Written in 1940, Besame Mucho or "Kiss me a lot", was written by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez. This arrangement takes much of it's inspiration from her original recording infusing the quartet with the sensual latin rhythms and harmonies.

"Tennessee Whiskey" was originally written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove in 1981. It has since been recorded by several notable country artists, but the most commercially successful of these was Chris Stapleton, whose version shot to the top of the charts and was certified platinum after he performed it with Justin Timberlake at the Country Music Association awards. This Cellobat arrangement for string quartetwas originally commissioned for a wedding ceremony, and it maintains the beautiful melodic lines, lush harmonic layers, passionate dynamic changes, and steady groove of the original. This sweet and slow country love song describes how love can lift you out of a dark place in your life, so of course it will be perfect not just for weddings, but for receptions, proposals, cocktail hour, parties, and any other occasion you want your audience to start slow-dancing! Rated advanced-intermediate for some complex, almost improvisational-sounding rhythms in the violin parts; the viola and cello parts are more of an early-intermediate level.

?Lovely? by Billie Eilish and Khalid was released in April 2018. Written and produced by Finneas O?Connel, brother of Billie Eilish, it was used as the soundtrack to Season Two of ?13 Reasons Why? - a drama on Netflix. The song went Platinum in New Zealand and USA, and reached the top five in the New Zealand and Australian Charts.

I think that it lends itself beautifully to a String Quartet Arrangement and very much enjoyed working on it. At the moment I have only a computer version of the Score but will be recording it with Capriccio Quartet once lockdown restrictions are at an end.

Feel free to change the bowing, especially in the eight-quaver accompaniment bars. These do need to be heard, but very much as a background texture. I envisaged the song as played with a great deal of delicacy and subtlety, though this is hard to achieve with Sibelius software. In this arrangement the cello has less to do than usual, but there are some sudden shifts of position and that deep presence is vital to the overall effectiveness of the song. The double stopping usually includes one open string.

I experimented for a long time with different octaves for the violin to play at Letters C and E. You may like to change the score at this point if it feels easier, or just prefer one or the other. I opted for the high octave at times because the unison with the viola two octaves below seemed to have a lot of emotional power. However one octave apart also sounds good so younger players could easily tackle this song.

"Rather Be" was released as a single from Clean Bandit's first studio album in 2014, and it quickly became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard charts in 12 countries and selling enough copies to get certified triple platinum. So you really can't go wrong having this one in your gig books! This Cellobat arrangement for string quartet brings to life the bouncy EDM beat, staccato string figures, soaring melodies, and lush harmonies of the original song for a fun and energetic chart that's just as much fun to play as it is to listen to! Originally commissioned for a wedding recessional, this chart will also be perfect for receptions, cocktail hour, pop concerts, parties, or any other occasion that you need to get your audience dancing. Rated advanced for some complicated rhythms throughout that go by pretty fast -- I definitely recommend running through this one or getting familiar with the original before performing.

Probably the best known Mexican song who people do not realize is Mexican at all. Written back in the early 40's, countless versions are swarming about the internet. None, however, does justice to this heartbreaking bolero about temptation and sin, composed by a never-then-kissed Consuelo Velázquez. This version, made by an authentic fiery Mexican, with strike your audience with so much Latino flavor they will lose control of their hips. This item includes a full score and a set of parts. "Tequila" is a 1958 Latin-flavored rock and roll instrumental written by Daniel Flores (a.k.a. Chuck Rio) and recorded by the Champs. "Tequila" became a #1 hit on both the pop and RandB charts at the time of its release and continues to be strongly referenced in pop culture to this day.
