Practice Tips: In order to play this piece, you must be able to play octave chords with multiple notes and be able to fluidly switch hand positions. Keep in mind that an F-flat is an E, an E double-flat is a D, and a B double-flat is an A. The third beat of measure 22, then, is a third: A-C. The right hand ostinato (repeating pattern) will get annoying if you play the B-flats too loudly. Instead, voice the lower notes whenever the pattern appears. The left hand has the melody in the second two lines of the piece. Make sure to voice the top of all of the chords. When the right hand enters with the same melody, it also continues some of the opening ostinato – make sure that the theme is clearly heard. Don't get too loud in measure 15. Remember that the loudest section is still to come! There are a lot of notes in measures 21-26. If you're not careful, it will sound muddy and dull. Give the most attention to the top note of the right hand and the bottom note of the left hand – this will help make your sound more clear. If you are having problems with some of the jumps (such as the left hand in measure 23), make sure you have a good fingering and then drill it multiple times. Start at a very slow metronome speed and gradually move up by 5 BPM until it gets too hard. If you do this day after day, you should eventually be able to play it! If this piece is too difficult, there exists an alternate version in C major. Most of the hard jumps have been removed. The end is also slightly different and should be easier to voice.

If you are able to play it, make sure to shape it independently of the right hand melody, which has a mostly constant volume level in the A section (measures 1-16). Note that in measure 16, the left hand pattern changes. Don't feel as though you must count from measure 34 to the end. You can use a lack of pulse to make your audience feel more emotionally attached to your playing. Just make sure that the moving parts of the main theme are still recognizable.

Note, for instance, that measures 4 and 8 have no doubled notes: this means that none of those notes are part of the main theme. However, still be sure to shape them!

Practice Tips: The chord in measure 10 could be challenging to reach for some players. If this is the case, I suggest playing both of the lowest two notes with only the thumb. Don't re-pedal at all in measure 21! This is the climax of the piece and needs to be very loud. However, if you play the last three notes of the left hand too loudly, it will be quite blurry. Play the first left-hand octave very strongly, but pull back for the other notes while still maintaining your right hand volume.

These are called duplets. They are similar to triplets, but instead of using three notes in place of two, they use two notes in place of three. If this confuses you, practice measures 9-12 by counting sixteenth notes. Note that the dotted quarter note in measure 10 will require 6 sixteenths, whereas both of the duple notes will require three.

Even if you can reach an octave well, beats 1-2 of measure 15 could prove challenging because of the jump to a new hand position. If you're having problems with this, try leaving out the bottom F. You will probably be able to play this song a lot better if you spend time beforehand figuring out which fingerings you want to use for eighth-note passages.

Practice Tips: This notation may look confusing, but it's easy to get used to! Measures 1-14 are made up of a constant eighth-note rhythm that alternates between both hands. Chords in the top staff should be played by the right hand, and chords in the bottom staff should be played by the left hand. The melody alternates between the hands. In measures 1-6, bring out the bottom note of the left hand. In measures 7-15, voice the top note of the right hand. The left hand's line in measures 17 and 21 should be treated as a response to the right hand. Pedal both measures in their entireties; however, be careful not to play the first note in either measure too loud, or else it will not sound nice. Also notice the cross-staff slurs in measures 19 and 20: the shape of the inner melody will be easier to hear if you are able to clearly voice the first A. If your hand is too small to reach the 9th in measure 15, you can substitute an A for the bottom note, or you can take a bit of extra time and play the first G with your left hand.

If you look at the left hand, you should be able to see that the top notes form a chromatic scale from Ab, and that the bottom notes form a chromatic scale from Gb. If you can remember this, you shouldn't have to worry about figuring out each accidental.The last chord in the right hand might look hard, but it is really just a B major triad (B, D#, and F#) with an added F. If you're wondering why the chord sounds so bad, try and relate the ending to the title.

Practice Tips: In order to play this piece, you must be able to play repeated notes quickly and be able to play with your hands on top of each other. The right and left hands overlap intentionally. Measures 3, 16, and other similar passages require only the thumb of the right hand to be underneath the left hand: this should lead to the thumbs of both hands being close to interlocking. Measure 7 and other similar passages, however, are easier if you place the left hand below the right hand. Perhaps the hardest part of the piece is measure 26. Throughout the piece, short staccatos are essential to clearly hearing the repeated notes between the hands. In this particular measure, you must worry about both the repeated Fs and the repeated B-flats. I suggest placing your right hand underneath your left and using the fingering 2-3-4 to make the space between the hands a little less crowded.

Practice Tips: The left hand has the melody in the second two lines of the piece. Make sure to voice the top of all of the chords. When the right hand enters with the same melody, it also continues some of the opening ostinato – make sure that the theme is clearly heard. Don't get too loud in measure 15. Remember that the loudest section is still to come! This is an alternate version of the composition Imagining Quietly. It is in C major and most of the hard jumps have been removed. The end is also slightly different and should be easier to voice. In this version, note that the third beat of measure 22 is a third: Eb-Gb (F#)

Here is a beautiful, gently flowing arrangement for an instrumental trio (CELLO and VIOLIN duet with PIANO accompaniment). The tune is the traditional American melody PLEADING SAVIOR from Joshua Leavitt's Christian Lyre. Though this song is known by many titles, this title, Rainbow of His Love, corresponds to the lyrics about the rainbow by Flora Kirkland (lyrics sheet included for reference).  The VIOLIN carries the melody for the first verse while the CELLO adds harmony. For the second time through the song (after a short piano interlude), the CELLO carries the melody while the VIOLIN alternates between a descant and harmony. This is a fairly easy and straight-forward arrangement for both instruments and accompanist. The range for each instrument is as follows: VIOLIN – F4 to A5; CELLO – A2 to D4. For both the VIOLIN and CELLO, all notes are playable in the first position making this piece an excellent choice for early intermediate string players. Duration 3:00.
