it was sung by John Payne.[1] It was also included for part of the run (and in the cast album) of the 1973 revival of Irene.The song is a true popular standard, recorded by many artists over the years.

Although the poem was written in the Middle Ages, it resonates with a timeless universality, allowing for a deep connection with the contemporary audience. Its metaphor of the sea as a reflection of human emotions – that come and go like the waves of the sea – transcends eras, resonating with the instability and hope that characterize the human experience.By using it as lyrics for a sort of contemporary habanera, I saw the possibility of merging the nostalgia of the past with the artistic expression of the present, creating a bridge between different historical moments through music and poetry. ____________________________________________________________________Obra encargo para el estreno a cargo de la mezzosoprano Sandra Ferrández y la pianista Irene Alfageme en el Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) el 1 de abril de 2024. La pieza se utiliza el poema anónimo del siglo XV 'Van y Vienen'. Aunque fue escrito en la Edad Media, resuena con una universalidad atemporal, permitiendo una profunda conexión en la era actual. Su metáfora del mar como reflejo de las emociones humanas – que van y vienen como las olas del mar – trasciende épocas, resonando con la inestabilidad y la esperanza que caracterizan la experiencia humana. Al utilizarlo como letra para una especie de habanera contemporánea, vi la posibilidad de fusionar la nostalgia del pasado con la expresión artística del presente, creando un puente entre diferentes momentos históricos a través de la música y la poesía.

The Akheloides (Acheloides) were Naiad-nymphs of the river Akheloos (Achelous) in Aitolia (central Greece).Three of their number, the Seirenes (Sirens), were close companions of the goddess Persephone. When their mistress was abducted by Haides they were given the bodies of birds to assist in the search for the goddess. Ma cos'è? Ma dov'è? C'era già ? o è apparsa all'improvviso dentro me forse là troverò gente che mi somiglia almeno un po'.... Si chiama Fandalism siamo su Fandalism qui troverai gli artisti più simpatici non siam famosi ma abbiamo un'anima solo ascoltandoci si capirà Qui non c'è gara e non si vince nulla ma ci si guadagna in cuore e solidarietà Youtube non ti amo più Beat 100 neanche tu sai darmi il brivido che c'è quaggiù Grandi amicizie qui che si cementano distanze chilometriche si annullano storie d'amore che sbocciando ispirano perciò ho deciso che mi fermo qua C'è chi fa jazz o musica elettronica chi suona il basso o la chitarra elettrica c'è chi è geniale ma non se ne accorgerà perchè qui a Fandalism c'è l'umiltà Li adoro tutti e tutti me li abbraccerei io coccolata come non son stata mai come un folletto neli mio bosco magico vole tra note e generosità Rinnoverò l'incanto fermerò il mio tempo e ascolterò il tuo canto e ciò che mi dirai Ti voglio al mio fianco e io suonerò per te soltanto ed asciugherai tu il mio pianto e se sarò triste lo capirai Mentre sfioro tanta gente (senza toccarla mai) che è indifferente (ma tu non lo sei) corro nel niente con gli accordi miei e questa mente che non riposa mai ma tu puoi sentire quello che ho dentro la presenza tua forse può dare un senso a tutto ciò La mia diversità qui è la normalità sono accettata qui con la mia musica un cantastorie io fuori dal tempo mio vivo sospesa tra sogno e realtà Rimango attonita per il talento altrui mi sento piccola, talmente inutile poi mi incoraggiano torno a sorridere perchè qui a Fandalism c'è umanità E ci vogliamo bene e si collabora qui siamo al centro esatto della musica Doc m'incorona rosa in questo regno e poi sono felice Because the Doc says!
