Small Ensemble Clarinet,Oboe,Piano,Voice - Level 2 - SKU: A0.980887 Composed by Melanie Mitrano. Arranged by Ivy Cottage Press. Contemporary,Folk,Standards,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Ivy Cottage Press #3622783. Published by Ivy Cottage Press (A0.980887). THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER is based on the traditional Irish folksong, arranged by Melanie Mitrano for voice, Bb clarinet or oboe, and piano. The score, including cover and parts, is 9 pages long, published by Ivy Cottage Press (ASCAP). Two accompanying recordings are also available here for download: one with all three parts to assist in learning the piece (The Last Rose of Summer Study Recording), and one without the vocal line for class and individual practice (The Last Rose of Summer Practice Track). This piece is part of the Primary Studies in Vocal Chamber Music collection, the goal of which is to provide an entree into the world of collaborative music-making for the solo singer that is accessible to all levels and voice types. The arrangements are suitable for use in either a private vocal studio or group voice class. The vocal range (medium voice) is practical for all, deliberately within comfortable limits for any voice type, male or female. The piano part is specifically designed to be feasible for student or teacher accompanists, and includes chord symbols for those less adept pianists who wish to improvise or alter the accompaniment as needed. While the instrumental part is more elaborate, it is still suitable for either music students or professionals. All scores are printed in concert key for the instructor’s ease. Harp - SKU: A0.912237 Composed by Thomas Moore, Robert Burns. Arranged by Harpoline. Celtic,Romantic Period. Score. 3 pages. Harpoline #6266445. Published by Harpoline (A0.912237). The last rose of summer was written by Thomas Moore to an existing Irish melody. O my love is like a red, red rose was written by Robert Burns to an existing Scottish melody. These two poets used existing melodies to add their own poetry and turn it into a song. Both songs are well known in the Celtic traditions and also fit well together. I used to play them in the key of C years ago, but on revisiting my old arrangements I preferred the key of F. There are no lever changes but there are plenty of full rolled chords. So an intermediate level of playing is required.I have added dynamics but they can be changed if you like. Both songs should not be played too fast. Metronome speeds are an indication only. Play with feeling!

Piano,Tuba - Level 1 - SKU: A0.1494269 Composed by Thomas Moore. Arranged by Alex Nunes Rodrigues. Folk. Score and part. 3 pages. Alex Rodrigues #1070873. Published by Alex Rodrigues (A0.1494269). The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Moore, regarded as Ireland’s national poet, was inspired by an 'Old Blush' rose while staying at Jenkinstown Castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The poem was published as part of his Irish Melodies collection between 1807 and 1834 and later set to music by fellow Irishman John Stevenson. The song gained widespread popularity and was incorporated into the opera Martha by the German composer Friedrich von Flotow, which premiered in 1847 in Vienna. This sheet music has been adapted for solo instrument, preserving the original melody by Moore and Stevenson in its essence. The simplicity of the arrangement allows the musician to highlight the purity of the melody, making it easier to perform while maintaining the piece's emotional character. This version is designed to be accessible for beginner to intermediate musicians, enabling an authentic interpretation that respects the traditional nuances of the work. The Last Rose of Summer captures the essence of melancholy and the passage of time—universal themes reflected in the farewell to the last vestige of a vibrant summer. The melody, paired with Moore’s poetry, evokes a profound sense of loss and longing, with the solitary rose serving as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life and the seasons. The simplicity and beauty of this piece have made it a classic, perpetuating Irish tradition and touching the hearts of listeners worldwide.
