Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.965300 Composed by Boyd E. Gibson. Arranged by Apex Music Company. Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 7 pages. Boyd Eugene Gibson #5319441. Published by Boyd Eugene Gibson (A0.965300). This African American spiritual uses the image of asking Jesus to come so close to us when we pray that he is pictured as laying his head in our window to hear us pray. This arrangement builds on this through the use of canons that are not exactly identical to show the personal nature of our prayers and relationship. It also employs text from Psalm 86:1-3 which implores God to bow down to hear our prayer. The Psalm setting is in the style of chant and organum, which adds a truly emotional element to the music.

Small Ensemble Drum Set,Guitar,Piano Accompaniment,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.893701 Composed by KJ Murdock. Blues,Christian,Gospel,R & B,Traditional. Score and parts. 3 pages. Kristopher James Murdock #3039089. Published by Kristopher James Murdock (A0.893701). Christian music ministers and bands! Are you worried that people will focus too much on the hype and excitement, instead of on Jesus? Are you looking for a way to express your concerns that will get them to listen? The old-time rock style of Has Jesus Left the Building is meant as an ice breaker to broach this difficult subject and lead up to a more sobering setting, such as a sermon or a call to prayer dealing with the song's tough but important message: that no matter how we get with it to Christian music, we'll eventually lose the glory of God if we don't focus our worship and submission on Him.Appropriate as a special in a contemporary church service.Suggested improvisatory style: 1950s R&B/rock 'n' roll. For more information, contact revelation.and.restoration@gmail.com.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011062 Composed by Pat Castle. Arranged by Celebration Music. A Cappella,Christian,Contemporary,Easter. Octavo. 6 pages. Celebration Music #3436161. Published by Celebration Music (A0.1011062). The thematic melodic material for this a cappella setting is taken from the 11th century chant Dominus Jesus found in the Liber Usualis. The text is very similar to that used by many Christian churches in Maundy Thursday services. (For instance: pages 274 and 275 of the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer.) The piece has also been used successfully as a communion anthem. Harmonically the setting is in a contemporary style with some contrapuntal application. Reduction for accompaniment only is included. Latin text used in this setting: Dominus Jesus postquam coenavit cum discipulis suis lavit pedes eorum, et ait illis: Scitis quid fecerim vobis, ego Dominus, et magister? Exemplum dedi vobis, ut et vos ita faciatis Translation: Jesus the Lord, after He had supped with His disciples, washed their feet, and said to them: Know you what I, your Lord and Master, have done to you? I gave you an example, that you also may do likewise.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035265 Composed by Burton Goldstein. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 24 pages. Burton Goldstein Music #5001051. Published by Burton Goldstein Music (A0.1035265). In setting the Lord's Prayer to music, I looked up what Jesus said to his followers about how the Prayer should be said. In the Cambridge translation of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says: When thou prayest enter into thy closet...pray to thy Father which is in secret. Do not send a trumpet before thee.... Do not pray ostentatiously with vain repetition. I was surprised at this image of the Lord’s Prayer; perhaps I had Handel's Messiah and sound the trumpets and a huge congregation in the back of my mind. I became intrigued with the image of a man facing his God secretly, in an absolutely solitary and personal way.In this piece, the style of singing should be closely related to this style of praying. The performance should emphasize the quiet, meditative quality of the piece. The harmonic language I made for this piece is meant to convey a mysterious, mystical feeling, a feeling of intense inward concentration, in part conveyed by the close spacing of the chords at the beginning and the single, common tone that runs through these chords. This concentration leads to a sense of transcendence, in part created by the opening up of the close spacing especially beginning at m.26 and culminating in the floating section at m.38.I did not repeat any of the text, except the final Amen.

Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for Trombone & Piano

Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550934 Composed by J. S. Bach - Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #4888761. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550934). This arrangement features the controversial Schwencke measure (ms. 27) that was originally introduced in 1783 by Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance. Duration with repeat - 4:50. Score: 6 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as a court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.

Score and individual part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3491315. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552852). Schwencke There are two popular versions of the Bach-Gounod Ave Maria to consider. Firstly, we have the version that exactly follows the harmonic scheme set forth by J. S. Bach in his Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Secondly, we have the arrangement introduced by the Choirmaster Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke in 1783 that introduces a controversial added measure designed to intensify the harmony in measure 27. Both versions employ the melody that Charles Gounod provided as an overlay to the Bach harmony. In either case, the convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide options for extended performance. The duration with the repeat runs about 4:50. This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550917 Composed by J. S. Bach - Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #4888281. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550917). This arrangement features the controversial Schwencke measure (ms. 27) that was originally introduced in 1783 by Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance. Duration with repeat - 4:50. Score: 7 pages.

Jmsgu3 #3490119. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549361). This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for English Horn & Piano, S0.661819. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance with minimal page turns for the accompanist. The duration with repeat is about 4:50. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer. Â
