Key: D major.Das Concertino classico für Violine und Klavier oder Streicher von Bertold Hummel entstand im Sommer 1999 als sein Enkelkind Fabian auf der Geige gerade die erste Lage beherrschte. Die Idee war, beginnenden GeigerInnen ein kleines Violinkonzert zur Verfügung zu stellen, um die wenigen technischen Fertigkeiten musizierender Weise zu erproben. Je nach Gelegenheit kann es mit einem begleitenden Klavier, einem Streichquartett oder zusammen mit dem Schulorchester aufgeführt werden. Der Titel verrät schon, dass sich Hummel an Form und Tonsprache des klassischen Solokonzertes orientiert. In drei Sätzen werden einfache, volkstümlich anmutende Themen vorgestellt und variiert. Eine größere Kadenz im Allegro wird von Hummel - je nach Charakter des geigenden Kindes - nur ad libitum angeboten. Die kurze überleitende Kadenz im Presto muss dagegen gespielt werden. Mit dem wehmütigen Finnischen Volkslied, das in der Elegie variiert wird, überbrückte das Ehepaar Hummel gerne räumliche Entfernungen.

German • English • French.Even though Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), admittedly, was no fan of the flute, he wrote unforgettable music for this instrument 'that I can't stand': two concertos, a double concerto with harp, the original version of the Wind Concertante and the four flute quartets. Commissioned by the Dutch physician and amateur musician Ferdinand Dejean, Mozart wrote his two solo concertos in 1777/78 during a stay in Mannheim. As the middle movement of the Concerto in G major KV 313 supposedly was too difficult for the client – with regard to the playing technique and/or music – the composer wrote an alternative version, 'Andante' KV 315 (285e). This nice individual movement is now presented in a carefully edited new edition, with a cadenza of the editor – a serenade-like setting that offers the soloist many possibilities for cantabile playing. Bei der Literatur für diese Besetzung denkt man eher an wirkungsvolle Brillanz als an Gedankentiefe, Kontrapunktik oder expressive Melodik. Doch gerade in der schöpferischen Auseinandersetzung mit Brahms’scher Musik ergab sich für den Komponisten Harald Feller die Möglichkeit, das Ausdrucksspektrum für diese Besetzung zu erweitern und der Trompete auch eine lyrische Seite abzugewinnen. Das thematische Material bildet das Thema der frühen Orgelfuge in as-Moll, der der junge Komponist bereits seine ganze kontrapunktische Meisterschaft zeigt. Die vorliegende „Fanstasie ist mit den Elementen dieses Themas, deren Umkehrung, Vergrößerung und Diminuition weitgehend sehr dicht kontrapunktisch gearbeitet. Es finden sich aber auch für jedes der beiden Instrumente eine kurze Kadenz mit der Möglichkeit einer gewissen Virtuosität und Freiheit. Key: G major.Improvised and also composed solo cadenzas, normally occuring towards the end of a bravura aria or an instrumental concerto movement, have existed since the late 16th century. They provide the performer with an opportunity for self-presentation in the form of a free style of playing or singing, based on themes and motifs from previous sections of the movement. Solo cadenzas are for the most part introduced by a six-four chord held by the orchestra; the soloist begins a protracting interpolation in free stlye, subsequently culminating on the dominant chord, usually with a trill. Whereas originally composers left solo cadenzas to be freely improvised, from the middle of the 19th century onwards they were frequently specifically written out. The increasing abuse of cadenzas as a mere display of free virtuosity, ignoring the style and impetus of the composition, played a substantial factor in this development. Thus Beethoven gives the soloist no opportunity whatsoever for free improvisation in his 5th piano concerto in which the cadenza becomes an integral, obligatory component of the complete work. In this unique series Schott Music presents cadenzas created for well-known instrumental concertos from the Classical and Romantic periods by major composers and soloists of our time. Nino Rota dedicated the Kadenzen zum Klavierkonzert Nr. 4 in G-Dur (Cadenzas of the Concerto No. 4 for Piano and Orchestra in G major) Hob. XVIII:4 by Joseph Haydn to Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (1920-1995), who recorded them for the label EMI.

Anmerkung der Komponistin Das Vaterunser (Global Version) ist eine zeitgenössische Fassung des Vaterunsers, in der pentatonische Tonleitern und Kombinationen aus traditionellen und nicht-traditionellen Harmonien und Rhythmen verwendet werden. Das Gebet selbst ist ein Plädoyer dafür, dass Gottes Wille in jedem von uns getan wird. Infolgedessen sollte während der gesamten Arbeit eine aufrichtige und ernsthafte Stimmung im Vordergrund stehen. Die meisten Christen kennen das Gebet auswendig in ihrer eigenen Sprache und es wird heute von jeder christlichen Tradition verwendet. Ich habe die globale Version für drei verschiedene Sprachen geschrieben: Englisch, Deutsch und Koreanisch. Diese Hymne ist im Stil des Responsorial-Gesangs gehalten: Ein Solist singt eine Linie, der der Chor oder die Klavierbegleitung folgen. Jede Passage wird auf ihre eigene Weise entwickelt, aber die übliche Technik, die in dieser Arbeit verwendet wird, ist die systematische Verwendung von Wiederholungen, die dem Vorhandenen neue Texturschichten hinzufügen (z. B. mm.11–18 und mm. 19–33). Diese Technik beginnt mit einer einfachen Figur, die einige Male mit leichten Abweichungen wiederholt wird. Die verwendeten Rhythmen in mm. 27–31 sind eine Variation von Gutgeori jang dan, einem der traditionellen koreanischen Rhythmen, die diese globale Version einzigartig machen. German.Die Motette Gegrüßet seist du, Maria komponierte Bertold Hummel am 20. Mai 1993 und widmete sie dem Gedenken seiner tief gläubigen Schwester Erika. Mein Vater, der im selben Jahr auch das Würzburger Brucknerfest mitbegründete, verstand diese Motette bewusst auch als Gruß an Anton Bruckner, dessen berühmtes 7-stimmiges Ave Maria er anklingen lässt: Im ersten Abschnitt wählten beide Komponisten die Gegenüberstellung von Ober- und Unterstimmen, und auf den Namen Jesus zitiert Bertold Hummel die brucknersche Schlusskadenz vor dem Amen. Im Jahr 1997 erstellte er nach dieser Vorlage eine lateinische Version. (C 53543)Der Text dieses sogenannten Englischen Grußes basiert auf den Bibelstellen des Lukas-Evangeliums (Lk 1, 28b, 42) die sich im Laufe der Zeit um Zusätze wie Jesus (14. Jh.) und die Anrufung Mariens (16. Jh.) erweiterten. Im Jahr 1568 erhielt er durch die Aufnahme in das Brevier Pius' V. offiziellen Gebetscharakter. Die hier vertonte deutsche Übersetzung entspricht der seit 1968 gebräuchlichen ökumenischen Fassung. Martin Hummel 2009.
