It is written at an elementary level and uses a whole-tone scale with white keys in the left hand and black keys in the right hand. The piece explores three octaves of the keyboard with crossovers in both hands. The smallest note value is a quarter note, and this piece is written in triple meter. The pedal is engaged at the beginning and stays down until the last chord. Published by Greg Woodward (A0.1458777). Tango for Glenn is a tribute to Glenn Gould, whose particular way of playing Bach on piano was so influential in its day. However, it's very much a joyful romp through a range of styles.The main theme is in 5/4 and it moves through a range of - mostly - irregular time-signatures, but uses a harmonic and melodic vocabluary strongly influenced by Bach, with lashings of some more jazzy language. There is a brief (two beat long) quote of Paul McCartney's song Blackbird used as thematic material in the second episode, the guitar part of which was also based on a piece by Bach.
