Instrumental Duet,Piano Bass Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.760450 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Raymond Fenech. Baroque,Easter,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 25 pages. Raymond Fenech #3692659. Published by Raymond Fenech (A0.760450). Armida al campo d'Egitto is an opera in three acts by Antonio Vivaldi to a libretto by Giovanni Palazzo. It was first performed during the Carnival season of 1718 at the Teatro San Moisè in Venice. Unlike the more than 50 operas based on the romance of Rinaldo and Armida, Vivaldi's version starts during previous events before the war against the Crusaders. Armida was revived for the Carnival season of 1738, with much of the music rewritten, and arias by Leonardo Leo added. Act II of the original version of the opera is now lost. The Level is Early Advance and the duration is approximately 4.13 minutes. It could be played in any type of recital/concert.

Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549452 Composed by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #3497185. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549452). Score: 10 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25. Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. School Years First of all, Sullivan attended music school at the Royal Academy of Music. Because Sullivan was so talented, the Academy awarded him the Mendelssohn Scholarship for two years in a row. He, therefore, studied with John Goss, who studied with Thomas Atwood, who in turn studied with Mozart. Sullivan similarly studied the piano at the Academy with Arthur O’Leary. Study Abroad During his first year, he also earned money by singing solos in the Chapel Royal. At the end of his second year, the Academy consequently continued his scholarship and sent him to study at the Leipzig Conservatoire. He certainly studied composition, and likewise counterpoint and piano. Hence, during his final year in Leipzig, Sullivan finally completed his graduation composition project: Incidental Music for Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Association with Gilbert It seems like Sullivan built the bulk of his composing career largely in the 1860s. As a result, he became famous for his incidental music for the Tempest and his Irish Symphony. He, therefore, began collaborating with the poet W. S. Gilbert in the 1870s. Rather than focus on serious opera, Gilbert and Sullivan, in contrast, concentrated on comic opera such as H. M. S. Pinafore, the Pirates of Penzance, and the Mikado. Therefore, certainly as a result of his education and experience, Sullivan composed a total of 24 operas, 11 symphonic works, 10 choral pieces. Even more, he wrote a large number of noteworthy hymns such as Onward Christian Soldiers. Lost Chord The general style of his music is maybe similar to Mendelssohn, Schumann, and perhaps Liszt. It seems like Sullivan was fond of writing distinct melodies for each character in his operettas. His melodies combine together as the characters did. Furthermore, he was a master orchestrator, and therefore played the flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone fluently. The Lost Chord Sullivan wrote his most noteworthy song the Lost Chord in 1877. As a result, it was a great success and was certainly performed all over the world by a variety of singers such as Enrico Caruso. Because Sullivan was the most famous composer in England, the Lost Chord became the most famous of all British or American songs of the 1870s and 1890s. Consequently, in 1888 Thomas Edison recorded The Lost Chord for the phonograph. It was one of the first songs ever recorded. Furthermore, Queen Victoria knighted Sullivan in 1883.  Â

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1134460 Composed by alan Edgar and John Milton. 20th Century,Chamber,Christian,Religious. 30 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #734553. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1134460). EVE’S PARADISE LOST Soprano (C up to G#), with string quartet. Vocal score included. Also available with reed quartet: oboes, clarinet, bassoon. Paradise Lost by The English poet John Milton is an epic occupying twelve books. It retells the tale of the Fall of Mankind – the moment when Adam and Eve were enticed by Satan to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, and as a result were banished from the Garden of Eden. Milton gives far more detail than Genesis. The song presents the story from Eve’s point of view. I edited the passages for scansion and to suit a modern ear, and ended up with lyrics that fall into three sections: Eve's feelings of shame and guilt, her overhearing the sentence, and her realisation of what she will lose. Octatonic and pentatonic modes. Many quartals. Intermediate. 6 minutes.

Woodwind Ensemble Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.934462 Composed by Beethoven Ludvig van. Arranged by Danilo Russo. Classical. 9 pages. Danilo Russo #3249571. Published by Danilo Russo (A0.934462). The three Duos originally for Clarinet and Bassoon WoO 27 stylistically belong to Beethoven’s earliest creative period. Due to their lively character, the skilful play with timbre, and the fact that they are not very technically demanding, they have always numbered among the wind chamber music showpieces and are also popular works for pupils and students. The sole source for the musical text is a printed edition which was only published after Beethoven’s death – presumably a reprint of lost Parisian editions. The original manuscripts also no longer exist.

Clarinet, String Quartet - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 21st Century, 20th Century, Romantic Period, Classical Period, Baroque Period. Score. With Allegro III. 28 pages. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee
Program note.<br> Clarinet Quintet, opus 155 is the fourth work I have written for Nancy Braithwaite. The first one was written on the occasion of her sister’s wedding in Vermont. Nancy premiered the solo clarinet piece “Trinca di Chôro” during the wedding ceremony. The second work was “Yo Picasso” (2007) for clarinet, viola, cello and piano. The work was tailor-made for the Arto Ensemble which consisted of two married couples: Oane (piano) and Nancy (clarinet), and Prunella (viola) and Guus (cello). The third work was “Octet in D, opus 144” (2012) scored for clarinet, horn, bassoon, string quartet and double bass. Nancy and her Dutch colleagues premiered the work in a program with the Schubert Octet in Bunnik, a small village west of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Many great composers have tackled the clarinet quintet, most notable Mozart and Brahms.<br> My Quintet is somewhat different in that there are a lot of jazz elements and something new that I have not tackled before: polymeter.<br> <br> Clarinet Quintet, opus 155 is in seven movements.<br> <br> I. Largo<br> II. Allegro<br> III. Interlude 1 … Presto<br> IV. Adagio<br> V. Reprise … a bit faster than before!<br> VI. Interlude 2 … Adagio<br> VII. Allegro con moto<br> <br> The work begins with a clarinet meditation over pianissimo string chords. The music is very static … not unlike the sacred music of Arvo Pärt. This is followed by an allegro that is in 12/8 featuring a pizzicato jazzy bass figure played by the cello. The third movement is my experiment in polymeter. The ostinato pattern is grouped in a metrical scheme of 4, 3, 4 and 5; but the octave melody in the clarinet and first violin unfolds in standard duple meter of 4. The middle fourth movement is an adagio. This is an example of what I love about music, a soaring melody above slow haunting chords. A reprise of the jazzy Interlude 1 comes next, but in a slightly different guise with new elements, both melodically and harmonically.Interlude 2 is reminiscent of the meditative music of the first movement, but again it is quite different in mood and atmosphere. The finale is another experiment in polymeter. At first the metrical scheme is in a pattern of 4, 3, 4, 3, 2, 3 and 2. But eventually the meters get all scrambled up. Have fun trying to count. You’ll get lost! Above the “oom-pah oom-pah” accompaniment, the clarinet soars like a flying bird … diving, hovering, dipping and swooping!!!<br> <br> ENJOY!!!<br> <br> Audio link. The general style of his music is maybe similar to Mendelssohn, Schumann, and perhaps Liszt. Â

Grant Horsley #990797. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1408218). As the name suggests meaning lost in one's thoughts This Reverie is a fusion of two styles-classical and film music. It is in concert C major and has a lydian influence throughout in the harmonies. The piece loosely touches on multiple keys with lots of quavers movement to keep the idea of flowing thoughts, its ending is surprisingly on the chord of the 4th- again ending on the lydian note! There are two sections the first repeats, with subtle changes and the Clarinet has some embellishments in the second section. The Clarinet range is two and a half octaves- full score is 7 pages and it is just over 5 minutes in length. Intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.Price is for score and parts.

This was originally part of a project composed for a group based on the Old Kent Road in London. They provided some lyrics which I set to music for them (around 1982), but the project never took off.I never met the person to whom the letter was addressed (called Howard Nicholls apparently...) but I got the impression that he did exist and meant a great deal to the group. The words (now lost) certainly brought out a romantic theme within the project. The pdf contains score and parts.

Bach: Bist du bei mir BWV 508 for Clarinet & Piano

(+)
B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549229 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Easter,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3468706. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549229). J. S. Bach BWV 508. Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo.  He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.  Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.  Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands      Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.
